Swingers Forum - Green Door in Vegas? How is it? Red Rooster?

Previous Post Next Post
We asked here and other sites for recommendations on public swing clubs in Vegas. The comments and reviews varied so widely we are confused as to which is the more accurate. If you have first hand info based on your own visit or something you heard from someone who has been to the Green Door recently, (heard it remodeled and cleaned up?) will you help us out please?

Same for the Red Rooster

Hope to find a place with mix of singles, not all couples but might try the Oasis.
Thank you !
We have read too many bad reviews on the green door. We have visited the Red Rooster a few times. The Rooster seemed to be a little older crowd, but everyone was nice and respectful. There were quite a few singles there, but you can go upstairs to get away from them if you chose. The inside of the building was clean, but seemed to be out of the 70's. All in all we have had a good time there, however, our next trip down that way we will find ourselfs taking the drive over the hump to Parump to check out J J western swing. Just our two cents CDR24FUN
There is some inaccurate information in the first posting on the Red Rooster.

We live in Las Vegas and have been going to the Rooster for 10 years now. We know the owners and all of the staff well. The have been in business in the same location for 27 years, and are well known in the "community" throughout the country. (And we frequently meet people visiting from Europe as well.) Here's some thoughts:

- Yes, the place is '70's-ish in style and the furnishings are dated. But it is clean and safe. Personally, we go for the sex, not the decor. There is no club in Vegas we know of where you can find 200+ people on Fri/Sat nights with about anything you could want in sexual activity right on the spot. There is a dance floor, live music, pool table, jacuzzi, pool, group rooms, private rooms, free buffet on weekends, coat check, lockers, a couples only upper level, a nude only area, two BYOB bars, etc. etc.

- You DO NOT have to call first, or use any particular taxi. There was suggestions on the Rooster web page for which taxis you could trust not to hijack you to the Green Door or other commercial clubs. But there is also a map and directions. It's right off Tropicana just east of Boulder Highway, so not at all difficult to reach in your own car or a rental. (Very close to the Sam Boyd Stadium for you football fans.) There is lots of free, off-street parking with security.

- The "donation" for couples is $30. That may be the cheapest in the country for clubs like this? Nothing mob related here! In fact, if you're a "local" the $30 gets you a pass for all six days they are open. (There is a separate "party" hosted by a different couple on Sundays for which you pay separately.) Unlike the Green Door there is no "bait and switch" going on; you pay for nothing beyond the donation at the door. The mixers are free and they store or refrigerate your booze for you. (The bar tenders and coat check girl do have tip jars out.)

We suggest you go to vegasredrooster.com for current information on this club. There are thousands of posts in their forums, including a few demographic surveys as to the age and various sexual preferences of the clientel. It makes it really easy to see if it might work for you!

Our two bits on some other clubs: The Green Door is a commercial club with a bad reputation among locals. We were in the parking lot last weekend, and watched two drug deals, were leered at by a falling down drunk, and there were a number of pro's on the sidewalk. The facility is nice inside, but we have never found anyone to play with when we've gone.

There is a new place just north of the Rio called Power Exchange. It is the same club that was in San Francisco for years. It's a really nice facility, lots of theme rooms, and a young, attractive and friendly staff. Couples pay $30 and it is half that on Thursdays and Sundays. They do allow hard core S/M activity (not dangerous or even common in our experience, but you may see some activity.) There is also a regular contingent of TS's, so if that offends this is not the place for you.

Couples Oasis is a "couples only" house party. The owners are nice, and there is a pretty good group of regulars. However, crowd size is kind of "hit and miss," and it's a bit expensive to "join" and then pay for your visits. The facility is pretty limited, but they have a bar and swimming pool, pool table, etc. and a few private rooms. The previous owner required you meet them at a nearby bar the first time so they could check you out. I'm not sure if the current owners still require that. They do have a good website for more information.

Bottom line for us: we like to try these other places, but if we want the highest odds of easily finding attractive people with whom to play, in a safe and inexpensive venue, we rely on the Rooster.
RABBIT pretty much said it all and our experience at the Red Rooster was some of the most fun we have ever had in the lifestyle. The night we were at the Rooster there was more single women than men which really surprised us. The owners are very friendly and your in a safe secure environment. We tried to go to the Green Door but they were closed at 9pm because of slow business. Never tried to go back. The Red Rooster is where we are headed when we are in Vegas again.
We went to the Red rooster last Sunday. It was one of the funnest nights we have had. There was a great crowd there, not too big, but everyone was friendly and having a good time. there were probably between 80 and 100 people there. I would have to agree with RABBIT on everything he said. We have been to the RR a half dozen times or so over the years, and we have always had a good time. We have met enjoyable people there from all over the world, and although at times the single guys get a little forward with my wife, we have never felt unsafe or worried. We have been to the Green Door once or twice, and we seem to keep going back to RR over the last several years insead of the Green Door.
Also, the RR no longer requires that you pay at the storage sheds. You pay when you walk in the door. We stayed at the Arizona Charlie's on Boulder Highway and it was about a five minute drive from there.
Also, at $30 per couple, and you bring your own booze and they provide the mixers for free, it is about the cheapest date you will ever have. They also have a free buffet if you want to indulge in that.

We went on our way driving from SLC to LA, and we plan to stop and go again on the way back.
Been to both and would never ever go back to either one. Well
at least until we lose half our teeth and gain 75ibs but even
then we would need to buy a new wardrobe from the salvation army.
I've been to the Red Rooster 3 times - twice with a lady friend and once by myself.
All 3 times have been on a Saturday night.
My experience was, the people there were cliquish and snobby.
I've never gone to the Green Door because I've been told it's a dump.
