Swinging/Polyamory - I just wanted to hear other people thoughs on this....... - We think the problem is that people see the equation "sex = love". IOW, if I have sex with you, I must love you. Therefore polyamory and swinging are the same. After all, if I don't love you, I won't be having sex with you. The way I see it, swinging is like a game of golf or tennis. I might play a game with you but I don't love you. Similarly, I might have sex with you but I don't love you. Poly, IMO, is basically having a relationship with that other person and sex is involved on some level. Kinda like "I'm in love with you and oh, BTW, lets make love" The way we see it, swinging is about exchanging sexual partners for recreation sex. In an orgy situation at a party, you can have sex with that person with zero words exchanged. In a poly relationship, there is a real connection going on besides just sex. Sex becomes incidental just like it is with married couples. With swinging, there is no emotional attachment. Is that a good thing? Well, it depends. We need to understand the very simple nature of things. We do this to avoid that. That is human nature. Many swingers DON'T want emotional attachments and avoid them because of the complications they cause in the first one. Are there benefits to the attachments? You bet. Is there a price to pay for that benefit? But of course. Is it worth it to you? That depends on your viewpoint. In our life as a couple, the problems poly cause BASED ON OUR OPINION (your's may vary and no right and wrong here) do not outweigh the payoff. IOW, we don't think the benefits of a poly relationship are worth the problems it creates based on our opinion. YMMV

Explain why you like being a swinger - - Can't really answer as to the exact question posed, as I am a single guy and, therefore, I suppose I can't really be categorized as a swinger, per se. But as to why I like being part of this site with it's potential for associating with swingers: It's because I have never really fit the standard model of sexuality (if there really is one) and the opportunity to associate with people who have broken out of the "mold" and experience something new and bring something new to the scene is very interesting and exciting to me. Party Etiquette - How do people manage risks? - Mr here. So, the party that we went to before Halloween was a good party. It seemed much like another orgy that I participated in a few years ago, except this time I had Ms. Honeybunny with me :) That made me a little more aware of how people were interacting with each other, and I have a few questions about etiquette in those situations. Obviously, protection is important for a number of reasons, and pretty much everybody there was using condoms, cleaning toys after use, etc. However, one thing that I did not notice anybody using was dental dams or any kind of protection for oral sex. In a world where 70% of Americans have some form of herpes, for example, how do you deal with the risk of contracting it if you don't? Or what if you have other STDs? I would hope that if you have a temporary STD like chlamydia you would avoid lifestyles events until it cleared up, but nobody was talking about it. What if you have a more permanent STD, like the herpes mentioned above? Or AIDS? Or HPV? Two of those are really common, but also relatively harmless; do people just assume that other swingers do/don't have them or that the risk in not meaningful? I didn't really hear anybody talking about it, but I"m not sure if that's unusual or not. What's the typical protocol for situations like that? Also, now that I'm thinking about it. What would be the protocol if you DID pick something up from an event?

Moving - - I am seriously thinking I should move to Utah. Without going into a long discriptive reason why. And if you have read some of my posts you'ld know why. Untop of the fact that Ytah seems to be full of swingers that are healthy. I can't seem to find work in my home area of PA. You would think that a 30 year old cook,with ServeSafe and Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Food Safety and Laboritory Services certifications. Would be able to find a job real easy. And I have seen people get promoted to resaurant management for a lot less. In fact I worked at a Chi-Chi's a couple years back. And was asked to train for management by the district and regional managers. While I was training one of the pot head cooks got his waitress girl friend pregnant. They promoted him as soon as they found out. Maybe, I'm not getting the jobs I want because I'm open about swinging. Add to that I am 30 years old and single. Maybe I'm single cause I'm open about swinging. Eitherway I am in a bad situation and it needs to change. Pretty soon the bank is going to reposess my truck. And that will leave me screwed.
