The net is by far the best way. The two main clubs near us are not good hunting ground and are pricey to join/attend. The next best clubs are in DC, but then you have 2 or more hours between anyone you might meet there.
Place truthful ads about what you want and don't be afraid to respond to the ones already posted. Also Yahoo groups are a great place to meet people by interest.
St. Petersberg, Florida - - I am sure you will find some place to party at....Love the pics: too funny on the captions. I think there is a place called Taste-Buds not sure if it is still kickin or not? There is also a place called Playfull Swingers. These are two Clubs in the Florida area we know or knew of.
Playfull Swingers is a pretty cool bar with theme rooms and a nice dance floor. BTW. maybe you can hit them with an email and see what is happening over there? If these are not in the area you are going to be you can google swingers and the city you are going to be in.

It sounds like you and your wife are not quite on the same page yet, which is quite normal at the beginning of exploring the Lifestyle. If you are adventurous enough, maybe plan a vacation to Temptations Resort in Mexico. This resort is not truly a lifestyle resort but is a lifestyle friendly resort since so many non swingers go there. It still is a sexually charged resort. You will meet a lot of people who are similar to you there and you have a whole week to be relaxed, get into vacation mode, and explore your steps into the lifestyle together without judgement or pressure.
Ways to point out Swingers in public - - HAHAHA Yeah, I wouldn't ever think it is a guarantee on any level. We always wonder when we see other women wearing them. But as you mention, it seems like A LOT of people wear them, so we would never approach someone based on that. :)
Hopefully at some point someone does approach us based on how i'm dressed, etc. But in our experience it means more for our playtime and fun than anyone else :)

trying to pick a place to honeymoon - - I would say it depends on what kind of weather and scenery you want. If you want mountains for hiking/camping/skiing and that sort of thing, pick Utah. If beaches and such are more your thing, pick Florida. Both have great groups of swingers as far as what I know via here on Swingular. couples more [oft ] ask for couples or single females. why is th - - We havent had a lot of experience with single males or single females....or 3somes all together, really......however, the one time that we did show interest in a single male for my pleasure (Mrs. Stitch typen) we had a really bad experience in finding one that was honest with why he was in this lifestyle all together. When we found a male we were interested in and we met up for some fun...the fun happened and after we found out the truth of his reality...and that was that his WIFE didnt put out at all, and he was really a married man with 3 small children looken for sex without strings. NOw the "sex without strings" thing is not what bothered me, however, the wife and 3 small children thing bothered me a great deal for very long time after that night. We (hubby and I) were both really upset by it, and wasnt looken for an experience that contributed to someone getting really hurt, and lied to. Sad thing is, we still see him lingering on the websites for swingers and being quite active in the lifestyle.
I realize that just the bad actions of one single male doesnt mean that all single males are the same.....we also realize that there are probably some single women that are also cheating as well. After that bad experience we both decided that if we wanted a 3some experience it would have to be with ppl that we knew and trusted and really knew their life story. We decided that we wanted to just meet some fun couples and stick with married, stable couples that are looking for the same fun as we are.

The number of people online before was total B.S... Basically, if you signed in, it "counted you" as being online for the next several days (even if you clicked the sign-out button). It looks like the admin has tweaked that number down a little to make it more accurate. =)
