Feminists.
But everything Sarah Palin believes in and practices is antithetical
to Feminism which for me is part of one story -- connected to saving
the earth, ending racism, empowering women, giving young girls
options, opening our minds, deepening tolerance, and ending violence
and war.
I believe that the McCain/Palin ticket is one of the most dangerous
choices of my lifetime, and should this country chose those candidates
the fall-out may be so great, the destruction so vast in so many areas
that America may never recover. But what is equally disturbing is the
impact that duo would have on the rest of the world. Unfortunately,
this is not a joke. In my lifetime I have seen the clownish, the
inept, the bizarre be elected to the presidency with regularity.
Sarah Palin does not believe in evolution. I take this as a metaphor.
In her world and the world of Fundamentalists nothing changes or gets
better or evolves. She does not believe in global warming. The melting
of the arctic, the storms that are destroying our cities, the
pollution and rise of cancers, are all part of God's plan. She is
fighting to take the polar bears off the endangered species list. The
earth, in Palin's view, is here to be taken and plundered. The wolves
and the bears are here to be shot and plundered. The oil is here to be
taken and plundered. Iraq is here to be taken and plundered. As she
said herself of the Iraqi war, 'It was a task from God.'
Sarah Palin does not believe in abortion. She does not believe women
who are raped and incested and ripped open against their will should
have a right to determine whether they have their rapist's baby or
not.
She obviously does not believe in sex education or birth control. I
imagine her daughter was practicing abstinence and we know how many
babies that makes.
Sarah Palin does not much believe in thinking. From what I gather she
has tried to ban books from the library, has a tendency to dispense
with people who think independently. She cannot tolerate an
environment of ambiguity and difference. This is a woman who could and
might very well be the next president of the United States . She would
govern one of the most diverse populations on the earth.

power to get Obama elected then consider the chant that filled the
hall after Palin spoke at the RNC, 'Drill Drill Drill.' I think of
teeth when I think of drills. I think of rape. I think of destruction.
I think of domination. I think of military exercises that force
mindless repetition, emptying the brain of analysis, doubt, ambiguity
or dissent. I think of pain.
Do we want a future of drilling? More holes in the ozone, in the floor

You know it amazes me how some people are so stupid or uneducated on the petroleum business and how they would be affected without it. I, for one am in the petroleum industry and traveled all over the world to drill for Oil & Gas, as that's my job and pay check for my family.
I ask you "Die Hards," "What would you do without it? I think of how many trips to the store you wouldn't make, grow and can your own food, keep warm, and how you would even hold a job, eat, or do anything without "Oil & Gas." Then to put this all into prospective, I ask each and everyone of you, "Did you walk to work today?" Did you unplug you television sets, did you toss your computer away? All of this is made from the petroleum products. You might set and think about this before you go on shooting you mouth off about the industry.
Then for the gun thing. I too am a hunter and like the sport much like some like baseball, basketball ect. Foremost, it is my right to own a gun and that was given to me by my Fore fathers and glad we have them. If and only "IF" during 911, and the bombing of the towers, and the USA did get invaded, who would protect your butts other than those with guns. I can hear all the cries now from you "Die Hards." "Protect Me," becuse you're a banker, doctor, ect ? I don't think so, as the I'd protect "Me and my family first and you "Die Hards" would be on your own. One can only laugh of how you'd come to live by tossing rocks at a bullet or living off the land.
Geeze, get a grip people, and think before you come down on those that do have guns, work for your own selfish benifits. You might have a new car, house, and clothes, but ask yourself how you got them?
I guess in all those that beat the bush against drilling that walked to work today and those that don't have houses, computers, and live in the dream world where the weather, food, ect. is at their "Beconing Call?" My suggestion is to think what you do have and ask yourselves how and where it came from? You might have a different set of values and beliefs on the subject instead of coming down on some of us that work the hours, do the work, and supply you with the materials that make the goods which you enjoy and use.
Then to even think that Obama can save you all. He's a lawyer like Clinton and all the rest of the Democrats. He lied to you and nation wide and yet you try and tell your own children not to lie. Well, looks like to me someone has their values mixed up and should clean off their own door stepsa before shooting their opinions and ideas off about others.

