As we get closer to launching the new site redesign, we are creating new quidelines and policies to make Swingular a sexier, classier environment. In our opinion, everybody can be sexy and classy based on attitude and how you present yourself. With that in mind, we will be tightening down our primary picture policies as well us coming up with some new ones.
Over the next month, we will be trying to clean up any profiles that violate the following current and new policies by requesting that they be updated to reflect the upcoming changes. We ask that our members help us by reporting any profiles that they come across that do not fit the policies.
Starting March 1st, the policies will become mandatory and ALL profiles must follow the new rules. The following images cannot be your FIRST photo in your Public Photo Album.
New Primary Picture Policy
-No close up genital shots.
-No hard-ons or masturbatory pictures.
-No obvious sexual acts.
-No cartoons/landscapes/vehicles.
-Only a picture that partly contains the member themselves is allowed. (Headless body shots are acceptable).
-Tasteful nudity IS accepted.
You can however, post these types of images anywhere else within your album.
The following types of images are NEVER allowed.
-Animals.
-Minors.
-Copyrighted images.
Again, these rules will not take affect until March 1st but we ask that you begin changing your images now. If you come across a profile that violates these policies, please use the 'Report a Member' link on their profile to let us know and we will send the member a friendly reminder.
We think every member can get their point across without having to post these type of images. And if you are concerned about your privacy, posting headless or blurred face pictures is easy to do and won't reveal your identity. You can use online image editors such as http://www.picnik.com to help you with that.
Thanks for your understanding in this matter as we are trying to make Swingular a funner, sexier and classier place!

good policy.. sort of. if you are not going to allow anything but a photo of the user as the first photo then you should also allow the user to choose to NOT display a photo at all on their profile first shot.
I have used in the past things like what is attached as the first photo when I didn't want to display a photo of us to free members.

green, the only photo that would be limited is the primary photo. "most" of the rules as mentioned are not any different then current policy thats just not enforced.
We would side with those that do not want a member only restriction on the 1st profile pic. (vs. scenic, cartoon, etc.), rest of the restrictions seem appropriate. Would rather have no photo than have member photo's up for non-members to peruse. While blotting out the faces does help, there are still many identifying characteristic's remaining in most photo's for those that know you (once personally identified a headless coworker from the rings on her fingers).
While there are things that can identify you on some images, there are MANY ways you can remove those things, whether it be before you take the picture, using a photo editing program to cut out, our blur the identifiable pieces, or just showing the parts of your body you know someone can't identify.
There should be NO reason why you can't post some type of image of yourself as a first image. If you don't know how to edit your photos, you can send them to us and we can do them for you. Even those that say they don't want free members to see their first image, what harm is it if they can't tell who you are. You will probably get more responses from other members if you have some type of image that shows somewhat how you look.
You have to remember, the revenue to keep this site going is from new members and recurring monthly members. To attract those new members to want to pay, you cannot limit the fact that they cannot view the first image of someones profile. Otherwise, they don't have any incentive to want to pay. We already restrict free members from viewing the rest of your images which is limiting enough.
Think about it, if you went to a dating site, and you couldn't see any member photos until you paid, would you want to trust giving them your money? And pictures of cartoons, landscapes and vehicles sure isn't going to entice you.

my toons aren't enticing?
Your toon is always enticing Wicked
Yes they would.
Untasteful would be things like spreading your crotch with your fingers.

Bel those tits are very tasteful and we need to retaste them lol. We agree with the administrer about untasteful nudity and the fact that there is always a picture you can post. Black out your eyes or face besides if someone is looking for you there is a reason.
I think it's a great idea and overall would be beneficial for the promotion of Swingular in terms of attracting new membership (which benefits all of us).
These rules are not new; I recall them always being listed in the picture policy...I think that these rules are simply going to be enforced.
I agree with ADMIN in that there is no reason why anyone should not be able to comply with them. Cartoons and "nature pics" certainly do not add to the overall "curb appeal" of Swingular.
Either manipulate/edit the pictures yourself (to remove identifying features...thus maintaining your so-called anonymity), or send them to ADMIN (he has offered after all). Or simply find friends with even basic Photoshop skills within the community to help you.
I honestly don't understand why anyone would get worried about a picture as anonymous as a simple buttcheek...or something along those lines.
Seriously, who would worry about their Bishop, or boss recognizing either the dimples or the cleft of their anonymous asses in a primary picture? The only ones that may recognize it out of your list of peeps you would not want to would be your parents.

