I'm willing to bet that ANY number foreign nationals would love to trade places with you right now. When you put your own self needs away for a short moment and realize, like so many post before mine have said, there are families without fathers and mothers because they fought for something bigger than themselves, we, you and I, are not that important in the grand scheme of things. Young men and women, some as young as 18 years of age, are sleeping in tents, eating food from plastic bags, and waiting for the next mortar round to hit nearby, because they were asked too. Many of whom probably do not agree with their situation, but realize that they are their, giving of themselves for a greater good. These people deserve at the very least a soft thank you once a year. DJQ, you are intitled to your opinion, no one will force you to believe something else like the days of inquisition. But please, for all those who have given of themselves, past and current, have just a shred of decency and gratitude that you are able to live the life you have. I'm not telling you to believe the same way I do, opposing sides is part of what makes this country great, just dont take for granted the things that were given to you without expectation of repayment. So, not being on the same page doesn't cause issues as much as it adds to the challenges. Any way, I completely agree with you and TheFunCouple about meeting people in person, going to meet-and-greets, etc. That would be the best way to meet and get a feel for people. Two problems with that for us though: 1) We live in Podunk i.e., a long ways from Lifestyle events and 2) neither of us likes parties or any sort of large social gatherings. One of your last points first: Moral refers to standards as defined by the church, the government or your neighbors(in light of the Supreme Court decission a few years ago about porn) Ethics, on the other hand are something that we define for ourselves based on our upbringing/environment and values that we have defined based on whatever we base them on. You are right that marriage is a concept designed by religion and the government for the care of offspring and the clear definition of linage for property rights. You use the term marriage, which is a legal term like it is a moral imperative then ask if it should be based on some one or group of common interrests. Then the next breath you suggest that marriage is supposed to be more than any of that and something to do with sharing and intimacy. Finally you go back to somehow trying to make a point, (I'm not sure what that point was) that maybe there should be a conglomerate of reasons for marriage then with the nesxt breath you ask if sex should be forbidden.. Now lets see if this makes any sense to anyone. I'm poly and We swing. I have a lover who is married and her husband knows or us(he is not poly) and B knows of us and we are all good friends. We are, my lover and I, intimate both emotionally and sexually and both non poly mates knowof this. B and I are very much soulmates but then my lover is also very close to that as well.
