Now that the majority of the political firestorm from the elections is over, should we bring the political forum section back into the home page rotation to bring some life into it? Or should we leave it out?
leave it out...PLEASE !!! it has been nice not having the crap on the front page.
Do what you think is right. This is your site and no matter what, there is going to be someone not happy about it either way. We have not gone to it in months so we could care less what you do. When a topic of interest comes up, we respond on it. So Rob, what ever your vote is just double it to count ours too.
Leave it out. We all have enough other things to discuss then trying to make others see why we can't sucessfully remove our own head from our backside, muchless try to convince others to remove theirs to see our perspective. Either way all we are doing is talking poo-poo and it gets annoying. Its not like we can do much till the next election year, or can we??? Ahh Crap, here we go.
It was unfortunate that political threads tended to clog up the front page's 'Five most recent forum posts' section during the recent presidential campaign. Understandable, but unfortunate, because it obviously is unrelated to the site's focus.
It did indicate, however, that folks on this site are, in fact, a representative cross-section of the general public. It was a very important election during very turbulent times. The passion and vitriol were evident on both sides. There were many very good discussions along with some over-the-top rhetoric.
I have found there are many excellent minds and opinions on this site and am glad that adminstration encourages general discussion beyond non-stop-sex-topics only. Certainly, not that there is anything wrong with that. There are plenty of myopic swing sites. I think the opportunity people have taken to express themselves beyond the basics in this forum makes it special.
Now that the election is over and folks have settled down, the activity in the political section has dwindled considerably. Due to decreasing posts, the extra effort required to click to the outta-sight-outta-mind stuff will not happen if nothing new has been posted - viscious cycle.
If an intriguing post isn't seen, what's the point?
The quirk that developed on the front page happened due to the election. It's over. It would have fizzled out the week after the election if no action had ever been taken by the site.
I agree completely, the decision lies with Administration. It is their site and they know their goals and objectives better than anyone. I simply think it's sad that apparently the majority voice has no TOLERANCE/interest in anything beyond genitalia.

Put it back in or delete it altogether, no one knows where it is now anyway
I think its quite cool that a rather large group of people find relatively common interests about sexual openness, sexual play, sexual fantasy etc... it's really cool that we share such an uncommon attitude about sex and yet we have such diverse opinions about Politics (and Religion) etc. Fascinating.
Years ago before I knew anything about or anyone involved in swinging I would have guessed that there would have been a more common social thread among swingers but as was mentioned before, its probably a pretty good cross section... So, it seems to me that if we are trying to connect at a fun playful sexual level the last thing we would want to do is find ways to disagree and reasons to disconnect from people by having a special "top five" forum category that is one of the 2 most divisive topics on the planet. It's tough enough to find couples that we connect with at enough levels to be play-friends.
So, I'd say, there are plenty of other places to fight about politics (or religion), we don't need it here and since you are asking for opinions here's mine: If you leave it in there will be some well thought out points made but it will be a source of argument, anger, and name calling... we've seen it before, just like anywhere else, people get ugly here too. If you take it out only a few will miss it. There are other places, plenty of them, to debate the un-win-able debates.
This is a play place, a fun safe place to escape the mundane and intolerant mainstreamers. We don't need to create ways to find intolerance and anger within this community too. I want to know how sexy and fun you are not what your politics are... (at least not till after breakfast in the morning! wink)
As my sweetie loves to say "Be excellent to each other and party on dudes!"

I think you should allow those who want to talk about it, the ability to do so. Those people that want no part in it are perfectly capable of not clicking their mouse button. I find people that actually whine about political topics are the only ones with the issue. Just my two cents.

One thing I have learned about those in the lifestyle is that they are almost uniformly an independent sort. Think about the traits that usually combine to make up a swinger.
- Independent value system
- Willingness to go against the norm
- Adventure-seeking
- Willing to wade into unfamiliar situations with unfamiliar people for physical intimacy
- Exhibitionism (willingness to put one