does the first picture have to be of both if your a couple ??
Have to agree with admin, when were browsing profiles it is usually the photo that sparks the interest in reading it. I have to admit the we generally wont click on a profile that doesnt have a pic or just has some sort of scenery on it.
We were one of the ones who got nervous about all of the exsposure the site was getting there for awhile and ended up removing our face pic's. But the one thing about being reconized by some one is the fact they are on here also, and most likely for the same reasons you are. We already change our pic to conform, nothing to hard.

What everyone needs to remember is that they are trying to improve the site. They are making changes and we all need to be subseptible to them. Most people including me dont like change, but after we get use to it things will be iI am sure even better than before.
If you are a couple, it can be both or one of you. That's up to you.
guess I need to get working on some new photos.
Good policy and I agree with everyone else that it will greatly enhance this site.

we believe that hot pussy spread shots are very tasty ......nummmm nummmmm
Thats a good idea
For anyone in doubt, a profile without a personal photo as the primary pic draws "exponentially" fewer responses. I was a developer on a competitive dating site and it was a statistical fact that about 92% of all contacts were to members with photos.

Admin,
What about a photo of her with her little strapon or her dominatrix pic is that too much for the from page there is no genital area just a big fake dick and a whip?

As long as it looks tasteful, I don't see anything wrong with that.
First, we will be sending a mass email 2 weeks prior to the effective date letting all members know of the new policy. Starting March 1st, we will be combing profiles each day to find anyone who is in violation of the new policy. We will send an email notice informing the member of the new policy and that they have 7 days to comply. If they do not comply in 7 days, their membership will be temporarily revoked. They will then have 30 days to reactivate their membership and comply with the new policies. If 30 days pass and they do not comply, their profile will be permanently disabled. If they reactivate their membership and violate the policy a subsequent time, they will have their profile permanently disabled.
so when do you want us members to start sending you tags say a profile is out of policy? After the 1st of March? or sooner?
I think this is a great idea and from looking a birthday profiles the ones that are going to be effected the most are the single guys with their cock shots...

We want to start notifying individual profiles as soon as possible so if you notice anything now, please let us know.
I wonder if our main pic would be considers an obvious sexual act. For the most part we have decent pics but I would like to point out that most people with dirty pics are real swingers but there seems to be a lot of new members with "decent" main photos that are frauds. we have just spent the last 3 days chatting and making plans with a perv that has pics of his kids. If any one would like to know who this new member is hit us up and we will forward this s*#! heads profile to u.
I'll go along with keeping it real, but I think the primary photo for a couple should show both partners, and not just one partner of the couple. That would help eliminate those that are not a couple, but say they are, and are posting just one person in the photo.
Awhile back I came across a 'couple' that was actually just a single guy who had posted a picture of his ex-girlfriend. After a lengthy chat he admitted his partner was unavailable, that he was just looking to be the second guy in a 3-way. When asked why his partner was unavailable, he said he never got any contacts as a single, so invented a partner, and it worked for him.
Let's keep it real. Post a picture with both in it.
BTW: Is the photo of me on my 'motorcycle' OK under the new rules?

WooHoo to Admin! It is about time. All thumbs up for the rules.
In respect to the couples photo, I completely agree with whomever said it would weed out the guys playing alone (aka, single guys).

I don't agree with the both being in the picture for couples... if there are other pictures of the two of you in the other pictures it should be just as good...
Administrator, have you reached any final decisions on the Thumbs Up & Down, and couples together in the primary photos?
The real issue here is that MANY post pics that are not their own, and that creates less integrity to the main pic issue.. If I can just post some random sexy pic, how is that better than a tasteful, and sexy landscape? By limiting some of the variety, it makes the sight more uniform and limits the ability for self expression. I do agree that some of the "junk" shots definitely should be saved for your own profile, and not the main pic. But this was already a rule, just not an enforced one.
Also, as far as the update, or a couple pic rule, this does not solve anything, because of the many items listed above. Anyone can download any sexy pic off the internet or elsewhere, and call it their own.

