Are we really as judgmental as vanilla people? - - It strikes me that, [i][b]in general[/b][/i], people fall into one of two groups:
A. Those interested in the total social experience the lifestyle offers (multi-faceted).
B. Those interested primarily in sex (very goal-specific).
The number of people in group B is considerable. 'B' folks are much more likely to hold appearance and physical desirability as the only criteria for evaluating playmates. 'A' folks are more interested in the total package.
I don't think it's necessarily right to fault those in group B for their limited interest in people beyond their sexual skills and desirability. How they conduct themselves is another story, however.
Immaturity has been mentioned. Selfishness and poor social skills also surely come into play. Society in general continues to become more and more hooked on instant gratification, leaving little room for concern for others.
This issue is reflective of society in general. Those in the lifestyle are, in fact, just a microcosm of the bigger picture, as previously pointed out. Here's something Ive been curious about - - It seems like the lifestyle is no less judgmental than the vanilla crowd. Honestly we aren't here so we can wear the cool lifestyle team jacket nor get our super-secret swinger decoder ring (drink more Ovaltine and use a condom). It's kind of funny that the same group of people who get all bent out of shape at the vanilla community for labeling and judging us turn around and do it from within. If I missed some federal definition of the term swinger than perhaps I'm wrong, otherwise why waste a moment of time passing judgment on who gets deemed worthy of the sacred title? I would have to say the definition of a swinger is someone who says "hey, I'm a swinger!" Be honest, how many swinger couples do you know that never play? They may go to meet and greets, maybe even house parties, but seldom if ever play. Are they swingers? Is there some monthly quota we need to meet to maintain our swinger status? I'm being over the top to make a point. I think of the lifestyle crowd as an enlightened group that realizes sex is amazing and variety is amazing and sex with variety is TOTALLY AWESOME! We forgo the silly social rules and regulations because we understand how much they confine society into little boxes of good and bad, right and wrong; and most of that is subjective moral hogwash. It's kind of discouraging to see members of a community that should be supporting one another pass judgment as to who is and who isn't. Being a swinger is a state of mind baby. Nobody can make you a swinger, nobody can take it away. So in closing to the single swingers out there I say...go swing you fricking swinging swingers you!!!

"Black Ring" or other Lifestyle insignia? - - We used to go to lifestyle "conventions" back in the day. A thousand or so couples taking over a hotel. Theme dances, seminars, an expo hall with anything and everything sexual. You were given wristbands when you registered to get into all the venues. It usually took about 4 or 5 hours for people (vanillas) at nearby hotels and such to hear about what was going on start looking for who was wearing those telltale wristbands. It would get so bad people (swingers) would just take them off or try to hide them under watches and jewelry. Can't imagine something like this wouldn't fairly quickly (especially with the internet) turn out the same or worse and for some reason not too many people seem to want to be identified as swingers when they're at the grocery store or out to eat with their families or in ANY public place. That's a really good idea! I am no authority but I agree that Utah guys have a bad reputation. I have heard similar stories from friends on vanilla dating sites where the guy just wants a one night stand.
