KUTV News Story on Swingers - News - Just watched the story on the news and was EXTREMELY relieved it wasn't aired on a Get Gephardt segment. LOL Yeah, so the lady in question said she decided to swing with her husband to save her marriage after she gained a lot of weight (guess swinging is easier than a diet or taking up jogging) and that they went to "orgies" all over Utah...naming several cities and "even Bountiful" (the story showed the Bountiful temple a few times during the piece- she said being a Mormon she felt very uncomfortable swinging in a home within view of the temple). She also claimed that she was at a house party and the hosts young kids walked in. She says she started drinking because going to parties she felt like she was in the 5th grade where you wouldn't be chosen for a team...her husband was chosen to play but she wasn't. She has to go to rehab for her drinking. Eventually she wanted to quit but her husband supposedly refused and started going out solo and gave her gonorrhea. They are now divorced. Heidi Hatch was the reporter and apparently she started a profile and was communicating with couples here on Singular (yes, they identified Swingular by name and showed numerous screen shots and even some profile names) who wanted to make sure swinging wasn't portrayed in a purely negative manner. Holier than thou? - Holier than thou? - I'm curious as to why anyone here would think that just because people are on a swingers site they would be any different than the mix of people you will find walking around the mall.
Since the beginning of time/man/whatever you want to call it/believe people have segregated themselves into groups, cliques, and we've all been on one end or the other of these. It's just a fact of life folks, and being here on a swingers site isn't going to change that one bit. You'll find people you like, you'll find people you lust after, you'll find people that annoy the shit out of you, and you'll find people you'll dislike. Just as in your day-to-day contact with everyone else in this world.
I think when you just accept the fact that not everyone will be your cup of tea, nor you theirs, life is just a lot easier. So they won't email you back...doesn't that tell you all you need to know?
Also, maybe it's nice to remember that not everyone communicates in the same way. Maybe, just maybe, that couple that isn't emailing you not because they are snobbish but because they are shy, or they just don't communicate the same way you do.

swingin - thought this site was a swingers site - That's really funny. I thought every forum was about talking about lots of different things from lots of different people. At least, the one's I've checked out are. Nobody is forcing you to read the "non-swing" talk, noboby is even asking you to. If you're scanning the forums and you don't like the topic, pass it by. It's pretty simple. I can't count the number of threads I've personally ignored. I like the threads where people are expressing their views on various things, simply because it's alot easier to see their views than it is to email and ask "hey, what are your thoughts on (insert topic)." It helps me decide if the people are someone that I'll be able to carry on a conversation with. If a person can't stimulate me mentally, there's no chance of them stimulating me sexually.

Professionals - - Some of our best friends work in retail and construction trades. Some are "professionals." But it IS relevant to how we interract and what everyone's expectations and comfort levels are.
If we were construction workers or farmers (for example), we wouldn't give a rat's ass who knew we were swingers. But our livelihoods could and would be dramatically impacted if it became common knowledge that we are swingers. This means a few things are done differently than they would be otherwise:
1. No public face pics.
2. No public names or detailed descriptions.
3. "You show us yours...we'll show you ours" policy with locals.
4. 99.9% "no locals" play policy.
5. When we do entertain locally, it must be discreet. If we go to a public place, there is no cross-couple PDA.
If it were not for our status in the community as "professionals" being a matter of eating and living indoors for us, we wouldn' have ANY of these guidelines. We know couples who have met couples publicly who are NOT "professionals" who simply could not respect their boundaries and risked their reputations (thus livelihoods) with inappropriate behavior even after being asked not to. It freaking happens! And it is one of the gravest forms of disrespect/disregard for someone to do this. You think I'm gonna walk into the convenience store where your wife works and stick my tongue down her throat in front of her boss? NOT! And it's the same thing for us when couples disrespect our discretion boundaries. It could force us into bankruptcy.

Rather than say all that in a profile, we tend to just play nice and say "we're an attractive professional couple..." ;)
