How long did it take to convince ? - - We talked about the fantasy of being in the lifestyle together before we started it. As said before, fantasy and reality are two different things. We weren't ready for a date with another couple yet because we were afraid of expectations or problems arising from things that we hadn't thought about. We went to Sea Mountain Inn in Palm Springs. It was the first time we were both completely nude in front of others. That was a great beginning as we quickly realized that no one was staring at us. We actually became very comfortable quickly. We did notice a lot of sexual activity. But again, that activity seemed normal to everyone there. We met a lot of great people who were willing to give us friendly advice. We commented how everyone seemed so normal. Even though we went with no expectations, we were given an opportunity to be with another couple, who had a nice "no Pressure" style. Privately, my wife and I discussed our boundaries or any other concerns. After we worked it all out, we agreed to play with the couple and loved it! Ten years later, we are so glad we joined the lifestyle. So maybe, you should try coming to Vegas and go to a swingers club. Check out the scene, talk to some people, and form your own opinions. Swingers gone bad?? - - I can't or wwon't take the moral high ground here. I believe what was done was legally wrong. I was having sex by age 12 and knew what I was doing then. It's not illegal according to the law but there are those who say that morality says that sharing each other with someone outside of the marriage is wrong. For those of you in Utah.... Polygamy, polygyny and polyandry is wrong... Actually the state had to outlaw the practice of having more than one wife or they wouldn't have gotten statehood. So they used the term Polyegemy or having more than one wife or having more than one husband at the same time. Polygyny is having more than one wife at the same time. It is illegal in most states for either of these 3 states or conditions to exist or to participate in. I guess what I'm saying is, Are swingers morally upright or righteous enough to make the moral judgement on these people. Certainly, what they did was illegal but.... 50 years ago what we do today would have gotten us ousted from the community, church, loss of job (and that could still happen today) and maybe even jailed, under the right circumstances.. STD testing and physicians - who and where - The Utah Aids Foundation in Sugarhouse does walk in testing Mondays and Thursdays. They test for HIV (rapid results, you get them before you leave the clinic), and chlamydia and gonorrhea for free. The chlamydia/gonorrhea are just urine for the free tests, and since they are localized infections, paying for the self collect oral/anal tests are worth it as well ($25/each), as people frequently have those without realizing and while testing clean with their urine tests. My one complaint with there is that they take a while to get results (about a week) and I felt a little talked down to when they pull you into a room to talk about safe sex and using condoms; however, that is a small price to pay for the service you are getting. While, as swingers, those are the two big ones to worry about, it is worth also going to your family physician to get tested for a full panel every few months (I do every 6/8 months for the full panel), since they aren't as common but can still affect people. If you need something quickly and want to avoid paying too much, the best experience I have had is actually at the Salt Lake County Health Department near downtown (http://slco.org/health/std-clinic/testing-treatment/). They charge per test, and they are the least judgmental and most sex-positive place I've found. The only downside is that they don't take insurance, so it doesn't count against your deductible, and getting an appointment can be hard, but they do take walk ins. Safe sex is fun sex, team! Let's all slut it up like crazy but keep it safe. We all have an obligation to police ourselves, and if something happens, take care of that shit!
