What you are talking about is very close to just plain cheating. Successful couples, swingers or vanilla, are generally inward looking, looking at one another to the exclusion of the world or back to back facing the world together. From our point of view, at least, swinging is merely an extension of sex for fun in which other people take the place of toys. We don\'t for one moment forget that they are people and not actually toys but in termns of our own relationship they are peripheral though they may also be good friends. To split as a couple so that each may go his or her own way later to regale the other with his or her exploits doesn\'t work. I don\'t want my wife to tell me about her antics with another man. I want to see her with another man.

It is a shame that our society as a whole is not this open minded. I would say, that most people would accept cheating before they would swinging, only because they are used to the double standards in our culture. I find it odd that dishonesty would prevail over the feeling of freedom that truthfulness brings.
Are we really as judgmental as vanilla people? - - Swingers are very judgemental, maybe more so than the general population. It's not just over weight people that are judged by people in the lifestyle. Single men are discriminated against daily...just because they are male. We seem to be good at grouping like people together be it sex, weight, race. People in the lifestyle sure don't hold back when it comes to discrimination.

I believe the only way that one could truely avoid the heavy hand of the morality police is being organized as a church or truely a private club which whould require some form of selection process of club members. Even this would not keep you out of trouble, only grant you leverage in court.

Renting a location per event is likely the best way to avoid problems. However I know how hard it is just to setup a dance on a per event basis, an on-premise event would be much more work. The effort may be worth it, especially if you have a lot of people to help.
One way we made this work was a once a year event where we rented out a hotel during the off-season. The innkeeper was very comfortable with us being there and we were the only people that could get a room that week-end every year. We had the full use of the convention center and the swimming pool.
