We were pondering some ideas on how to get more members to make this their permanent home. One of the things we thought about is if a lot of the members friends were here as well, it would be easier for them to communicate because they all have the same place to hang out.
So we thought, 'What if we give each Platinum Member 5 free Platinum Lifetime Memberships to give to their friends?'
Would it work? Or would it get abused?
If it worked, it would cause a trickle effect and eventually, all the friends could end up moving over. In the end, everybody wins!
Anyways, we just wanted to get feedback from the rest of you. What do you think?

We have alot of friends that would love that!
maybe give them as an incentive for the amount of content contributed, or activity. it seems to me that the more pics, video, and forum activity content the site offers the more likely current users will spend more time on site and provide a reason for new people to sign up. we still have an account at the "other" site just for the amount of content they have, knowing full well that it is mostly populated by flakes, fakes, and pic collectors, there is always so much content added at any given moment if nothing else I have something new to look at.
if there was more fresh content here I would dump the "other" place without a second thought.
I would take free stuff, but seems to me that if you could do it in a way that would generate more content from current users would be better, but I guess it is the same either way, new users make profiles and add more content too.

I guess the best thing about just giving them away to friends is the high chances that it will only add quality members, not the flakes and fakes, nothing is worse than weeks of chatting, finding free time, sitters for kids, etc. just to have a no show, we no longer bother much with those that have no feedback from other members, I guess under this scheme all the new ones would come already vetted as worthwhile.

To be honest I found out about Swingular from a party hosted locally years ago. The format was superior to AFF as it was a one time fee and the quality of members was and still is far superior. Had it not been for that party we wouldn't know about this site. Now if you are looking to grow the site so that you have more $$ I think the best way is by search engine.
Here is why I suggest that. Back in 2001 when I did my looking it was all by the internet. I found AFF and made a profile and away we went. At that time I didn't know any swingers... and all the swingers I do know are already here. So really I wouldn't have anyone to bring to this site. I think your new customers will come from hosted parties and events.... Internet search (you have little presence there) and then friend referrals.
Now if you just want the base to grow and keep it quality then the word of mouth friend referral is the only way. Just my .02 Euro.

I like the idea of them being involvement driven. Users could earn points toward free memberships. That may take some retooling of the site though.
In the mean time, what about a free Platinum gift for each year someone has been a member? Reward the users that have been here the longest???

I think the free memberships might work, but maybe 5 per platinum is a bit much... other than that, I can think of at least three people off the top of my head to give them to, lol
sounds like a great x-mas gift buy a webcam and wrap it with a card for a membership
I love the idea, I have a couple that wants to join but money is really tight right now. That would be perfect.

Yes I agree the keywords you pointed out do show Swingular highly ranked so you're likely to get traffic that way. The thought process I had was not so much to look for "swinger personals" but 'adult personals' Swingular doesn't show up until page 4 on Google. Now if you drop the 's' at the end of personals and search "adult personal" Swingular shows up as #1 link ahead of #2 AFF. A slight tweak would increase traffic and membership.. thus also creating more income.
Please don't think that our comment of wanting to grow the membership base for $$ is bad. I think it is imperative to keep this place operating and feature sets getting better. It is going to take $$ to do this. I know many people that are waiting for the new features, like specify what we are looking for in our profile, to go active. I feel that getting new fresh people involved into this community has more value.

Great idea. By having people that are already members, you have in a way already pre-qualified the new members. It's great for the site and great for growth potential. I would recommend that it be for a limited time to help create value.
