Swingular is proud to announce that Phase One of the beta test for the Swingular Redesign has been successfully completed.
As most of you know, this project has been in the works for quite some time now. It has been a work in progress and we wanted to make sure we had a great product before we launched. As time went by, new technologies and design techniques were introduced which we thought were perfect for a social site like ours. This kept pushing us back and new changes were always being made. We finally became happy with our last design changes and have pushed them to get finished. And here we are!
Almost everything about the redesign had to be redesigned from the ground up. This includes the database, the code, the look and features. You can almost say it was like creating a brand new website. Because of this, we are using a design build model and introducing the new site in phases. Each phase will go through a beta test and once the test is successful, we will launch that phase. The reason for doing phases is so that we can thoroughly test the site without overwhelming ourselves with bugs. So each phase will introduce new features or site changes.
Since the Phase One beta test was completed successfully, we will be upgrading Swingular to Phase One of the project. We will begin upgrading Swingular to Phase One starting at 6 AM PST on Saturday January 23, 2010.
Because this is the first upgrade of all the phases, a lot of changes need to be made and a lot of data needs to be converted to fit the new design. This process could take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours. During the upgrade, Swingular will be shutdown and inaccessible. We hope the transition goes smoothly and we have prepared as much as possible but there is always a chance the unexpected will occur and something could go wrong. So we cannot promise that the site will be back up before the weekend is over.
When Phase One is finally launched, there will be a lot of features that have been disabled until Phase Two. However, the features that you use most will be available.
So please, 'bare' with us while the upgrades are being made this weekend and we guarantee it will be worth the wait.
In the meantime, we will leave the chatroom open during the upgrades so you have something to do.
After the Phase One launch is successful, meaning any bugs are fixed and things are running smoothly, we will begin beta testing Phase Two of the website with more features being enabled and tested.

I agree this is an awesome site. I was lucky enough to test the new site. (Thank you admin for that) I never had any problems while using it. I think people are really going to enjoy it. A big thanks to all our friends because you helped make the site great. Sorry just my mushy side.

OK....with that in mind, HOW will we get into the CHATROOM if Swingular will be shutdown and inaccessible??? I'm confused .....
one of two ways.. go in and when you leave dont close it and let it time you out.. or.. go in the chat and save the address as a bookmark and just click that to open just the chat room window

It is odd that you should do this on a weekend. I would think a week day would be better but I am new here so maybe I have no idea what I am talking about.

I tried all day yesterday to access the Chat Room.
Couldn't sign on to Swingular.

Nice upgrade, although pages are MUCH slower to load now, especially in the email client

could you PLEASE not take the site down on the one day in the week that most of us are looking to hook up?
I tried to login yesterday to finalize plans for the weekend and zilch.