Hate to say it but, there is no way that requiring a couples profile to post pic's of both partners is going to detour any one from making a fake profile. A dishonest person is going to find a way around it no matter what rules you put in place. I guess living in Utah it makes it easier weeding through profiles because of the venues available to meet people in a socail enviroment. (Thanks to all of the hosts) for there efforts in putting these parties together. It certainly exposes the real profiles from those that are trying to enhance them because they are usually no shows when you invite them to meet you at one.

I think Mrs. luvgulf has raised excellent points.
If all primary pics are mandated to be actual pictures of the single/couple, I would guess as much as a third may end up being invalid pictures.
Additionally, even with skin, the entire portfolio of primary profiles would have a collective sameness/blandness. The majority of folks probably aren't even decent photographers.
Due to the importance of the primary pic and the whole "first impression" thing, the only people able to bring across things such as imagination and sensuality would be those talented with a camera.
If it ends up going this direction, I propose that Thoughtgarden give up his day job and commence making prinary pics for all of us!

After reading the last few posts about requiring couples to be in the main pic or how the main pic can be faked, we want to point out that the main pic is not a way to prove who you are or if you are real. There is another system created just for those reasons and that is the REAL and VIP verification system.
I think some of you are missing the point behind making members post pics of themselves and not pics of landscapes and cars and such. And that is, to make the site sexier and classier. There is no relevance behind posting a landscape pic to hooking up with somebody else. And seeing nothing but these types of pics can be discouraging to new members from buying memberships if that is all they see.
As I pointed out in an earlier post, nobody is going to want to buy a membership and give their hard earned money to a site that has nothing but landscape pictures available to preview. Would you? I sure wouldn't. And you do realize, these new members are what keeps this site going. Without them, you wouldn't have Swingular to continue meeting people so what's the point anyways?
We have to clean up our image and show others that Swingular is a sexy and classy environment so we can attract new members for all of you to meet. We have to give them something to want. This policy will be better for all of us.
No matter what we do to prevent fakes and singles posing as couples, it's not going to matter if we allow landscapes or not, they are going to be around. That is why we have the verification program and that is why you need to use caution when meeting others. Don't just give out permission because someone requested it, voice verify first if you have to. We provide an environment to meet others and there's only so much we can do. It's up to you to take the necessary steps to make sure the people you are communicating with are real. While saying anyone can post any picture of anybody is true, they can do that with or without our rules but at least we can make our presence better whether they do or not.
So, it isn't necessary to have the both of you in the picture if you are a couple, just one of you will suffice. As for LUV2BOARD's question, if any type of obvious sexual act is in the picture, then it is prohibited. If it looks like you are in the act but I cannot see the act itself (penetration, etc...), then that would be OK.
As for landscapes being a way to express ones self, then put yourself into the landscape or on your car. You don't need a professional photographer to take decent pics of your wife posing on a motorcycle. There are many things you can do to 'personalize' a picture or 'express' yourself individually in one. Just today, I saw a primary picture of a woman's butt cheek with some sexy panties on. How hard is that to do? Much better than a sky of clouds and I definitely see more self expression in a pic like that.
I still have not seen a valid argument on why this is such a bad policy. However, it is irrelevant because these change are going to take place on the first of March no matter what. But I do like to hear your comments so keep them coming.

Rob,
My intent wasn't to imply the proposed policy was BAD, but rather, to bring up potential flaws. Congratulations to you for asking for the input before proceeding! No matter the final policy, it won't be flawless, so....
Your reasoning is sound and purposeful. Naturally you have more information to work with than any of us and, it IS YOUR business to promote. You need to be more comfortable with the policy than anyone else.
Again, it is to your credit that you make the effort to receive feedback on changes, BEFORE they happen!!!
