I had my first swing this past weekend and had a question. My wife has an IUD and she heard somewhere that if I have sex with another woman and also have sex with her that she could get sick from it. My question is: Have any of you heard of or had any experience with this subject? All replies and advice is much appreciated. Thanks
Never heard of such. I guess if the other woman has an STD then you could catch the STD if your woman were to go bareback and then you went bareback with her.... But beyond that?????? I've never heard of anything like that.. .
I would recommend checking with a doctor before you take any risks. They only give IUD's to women in a stable monogamous relationship, so that must be for a reason.
I would highly recomend consulting a doctor before doing anything out of the ordinary when dealing with birth control.
Or... just use protection and problem solved...
Protection like condoms doesn't protect you from everything. I really recommend talking with a doctor asap.
IUD has a higher risk for getting an STD or infection because of the strings and the fact that something can get on the strings and travel faster and higher up. I'm not quite sure what kind of "sick" you're talking about, but doctors don't like giving IUDs out to people that aren't monogamous because of the higher risk factor. I had one and just used comdons with everyone as usual and didn't have an issue with it.
Pharmacist here. IUDs don't provide protection from STDs, but many people in the public think that they do. That is where the warning you have comes from. It is a general precaution much like you would see on the box of any birth-control stating that the medication won't protect you from STDs. There is also the issue of bacterial vaginosis, where the bacterial flora in one woman is different than that in another. Bacterial vaginosis is often termed a "STD" but is really just an overgrowth of natural vaginal bacteria that has been introduced by some external source. The only way to protect your wife from these things is to wear protection, which is something I would highly recommend for numerous reasons. All that being said, make your own choices, but make sure they are INFORMED choices.
