...interesting comment from another site....
"Older folks swinging their way to STDs ..... older "swingers," ... are at high risk for chlamydia and gonorrhea" sounds very alarming, until you read the details and consider other factors.
"10.4 percent (risk) of swingers being infected ... compared with 14 percent of gay men, 10 percent in straight people who did not swing"
Really? Only a 0.4% increase over straight..." That's NOT a comparatively high risk.
In "... the over-45 population, they found 55 percent of the diagnoses for chlamydia and gonorrhea occurred in swingers, versus 31 percent in gay men" - This is meaningless without more data, such as the comparative size of the populations.
" The study authors hypothesize ...." Yeah, a lot of hypothesis and little to back it up. The only worthwhile line in this article is "...researchers recommend swingers be tested for common infections like chlamydia and gonorrhea regularly and practice safe sex."

OK, so 12 years swinging, not a single problem! Just use the protection available and choose wisely!!! Kind of like you all did when you were single and dating, oh wait you didnt necessarily choose so wisely back then or were we all 21 once?? Have fun and be safe.
"Lies, damn lies and statistics"
However, it only takes that one time to ruin your life forever. We've seen that happen (easily) to close friends so be smart and be careful.

never heard of swinger being the highest risk for std's but I have read a journal that does state that older people are more likely to have an std and have a higher percentage of having HIV
reminds me of the father in law from the hangover, "whatever happens in vegas stays in vegas.......except herpes, that shit will come home with you"

Complete abstinence from extra-marital sexual activities is the only 100% fail-safe way to keep clean. To think otherwise is simply naive.
Thanks KARMIC for keeping things in perspective.

The only way to 100% protect yourself from a motorcycle crash is to not ride motorcycles... but what fun is that? so, instead ride the bike and wear a helmet....helmets mess up your hair and are hot and uncomfortable...but you deal with it becuase riding without one is more unsafe....anyone see the parallels here?
Whether the number are true or not, I believe it is a journalistic plot to turn people away from the lifestyle. As Thoughtgarden said, abstinence is the only true way to keep clean. But we all know, once you have been in the lifestyle it is hard to let go.
Stay safe my friends...

I enjoy riding with a helmet on because it keeps you from feeling your head smack into the pavement. Damn CNKISS is correct there is a parallel there.
Just kidding

P.S. Remember the SARS scare, the disease was so bad that after a pandemic infection only 98% of the population would survive beyond 14 days.
