On tonight's Nightly News (NBC), I first heard of this issue arising from the "You Lie!" performance:
It seems that there are those who believe that the Congressmen's comment was symptomatic of underlying racist attitudes that still pervade some elements of the right - in this case good ol'boy Southern conservatives.
There has been something disturbing me about the absurd crap being pulled by the Limbaugh-types and those he incites (more disturbing than usual, I mean).
Thinly-veiled racism makes the most sense to me!

And yet we keep reelecting them year after year! Not sure what that says about us as a nation if we think that little of them and yet we keep them around. Maybe we need something to dislike, someone to blame for anything that goes wrong.
Calling the President names I don't think is a race thing but the level of hate that shows up at many of the protest marches, the words that come from the mouths of both protesters and radio and television talk show types, all of this goes beyond policy. I thought President Bush was stupid, he was an embarrassment when he talked, however I would be the fist to object to a protest sign like "we don't have our guns this time" or anything that even hinted of violence. Way too much of this is showing up and reminds me of the anti-choice protesters (not pro-life because most support war, death penalty, and such). The anti's put out "Wanted Dead or Alive" posters of a clinic doctor and then act shocked when someone of the fringe gets a gun and shoots the doctor.
You can't say the president should go back to Africa, that is is not American, that he is somehow Muslim (not sure what that would be good or bad about that) and not see it as something much more than political disagreement. I could not say if the one shout out of "You Lie" was due to race however the growing level of hate has it's roots in something darker than just left -vs- right. You know I wonder how he kept so quiet during the Bush years (still can't find those WMDs it told us about)

The wilson comment was flat out wrong. If he felt so strongly about the topic then he should have talked to the pres offline, man to man (1 on 1). Then he could have had a real discussion and the man could have shed some light on the situation.
The facts are the facts, if the public option is passed there is no way they can stop coverage of illegals through the public option. I will explain.
In 1979 the state of Texas tried to stop local school districts from admitting children of illegals into schools. This move designed to stop school aged children from attending schools thus curving the influx of illegals into their state.
Well the Supreme Court said that any public benifit provided for by ANY state or local government will apply to ALL PERSONS living in the USA, and the constitution does not make the distinction between legal or illegal, just the word PERSON.The law was over turned and made unconstitutional. So either President Obama LIED or the person who graduated with a degree in constitutional law does not know the constitution very well. This also applies to welfare, medicade, medicare, schools, and or any governmental benifit provided by the government. So when the bill passes with a government option by law coverage must be applied to Illegals.
No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
Now whether the president lied or Mr. Wilson knows the constitution better. I will let you decide.

Wow, so they are collecting Social Security checks too? I wonder how many are now getting SSI? The facts are they get medical right now and we all pay for it just like we paid for your medical treatment when you wouldn't pay. They go to the hospital and can't be turned away. Just how is having them not being able to buy insurance from a public option going to make things worse?
If they want to curb the influx just send the medical bills to those that hire undocumented workers because they can pay them under the table, don't have to worry about tax payments, don't need to deal with health and work standards, and there is no minimum wage for undocumented workers. It's not just the big employers but those getting their lawn mowed, pool cleaned, maid service, the locals that claim they don't want the illegal are often the same that enjoy the savings of cheep labor.

If you allow illegals to buy into the government option, then you can not leave out those who cant afford any option. You must cover them.Depriving them of coverage is unconstitutional. Illegals can not buy into social security.
The only true way to Pay for all of this is a National sales tax that is fair to everyone including Illegals, criminals, and visitors from other countries. This way no one is exempt from paying taxes.

Major city hospitals will be compensated for delivering Illegals with health care, and will be required to assign a medical doctor for follow up visits, once they recieve documentation of their medical condition.And these doctor will be required to fill out admin. paper work correctly to be paid for their services in this new bill.