Oil will always be available elsewhere. Drilling here is only an excuse to make the rich, richer. If not, then let's nationalize the oil here. Let's put the control in the hands of the people. We should take anything that can halt our economy like oil and ensure that it doesn't through nationlization. Don't tell me it doesn't work. You fight for big oil because you are biased. If your business were tobacco, you'd be telling us all that cigarettes weren't bad for you. Perhaps you shouldn't use your expertise in the industry as a point of argument.
You said something like, "Don't expect Obama to save you" and you think McCain will? You talk about lies from Clinton and Bush has been the biggest double dealing liar of them all and your boy McCain plans to follow in his foot steps.. Come on! Give me a break.
As far as our second amendement is concerned, I am all for law abiding citizens to have the ability to protect themselves. I just think that the safety of the many outweighs the safety of the few. When guns are more a detriment to society than a help, it's time to legislate regulation. If one way doesn't work, you try others. I do believe there are plenty of fucktard rednecks out there that should never own firearms. Most people that advocate firearms can't shoot and are not even educated in their safe handling and proper storage.

I am typically a moderate person with left leanings. I don't like unregulated big government, but I don't like pure capitalism either. A balance between the two to ensure the little guy isn't turned into mindless slaves to the corporate machine, deprived of education, healthcare, food and shelter, because the cost of living (food, shelter, health, education) surpasses the wage these greedy cocksuckers wish to pay. There needs to be some government involvement.
I would much rather be in the service of my fellow Americans and answer to their voice than the voice of corporations that control the government through it's economic power. Remember we are all people and people can be bought. It's a lot harder to buy millions of voters than a few politicians. Anyway... I have given both parties serious consideration and whilst I agree with some of each party, I agree more with Obama's.

OK THOUGHT, sorry I missed the intro...blood was squirting out of my eyes and my head was breaking apart and I was running low on duct tape (I listened to Hannity AND watched Real Time with Bill Mahr in the same day yesterday and I still have not recovered from the spin.)
I FULLY appreciate opinions when they are formed from original thought from people who live and work in the real world (so no politicians and Hollywood types). So my response should have said:

My views and beliefs are just that, MINE. I was only using some of them to show the point that they are not right for everyone and I do not expect people to think like me, BUT I DO EXPECT THEM TO THINK! That was what my rant was about. Ms Ensler put utter bullshit in her essay for no other reason than to incite and polarize, that pissed me off. She is entitled to her opinion, but lying to prove her point is precisely the problem with the fictional based Hollywood world. And quite frankly people who applaud bullshit like it are lumped into the pile. And I think it is how it should be, period. No matter the side, if you applaud bullshit that is false your opinion deserves to be overlooked. If you are a right wing zealot or a left wing hippie freak, talk shit, lose credibility. And the one-sided attacks and hypocrisy is just astounding and it causes me to bristle and I think this post just was a proverbial straw.
Good examples of Media Hypocrisy I have been grinding teeth over:
Hannity and Rush attacking the attacks on the prego Palin daughter by the media, saying it should not be an issue and then justifying it by using the statement "if it was an issue, we would be talking about the fact that Obama himself was illegitimately conceived" seriously, did they just claim to be not talking about it...by talking about it...? Get the duct tape.
Bill Mahr calling Palin a Jesus Freak then repeating the "Jesus was a community organizer and Pilate was a Governor" statement.....seriously wtf? My eyes are bleeding again.
They all do a fantastic job of polarizing and keep us fighting with each other, instead of really looking at the fucked world of politics and government and how they are really the ones giving us the anal reaming (not rimming...that can be fun...if you are into that) and helping those who helped them get into office.

