Stuff like this just makes it harder for us to want to go to these type of clubs.
This was a great club we are charter members. I have spoken to friends that were there and can set a couple things straight.
First the Gambling charge won't stick that night the planned Texas hold'em didn't happen so done legally or not there was no gambling. They have in the past had pro dealers there for entertainment but there was no money betting.
Everyone was searched and their cars but they only arrested 2 people for drugs and the amounts were trivial. The membership waiver says no drugs and they were not the norm there.
The big problems here are two fold 1 a pissed off old man who had nothing really to be pissed about other than someone was having more fun than him. and the speaker of the house of Fla is his son...
Sooo 20 officers armed like a swat team with assault rifles come in and demand people lay down with guns to their head like it was an armed crack house. There were no month long undercover investigations or they were playing like everyone else. I won't discuss liquor license cause I don't know the laws BUT they don't operate like a bottle club you bring it you drink it no fees for setups or any money to the place just the entrance donation after you're a member.
This club is in a very prude county no strip clubs are allowed so it will depend on how this goes and how much one politician wants this on his record. Many members will go back if things are settled quietly out side of the lifestyle, internally there will be more discussion. In Pasco and nearby counties, a much more relaxed adult entertainment area including Tampa, 2 of Florida's bigger and better clubs on the south west coast have been shut down recently. A third has been constantly under attack but has done everything by the book and even survived undercover investigations that were reported in local papers when they couldn't find anything illegal. The best they could throw at them is an attempt to rezone.
This is not the first club to be attacked and won't be the last. If you go to any of them there is an element of personal risk if you can not afford the publicity. Even an emergency requiring a 911 call could cause it. For some the thrill of possibly getting caught will be enhanced and more will come. It takes all kinds even in this lifestyle.
