This was mentioned in another thread -- but I thought it deserved it's own spot. I can use this post to keep the feature-list current.
We got tired of waiting for a mobile experience, so we rolled out our own mobile experience for Swingular that we (initially) intended to use just for ourselves, but have decided to give it to the community, or anyone that wants it...
It's actually really, really good...
Open your iPhone, Android, tablet, etc. and go to: https://BlackRingMobile.com in the browser to get started!
It's still in beta, and we're still adding new features, but it's ready for you to start using. (If you can be forgiving of any little bugs you might encounter).
BlackRingMobile.com has all the usual stuff you've been wanting in a mobile app:
- Read/Send Messages
- Manage Friends
- View / RSVP to events.
- View Profiles and Photos
- Upload photos from your phone!!!
- View booty calls
Plus a few things you can ONLY do from the mobile app:
- Rate other couples, set a "stage" you're at with them, and attach private notes. This gives you a slick way to keep track of the couples you know, how you know them, and where you're at with them.
- Send/receive text messages to other couples without revealing your cell phone number.
- Check-in to events and see who's currently at the event you're attending
- Organize friends/couples into lists, and send private-messages to everyone on a list. (Useful, for example, if you're organizing a house party... or have a list of people you're trying to meet up with).
- ... and TONS more!
You can use BlackRingMobile.com to check-in to ANY of the parties!!!!! When you arrive, Open the event, and touch "Check-In". Once checked-in, touch the "Who's Here" button to see (literally) everyone else who's already there -- you can even send them a text message letting them know you've arrived!
Again, this was created initially with the idea of ME wanting a damn mobile app and not getting one... However, the community at large is WELCOME to use it (free of charge).
Those concerned about sharing their password with some third party should understand a few things... a) You don't have to use it (that's fine with me)...b) Your password is never stored anywhere (except in memory, in the form of a session cookie, for the duration of the session), and c) The app is really nothing more than a different way of viewing the Swingular website in your browser. The authentication piece is "passed through" to Swingular, and once the session has been established, the password is destroyed in (even in memory). And, of course, everything is encrypted from end to end. It is as secure as I can possibly make it, given the circumstances.
(Also, I'm WIDE open to donating this to the site admin, potentially even for free, if he would like to make it an official part of the site).
We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
(There are over 100 people from the site now using it on a regular basis, as well).

One thing that would be kind of neat would be to have the ability to go back to recent past events to see the names of the couples that were there. We forget the names and failed to make note of some of them this past weekend. Okay.......we failed to make note of most of them......should have been using your app more.

Okay. I got this done for you. You can go to Events, scroll all the way to the bottom and touch "View Past Events"... Then touch the event from the list you want to see.... and it'll show you who was in attendance, AND it will show you the first names they used to check-in with.
1) People obviously don't need to provide their first names upon check-in. If they decline to provide it, their first names will not show up in this list. I will also go back and remove the names of anyone who doesn't want their names displayed.
2) Their first names will ONLY show up in this list, unless you add it to their profile yourselves. (In other words, it doesn't automatically associate their names with their profile.. YOU have to do that yourself for the people you care about).
3) You can only see who attended an event if you were there yourself. (If you didn't attend, you don't get to see the list of who was there. Period.). You must also have a Verified-Real or a Verified-VIP status on your profile in order to use this feature. (Preventing fake people from snooping on this info).
Since people can decline to provide their names, and since the information is ONLY available to real couples who attended the same event, this is akin to the same privacy setting as using sticky name-tags at the event.
So if you were at the party last Friday... go to the Events tab, scroll to the bottom and touch "View past events"... touch the party.. and you'll see everyone who was there. (This also works LIVE, while the event is going on.. so you can see who's there with you at the time!)

No.. they're hidden. They're used if you want to take advantage of the feature where people can text you without it revealing your number (or their number). You're free to leave them blank in the settings, too, if you don't want to use that feature.

It still seems that the app does not properly sync updated profiles for some reason. The main profile pictures between the site and the app are different in some cases.

Interesting.. I'm doing some pretty aggressive image caching to keep it fast.. that might be causing this. I'll get it fixed!
New feature added...
As you compose a new private message, or as you reply to a private message, a whole section is now available that lets you update your private info and notes about that couple. (Their names, how you rate them, notes, etc.).
Now it's one fluid action to reply / send a message and update their info all at the same time. (Much better way to keep track of the people you're engaged with).

I added it yesterday. (Under the Search section.. works just like the search on the regular site).
New photo-browsing gizmo added (lets you swipe left/right to see the people's photos).
Will also now tell you if you have new messages down on the toolbar. (Work in progress on that feature).

It won't... the bug that's causing non-searchable forums, I'm afraid, is beyond what I can fix from here. (Although it's a really simple fix for the site-admin).

I can't access it. When I try, it will take me to the login screen, but when I log in, it goes to a blank page. I've tried it on Dolphin browser and Chrome. Ideas?
Hmmm I dunno. I'm a little torn about more phone apps for swinging. I don't know about y'all but these days when we go to a swing party it seems like almost half the people there are just sitting around doing shit on their phones. Will that give them one more way to avoid REAL interaction with REAL people? Will it become the latest version of door watching (where couples would sit and watch the door at a swing club constantly on the lookout for a hotter couple than the last hot couple who walked in)? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for facilitating meeting like minded people but at some point in time you have to walk away from your smart phone and actually interact with people if you want to be a swinger. Am I the only one who sees multiple people at parties with their noses buried in their smart phones?

The app is more about giving people a more convenient way to access Swingular, than it is about distracting people during parties. (Although there are some VERY cool tools inside the app that *I* use at parties now, to help me keep track of who we've met).
This isn't just "more phone apps for swinging". This is a mobile front-end for THIS website. (The one we all use and rely on). Those who are trying to access Swingular while they're at a party discover it takes 15-minutes to perform even the most BASIC task.... With this app, you can do the same task in 15 seconds. (Letting you get back to the party!!!)
Give it a shot.. you'll love it.
Just an update... overall speed improvements have been added along with a few bug fixes.
I'm constantly surprised that I still people still trying to use Swingular, on their phone, without using this.... (I can tell what they're doing from across the room by the look of pure frustration on their face).

I'm really glad to have the App!! But if you were at the Casino event last night you'd have seen me using the site; I prefer to read a whole profile and I don't care to Chat, so while I use the app for quickly checking messages I don't personally use it to communicate quickly w/ others around me.

Yeah figured you'd prolly be sittin' around with your nose buried in your smart phone rather than swinging from the chandelier like a "normal" swinger. You really should like take a class or read "Swinging For Dummies". Yer s'posed ta get nekkid and run amok with lots of nasty peeps. Didn't the people running the party show you what you're s'posed ta do? You likely didn't pay for the premium party package with a complimentary red Solo cup (with your name embossed with a black Sharpie) and a little printed diagram of what goes where when yer gettin' hot and nasty with other swingers.

What I'm missing is the Drinks/Smokes/Interests/Kinks/Fetishes information.
Since they were taking cash at the front door stand, Evil, you may be right that my ticket only covered the bare (lots and lots of bare after awhile there) minimum.
I think it is a GREAT app! Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I hope there is a way you can work with the owner of this site to make this officially supported.
Is there a quirk to the photo uploader? I've had no luck uploading files of various sizes.
