I am not much of a profanity user (except when pissed). I wholeheartedly embrace profanity and its many uses, but seem to dispense it only as mentioned, in anger.
Since that is the primary emotion that prompts profanity from me, its use within the lifestyle is more than a little uncomfortable for me.
Is that characteristic going to prove a large obstacle with the majority of women?
How many prefer an appetizer of dirty talk as part of the process?
Also, you can probably tell I'm rather 'dry'. Personally, I prefer 'quirky' (kinda Doc Brown -Christopher Lloyd - in Back to the Future). How many of you are not too fond of people with quirky personalities?

I prefer the quirky personality as it goes along with mine. I tend to have a weird sense of humor. And lack of dirty talk and/or usage of profanity really doesn't bother me at all.
I'm not froot loops. I'm cuckoo for cocoa puffs!!! :P
Well Dale, we look at it like this. Lori and I are complete opposites and that gives us plenty to talk about and we enjoy each others differences. If we only met people that were just like us, we would lose interest very fast. We find it fun to meet others that are even a little different from us. So quirky works for us. I love to joke and usually play the joke on myself to entertain everyone else. Lori is much more reserved and thinks I am crazy. I know my elevator doesn`t reach the top floor but you have to be a little nuts to survive in this world.
As far as the use of profanity is concerned, do what you are comfortable with. Hopefully it matches the desires of the couple you are meeting. We find that mental stimulation can be a great way to get the juices flowing. The fun part is finding out what turns the other person on. We are not fans of using profanity to get us interested or in the mood.

I have no way of knowing how much exposure the initial poster does or doesn't have to the Lifestyle - but I get the impression they/he might be relatively new to it.
I could be totally wrong on this point as well, but I'm also getting the impression that the poster may have an incorrect, pre-conceived negative idea about the morality of the women who are involved in the Lifestyle.
We're all just regular folks, and gutter talk is NOT a prerequisite for getting along with others.

carrier:
Yes, relatively new (about 9 mos.)
No, pre-conceived notions about morality are not at issue at all. I pass no judgement on profanity use for foreplay (everyone has their own turn-ons and more power to them).
It really stems, I think, from the fact that growing up, profanity almost always equated to anger. Consequently, it feels like a contradiction to use it in a caring, intimate way. My point was really to find out if dirty talk was a preferred element of foreplay for most women and what those who prefer it think of those who don't practice it
