So just wanted to see what cam everyone is using... I know that most of you are on laptops that have the cam already in the laptop but for those that don't which one do you have and where did you get it and do you like it?
I have 2, one is a Microsoft cam that I bought about 7 years ago and its the best one i ever had. the other is a simple logitech Quickcam and I use it all the time in chats and never had any complaints.
I have a Logitech STX.
I recently bought it on eBay for $22.00 - brand new and in the original packaging (it normally retails for $59.95).
It seems to work great, and it automatically adjusts for changing lighting conditions.
It also has a built-in microphone.
I'm sure there are better cams out there, but this one works great for my needs.

I have the one built into my laptop and I have a Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision SE. That's a bit pricier, but I lubs it.
How good a one do you want? We bought one a couple years back made by Logitech and so far, it has probably seen more shelf time than actual use time. I'm looking to get rid of it myself so if you want to pay shipping, you can have it.
We found that we are allergic to it. Whenever the camera comes on, we seem to develop all sorts of issues. Weight gain, hair won't be right, eyes seem to be puffy, etc, etc. All similar to when I took a bowling class in college. During class, I could have 3 gutterballs in a row. After class, no gutterballs.

I have a couple Logitechs, always worked well for me

We bought ours at Walmart... it is a philips seems to work fine and it was about 40.00 ...
The type of webcam is less important than the lighting. I have seen $15 webcams give a better picture, better quality then $90 webcams. All because the person using it decided not have the brightest lights in the room behind them. I highly recommend getting a desk lamp with the webcam or at least make sure you have some light coming at your face. To have it behind you will defeat any webcam.
Microsoft lifecam x-6000. It is a 2 megapixel cam and comes with some cool software for added effects. I think it is a great camera, not grainy like some of the older and les expensive cams out there. Good clear picture and refresh rate is good to.
I beg to differ.
With my cam, the light from the monitor screen is sufficient to illuminate my face and head with NO other lighting in the room.
