I don't care if people buy prostitutes, it is not something I would do since I have the George Costanza motto, "I won't pay for it because if I apply myself I can get it for free". But some people do. This guy goes around his area a video tapes them in action and then calls he cops. After seeing the report on MSNBC http://www.youtube.com/user/videovigilanteokc I have to say I agree with what he is doing.
Keep it in doors and better yet, legalize it so we can keep this off the streets.

Sounds like he has a bit too much time on his hands. lmao
He said he makes his living off the videos, it looks like he gets a lot of hits on his vids. I would just move from an area like that.

I think prostitutes are rented, not bought. ;-)
As for this guy, I am not impressed. It's not that I'd want to protect people doing this, it's just kind of a low way to make a buck.
You reminded me of a show (I think it's on MSNBC) on which they do hidden camera set-ups of guys thinking they are going to have sex with underage girls. I get a cheap thrill seeing these guys' faces when they are revealed, but more importantly, I like seeing guys like that get their punishment. As we know, there is plenty of sex to be had among adults, and kids must be protected.
Rambling . . .
Thanks for the thought-provoking topics!

That depends on how much money you have. ;-)

I am not sure if he set out just for the money, I think he was just fed up with what was going on in his neighborhood. Seeing people doing it on their cars with kids around would piss me off also.
I love those dateline shows, when they caught that guys with duct tape, rope and a shovel in his trunk, that was pretty scary.
Good point. I'm all for keeping the neighborhood clean!

Thats right lets hide it better so we cant see human slavery in action...LOL Making it legal does not take it from the street. Just because you make it legal does not rid us of the pimps who abuse these women or the John's who intends to harm them. You do understand why most women and men participate in prostitution dont you? Only 9% are call girl quality the rest? LOL well you decide. Most of them Have NO choice.

If it were legal it would be regulated, just like if drugs are legal. Keeping something illegal keeps it unregulated.
In Amsterdam prostitutes are protected against pimps.

I thought that prostitutes were selling condoms and giving a free trial. If he was filming them though, couldn't that be classified as paying to videotape them? Either way, they shouldn't be out in the streets selling their bodies.

You pay a hooker to leave. You buy a woman her drinks at a bar and take her home and have sex. She leaves to go home after sex or the next morning (WHAT IS SHE CALLED ). I think in someway prostitution is legal. So if some guy or woman pays for sex i don't see a problem with it. That is there thing.
I don't either, until they start doing it on their car in front of my kids and toss their used condoms in the park. Watch the MSNBC vid on the link I provided.

Just like all alcohol is regulated? So there is no bootlegging, no moonshine, those went out with the 21st amendment, right? Just because it is legal, doesn't mean that it is regulated. True the majority of alcohol sales and production are, but not all of them. There will always be those who will, for whatever reason, try to avoid the regulations. Don't get me wrong, I'm for the leagalization of drugs and prostitution, I'm just not naive enough to believe that it will stop all the social ills that go with their illegality. This especially includes pimps.

Making it legal wont stop this. Look a little deeper into the dark side of Amsterdam.

if making it legal won't help, what is your best idea to solve the issue?
You cant. Prostitution is the worlds oldest profession. What this guy is doing is a small part of getting his neighborhood back but at the same time he is putting himself at risk. Pimps dont play. (slave Holders) They are in violation of slavery laws. You want to solve the problem? Charge pimps and John with violating anti slavery laws. Not sure what the penalty is but is it much worse than a fine.
What does religion have to do with laws stringeant enough to curb a behavior?

Legalize it, require medical trips and some form of licensing. This would remove a host of illegal aspects:
No more arresting hookers or johns, cops can focus on important stuff, like traffic tickets
Hookers can pay taxes and not be cheating the IRS
Legitimate proof of income can help hookers with credit, social services, etc.
Designate zones where it is allowable, or not (500 yards of schools, churches, shopping centers, etc)
Pimps won't be needed and hookers have a way to actually report them to the police for abuse
Even in the areas of Nevada where it is legal, the hookers (mostly women of course) are required to get monthly checkups, use protection, etc. It is a safer, cleaner situation for everyone involved.
The only real argument against legalization is the moral one posed by the conservative mindset. That doesn't stop it from happening anyway, so it might as well be regulated and policed.

If it is legal in Nevada, it could be legal in other states!!!
Right or wrong, humiliating people publicly is never right. Take the tapes to the cops and let them deal with it in court, no reason to broadcast to the world! Think of the trauma is could be causing the kids of those parents caught in the act. If you want to film it to clean up the streets, there is no need to show anyone but the police!