My views and beliefs are just that, MINE. I was only using some of them to show the point that they are not right for everyone and I do not expect people to think like me, BUT I DO EXPECT THEM TO THINK! That was what my rant was about. Ms Ensler put utter bullshit in her essay for no other reason than to incite and polarize, that pissed me off. She is entitled to her opinion, but lying to prove her point is precisely the problem with the fictional based Hollywood world. And quite frankly people who applaud bullshit like it are lumped into the pile. And I think it is how it should be, period. No matter the side, if you applaud bullshit that is false your opinion deserves to be overlooked. If you are a right wing zealot or a left wing hippie freak, talk shit, lose credibility. And the one-sided attacks and hypocrisy is just astounding and it causes me to bristle and I think this post just was a proverbial straw.
Good examples of Media Hypocrisy I have been grinding teeth over:
Hannity and Rush attacking the attacks on the prego Palin daughter by the media, saying it should not be an issue and then justifying it by using the statement "if it was an issue, we would be talking about the fact that Obama himself was illegitimately conceived" seriously, did they just claim to be not talking about it...by talking about it...? Get the duct tape.
Bill Mahr calling Palin a Jesus Freak then repeating the "Jesus was a community organizer and Pilate was a Governor" statement.....seriously wtf? My eyes are bleeding again.
They all do a fantastic job of polarizing and keep us fighting with each other, instead of really looking at the fucked world of politics and government and how they are really the ones giving us the anal reaming (not rimming...that can be fun...if you are into that) and helping those who helped them get into office.
So, THOUGHT, I owe you an apology and I hope you believe I mean it.

CB - That portion was sarcasm as what people use to denigrate her, I am not saying she is qualified, and in certain instances I completely disagree with her. Qualified, hell Jimmy Carter and George W were both more qualified than Obama and Palin COMBINED!

Your plastic water bottles, yogurt cups, in fact every bit of plastic packaging, garbage bags, grocery bags,etc. are made from oil. Take a real look around your home at how many items you have that are pakaged in plastic or made of plastic. Get into your car and look at how many parts are plastic. How many od us have used disposible diapers? Women the femine hygien products you use, how many of them either use plastic in the product itself or the packaging? Take the time and look around just the room you are sitting in...how many items do you own or use that are oil based? Walk into the grocery store, how many items are packaged in oil (plastic)?
Global warming. Yes, the earth is warming. Was it not in an Ice Age at one point? Who is to say that we created it or it is part of a natural cycle of the earth? Your beliefe may not be my belief and my belief may not be your belief.

"Educated decision"?At this point where BOTH presidential hope fulls are so busy smearing each other rather than concentrating on issues it will be a "best guess". Our gut feel is something just is not right about Obama so there are 4 votes out of this house hold that will be for MCcain/Palin. Let's all hope that they talk issues in this upcoming debate and we can't wait to see the Palin-Biden debate that should be a site to see. I am all for allowing 1 pistol and/or 1 bolt/lever/semi auto rifle or shotgun for each law-abiding, non-felon family member in a household. I think all people should be required to learn firearm safety and storage before being allowed to posess them and should have to maintain 5 year written tests to prove retention of knowledge. Again a lot of people that claim they love weapons and advocate their right to keep and bear are non-shooting, unsafe fucktards. Remember, you have the right to keep and bear arms. That means any arms. If the line you draw is at pistols shotguns and rifles, what makes you anymore right than the guy that wants to make bioweapons?

Yes, people are often forced to take what they can get or the have to live on the street? What world do you live in. Many people don't have the opportunity to go to college because of the failing education system that republicans love to cut the funding to.
As far as Palin having executive experience and McCains vote history. I think you will find that there are lots of issues that McCain has failed to vote on as well. Palin's experiences making executive decisions were not 24/7 during her career. We can apply your logic against Obama to her as well. City Council is not executive. Mayor is again she's not making decisions everyday. You'll find that mayorial experience was the brunt of of her executive experience. As Governor, she's got two years in the seat with little to nothing done. She supported a bridge to nowhere project the people objected to. Alaska has the highest rape against women rate in the country and she's done very little to address that issue. She's done politically what her party has asked her to do with public programs... CUT THEM! So her fellow NEOCONS can say "hey look it's failing". She also supports a sex education program that doesn't work and her very own daughter proves it doesn't. But without insurance at all no doctor's office will even see you without almost $150 payment up front before they even schedule the appointment. And if you are unlucky enough to have even the mildest mental illness, one that is treated and controlled very nicely with a minimum of medication, then suddenly you are not eligible to get private health insurance without paying almost $1200 a month per person. How many people can afford to pay that premium and then pay an addtional $500 a month for the medication that is no longer covered and still have enough for the other copays on office visits?