So, up to now the vote is YES- 1, NO- 2 and ITs UP to ADMIN to decide - 3. Thats 5 that say no or don't care and 1 that says 'keep it top 5'.
Admin asked if it should stay in the top 5 rotation, I think they really want an answer but so far they are not getting much help. 2 to 1 with 3 I don't cares. I can kinda surmise tho' that CHRKE3 is a Yes although you haven't actually said so. So make it 2-2 with 2 "don't cares"...
CHRKE3, I clearly get your point and you are right that we can all just decide or not if its a priority...
In making what I thought was a clear answer to Admins question and my reasons for it I wanted to be helpful with a clear Yes or a No. Twice now you've sorta made the correlation that its either "talk about genitalia or the diversity of cock sucking" (as you put it) or you are intolerant and you are threatened by discussing politics... I don't know, I completely disagree... I think we're just talking about "preferences" not tolerance. If I joined a site that was all about "People who Love Ice Cream" why would I be surprised if the majority of people there didn't want to argue about "Bar-b-que"... that doesnt mean they are intolerant or in fear, they just don't prefer to make arguing about Steak one of their top 5 choices on the ice cream site. Big deal, it has nothing to do with fear or intolerance.
For me personally, when people start being vulgar and screaming in ALL CAPS and calling people names, that just means they are all out of good thoughts on the matter, all they have left is noise and that doesn't contribute anything good.
I totally agree that if you don't want to read it then you don't have to but there is one basic problem with that, in order to know that the topic has been polluted by crap in place of good thought you sorta have to read it to know...
As for Riderz Yes vote, I'm all for that. Those posts are often really clever, sarcastic and satirical but if I recall correctly, not personally attacking or insulting... its good stuff and if the discussions stayed civil I'd change my mind and engage more. Lord knows if you looked up any of my past replies I have plenty to say on the matter and I admit I'm often wrong. So, no biggie. I have a preference, it may be different than yours, but oh well... you don't need to label me intolerant or threatened (or pre label anyone who might be inclined to express a preference different than yours)... I am in fact, quite the opposite. Cheers
PS... chrke3, my buddies in MN an WI do alot of trail and lake riding on snowmobiles, if you ride you really need to come out here and get in the mountains and in the deep powder, its great... and you probably would get lucky in Utah!

I vote we put in a boxing ring and let them all beat the shit out of each other until one emerges the winner and the rest have to believe everything the winner believes with no exception.
OK on second thought....
Maybe all of you could find a way to let bygones be bygones...everyone does not have to agree with you all the time and NEVER will. Its OK to agree to disagree.
I vote to put it back in!

Isn't it funny that this sort of politically related topic has sparked such conversation about sparking political conversation? I hope that makes sense, lol.
leave it out of the top 5, if you want to see whats new just go to that forum.
Leave it out please!
here are my 2 cents
to keep it in or leave it you i vote
see end of my opinon
this site with the open discussion had the fewest name callings i have ever seen. and every one tryed to stay on topic which i enjoyed. since political it affects all of us.
but then again this is not really a good site for that type of discussion. because it can turn of so many.
now tada my vote is yes

First of all, I would like to thank DCLFUN for promoting me from a chrke2 to a chrke3
Yes...I think it should stay in the rotation.
The political forum is certainly not the only forum category where individuals have resorted to name-calling and insults when there has been a disagreement. I think you'll find heated discussions in just about any of the forum categories.
Sure, the political category may carry a heavier ratio of such interactions, but keep in mind that it was, after all, during the Presidential elections (which only happen every four years) that things may have gotten a little out of hand. Perhaps we as a community were only mirroring what was happening and being dsputed about on just about every type of media that comes into our homes?
Besides, once the new "voting" system is implemented on the forums, won't any political discussions self-regulate anyways?
Abusive, rude and crass behavior will not be tolerated on ANY subject matter or category...if I understood the premise of self-regulating correctly.
Let those of us that enjoy the intellectual masturbation that the political discussions afford us to indulge.

Hey Dale, if the two of you cum to visit Florida we would be happy to promote you to Chrke1 !!! No snow to shovel here brother.
TG, intellectual masturbation...hmm may I have permissin to use that phrase.
So we stay on topic, change our vote to yes to keep them in honor of those that fought to protect our freedom of speech.

I don't care if people want to come to a social website to HATE each other, makes perfect sense to me. (I ride the short bus)
I would prefer it not take up a spot on the front page due to my lack of interest.
But if it does appear I can ignore it like I do the "Hey show us your "GIANT VAGINA" photos. :S

Please let those wanting to talk about such issues go elsewhere. We dont come to this site to see the animosity that it created. Yes we can not click, but when 2, 3, even 5 of the top posts dealt with it, we just logged off...
Kill it or keep in in the closet where it belongs.
Kill it or keep in in the closet where it belongs.
I like the idea of making it so only 1 political topic can be seen on the home page so it doesn't overrun the other topics.
We really enjoyed the heated political topics as it was a very simple way of finding out who we most likely would or wouldn't like based on their affiliation, ideas and especially how they approached and responded to the debate.
We also like the idea of just one political post at a time, but we think the great idea of "Member Regulated Forums" would take care of most the problems, since people we're basically turning ANY topic political sooner or later!
