It has been confounding to me that we have been repeatedly told of the loss of our national wealth. I know finance is a large degree of smoke and mirrors, but even so it struck my simple financial mind that there had to be more to the story. Instant billionaire and multi-billionaire hedge fund managers would seem like a fairly large chapter.

I told you so" Finance is very fluid and runs in cycles. If you thought untethered growth was going to last for ever you were just hiding your head in the sand. Wall street, Congress, the Presidents past and future must know this. So if you prepared for this cycle you will be OK, if not? I told you so fits like a glove.

LOL Term limits on the congress is a start, Deregulate Insurance Companies so they open competition between them. Stop playing with interest rates for at least 10 years and every 10 years review. Giving these people more power is not the answer. The banks, markets and you 401K in the hands of our government is not the answer. Eliminate the IRS and reform taxation. through a flat tax.

So capping earnings should work against execs. but not for workers? so a guy earning $64. an hour to put new tires on a new car is not too much money? Greed is everywhere including some Unions. No, I think regulating how corporations make their profits and ensuring that when the corporate big wigs make a salary jump, the little guys get compensated accordingly. That everyone gets the raise and not just those on top. I am ok with no caps, so long as everyone gets compensated. That's not how it works though.

I disagree. I think education is key. If education was not considered an attribute of wealth and privilege which I don't think it is in most cases, I wouldn't care who ran the country. The problem is, most people speak, read and write in dollar signs. They don't want to serve they wanna get paid.... Ask Bush.
