Swingers Forum - Somewhat New Topic

I believe I tried to raise the topic of 'state's rights' a while back (too lazy to go back to look).

It is a topic that has intrigued me, but I've also not taken the time to do any decent research. I would like to check it out a little more, but thought it might be easiest to start here.

Anyone care to make any recommendations, or, better yet, pick a fight with someone about it? (insert evil-type icon here)

I'm sure I'll chime in, but I haven't really formulated much of a stance yet (except where health care is concerned).
The Constitution has VERY specific tasks that the federal government is allowed to do, must do, etc. The tasks given have been added to numerous times, amongst them Social Security, the IRS, etc.

This is what the Civil War was about, even though many believe it was strictly about slavery.
The Federal Government has over the years taken on responsibility that was never dreamed of years ago. I wonder how many states yell when money comes their way, building projects, and other resources paid for at a Federal level? Many times the states have given power to the Federal government to be able to collect money. It could be argued that Income Tax crosses over the line and is not allowed as it is not an enumerated right however that would leave the defense of the country (which is listed) as being paid for by collections on imports and such.

Indeed they have....

You mean the money that the feds illegally collected from the citizens of the state and then they magnanomously return it?

The federal government attempted to change the Constitution to collect taxes via the IRS, however, the amendment did not pass the proper procedures, thus unconstitutional.
