Swinging/Polyamory - I just wanted to hear other people thoughs on this....... - TEQUILAROSE You are right spot on. The difference is that poly requires the relationship/commitment. Swinging doesn't.. Swinging is almost always a relationship with minimal commitment (commitment/relationship is wide open to the participants to dictate as they wish) required since the participants are usually already in a committed relationship. Here it branches, and there are three ways to go. 1 Swingers that are in a committed relationship (married or SO or single) and don't want someone that would interfere with that base relationship. Just enjoy some recreational sex with others (the vast majority). If they want to grow it beyond, then go for it and enjoy. (Least restritive of the bunch) 2 Cheaters and yes boys and girls, there are a lot of gals that fit this catagorie even if they are way outnumbered by males. 3 Married or otherwise in a not good relationship looking to explore more and find everything hunky dorie again. NOT A GOOD place to go. Swinging is a place to go for recreational sex and then make the relationship/friendship whatever you want out of it. Anywhere from none to good friends.

Swingers In Uniform - Pay your memorial day respects here. - I can't thank you guys enough for all that you have done for us. I have countless vets and active military in my family and frienships. You guys ROCK!!! This is honestly my FAVORITE song and it make me teary eye everytime I hear it. And this thread is so fitting for it. http://www.sceniclasvegas.com/proud_to_be.html

Where are you Playing July 4th weekend? - Share your favorite places. - Up at the property in Pinedale with family. It would be better with a bunch of swingers but Pinedale is great

Another Swingers Show on TV - - That'll be something to be DVR'd.

Swingers - a couples only lifestyle? - Are singles considered to be swingers? - Hehe.... thanks t4, good explanation. I not only swing, I swing both ways....back & forth, lol

Cuming out of the Swinger closet - -

After some time in the lifestyle, we have recently started to break the news to some of our close friends that we are swingers. We have great friends and so far they have taken the information really well. However, we have other friends that would never want to hear it, and god forbid if we ever told our family about it. What are everyone else's thoughts about coming out of the "Swinger" closet?
Have you even considered the implications for others that may want to stay "in the closet"? You may be committing "Swinger Suicide" as it were... your openness might be great for you, but other may want to stay behind the curtain and would not want to be outed by association.
This is an excellent point we hadn't thought about. Luckily, we've only shared with a couple VERY close friends. Plus, we keep our vanilla friends and swinger friends quite separate to avoid this situation.

Looking to establish a group of safe swingers - - I think there are enough interested couples we should count off to form teams. If not the group will be so big there won’t be any control over safe sex

Lake Powell Party 2012?? - -
We are there now but not for the swingers, Have the entire family for our annual family vacation. But either way it's a kick ass trip. Hope everyone that is there is having a great time. We're camped in rock creek if anyone needs anything. A fall trip would be cool tool
I just got home from there last night.. Hot but the water is great! With the water level where it is, the big cave on the West side of Rock Creek should be accessible. Great place to hang out on the water in the shade! As for a fall trip, I know there is a big Poker Run being held out of Antelope Point the weekend of 9/15 that we will be running in. Should be a fun time then too (then again, Powell is always fun)

lifestyle club downtown slc... - - whos all going to the swingers club tonight? we are looking for unicorns or married women who can play alone... if you see us out say hey. let us buy you a drink...

Obama's Roadtrip - -
Fair enough. Then why rely on them for anything that likely wasn't adequately studied?
Likely just does not do it for me...When the numbers are given AND shown how they were gathered, I tend to believe they are fairly accurate.
Let's take your Pepsi/Coke example. There is likely nothing befuddling about your scenario. Just one possibility: Where are the two Florida products bottled? Maybe it's the water.
Both bottled locally, it is chalked up to being a preferance thing. In WI, lived there for a while, it was called pop or soda, unless a VERY specific thing was needed, a Mountain Dew for instance. In the south, it is a Coke no matter what it is. If someone in the south offers a Coke, it could be Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Diet Rite, Sam's Club Soda, etc.
I'm glad you agree with the logic. My Bachelor's is in Social Welfare (Psych Minor). Human nature is only a bitch of a thing when you get out there a few standard deviations. The bulk of us are as predictable as rats.
Believe it or not, I have 2 BA's (econ and int. rel.) with a minor in social work. So I am very aware of social science standards and SOME believe that we're predictable. If you have a smaller sample, we are fairly predictable, especially when the sample is taken from a specific group of people (swingers for instance, better yet, swingers in a specific region), once you get to the larger populations (nationwide for instance), human behavior is not easily quantified. Try being the ONLY conservative in all the social work classes, it was fun! Then again, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.
I propose that as an economist you are simply looking at things with a limited perspective.
Possibly, but I also have a rare ability to look at it from an outsider's view....
There is simply no question that if a person's basic needs (food and shelter) are met, there is less motivation to risk the consequences of violating societal rules.
I can see the logic of this, however, we are Americans, we always want MORE, we are constantly bombarded with images of MORE, we are constantly told that without MORE we are incomplete, etc. What are the consequences of violating societal rules? Food, shelter, clothing, TV, etc? Really tough there. Look at prisons in Mexico, if your family does not provide, you starve, more than likely. THAT is consequences, it is a deterrant (sp?). IMHO, one of the reasons for our increased crime rates is the lack of public punishment. If every time you turned around, you saw a group of people in black and white stripes mowing lawns, trimming trees, etc. on the side of the road in leg chains, it would cut crime considerably. If they did public executions, it would cut crime dramatically. Then again, I am a staunch supporter of heavy penalties for crimes, especially when they are repeat offenders, most of the social scientists are not. They want more rehab and such, which I also support, BUT only for first timers, not for repeat offenders. Anyway, I am thoroughly enjoying our debate... Next!