What are his other options? Ok, I don't dispute they are for sale, but evidently not very easy to aquire without clean credentials. I'm really not sure why a law obiding citizen would want them. If for no other reason, I think it is very dangerous to let anyone who thinks our invasion and take over of Iraq was a "task from God", sit in a position where they could lead this nation. I think guns are a right, no question about it.
As with ALL rights and freedoms, there comes responsibilities, for guns:
1.) Securing of weapon at all times, if you do not and it is used in an illegal manner, you will be serving the same sentance (or worse if a child gets it) as the criminal.
2.) If you desire to possess weapons, you will have to take classes to demonstrate and learn how to properly maintain, store, use, and secure said weapons.
3.) I do NOT think any gun should be banned from law-abiding citizens, yes, even fully automatics. If you want to buy an M-60, have a good time, it is going to cost you, but have fun. MOST people I know with a Class 4 have them for fun, nothing more. You have to admit Don, the Hog is fun as hell to shoot.
4.) I do not like silencers being legal. Sure you have to have a Class 4 (at least you say, I am unsure, I am working a gun show this weekend, I will find out, I know a few dealers who sell them) to get them and such, BUT they are small, easily concealed (thus easily stolen), and lend themselves to be EASILY used in criminal activities. Hell, even Hollywood figured this out, look how many hitmen use them...even though they are louder than the movies, they do work fairly well.
5.) In your estimation, there should be a new amendment to fix our 2nd Amendment? I do not see it, it is part of the Bill of Rights, these are something that, IMHO, should NOT be monkeyed with. Let the legislators and Supreme Court handle the changes, don't monkey with The Constitution.

If you don't clarify it, it will always be in dispute. Again, I still think that M60's are unnecessary. It's just another weapon that when stolen by a criminal can be devastating. If it weren't contained superbly by the LAPD, the North Hollywood Shootout could've been one of the worsed shooting sprees ever. Why? Because of Class 3 weapons. The basic principle of the Amendment is giving you the right to defend yourself and your loved ones and not for leisure. I love to shoot too, but I would be willing to give as much of it up as possible in order to save innocent life.

After the voters in Florida passed Amendment one thinking how great it would be for them as sold by the Sheep in Lions clothing Charlie Crist. When something usually sounds to good to be true it usually is. Becareful what you wish for.

Guns are dangerous, no doubt. But it's the world we live in and that fact is unavoidable. Can we "unmake" guns, nuclear and biological technology? Nope. Therefore not only do you have to be the "moral (and believe me I hate the word "moral") authority" in this world, but we also always HAVE to have the bigger stick.
Now to bring it down to a local stand point, it's quite similar. There is nothing anyone can do at this point about it. Guns exist and are designed to kill. I know you've heard the saying "You outlaw guns, only outlaws will own guns." Well if you think about that one fact alone it puts a lot into perspective. There are a lot of things that are against the law in this country, drugs, kidnapping, rape, murder... and all of these things routinely involve firearms. And regardless of hte law they happen. Now would you rather live in a world where only these people are carrying the key to a quick death. Or would you rather live in a world where the heroic, and valiant people are there to protect the innocent and good people of this country?
It's easy to point to Britain and say "well they have outlawed guns and they don't have a problem." But that's a gross statement of misinformation. Most people assume that's the case and rarely does anyone hear or learn any different.

I for one will always support firearms and more importantly firearms education. My children understand that my firearms are extremely dangerous. However from a young age I will teach them the ins and outs of firearms safety and how to secure a weapon. My children have a healthy respect of firearms as a result. They understand they are dangerous and I wouldn't for a second allow them to be comfortable around them. I keep them aware and respectful of the power and thats what's important.
So to recap. To suggest that just because they hurt more than they help means they are to blame is just ludicrous. And to suggest that it's comparable to Weapons of Mass Destruction is just grasping at straws on a topic that obviously means a lot to you. I understand why people are scared of guns and why they would want the control. However control is always an illusion. Law is only for those who follow them. I would like you to show me hard credible evidence and FACTS that the conservative party wants to control who you can marry, fuck, or teaching sex ed to kids.
You have the option to let your child take sex ed. You the parent must sign a wavier saying that you allow your child to take the class. If you approve, let them take it. If not, don't let them take it. Its not very hard to understand..

Florida is one of those places, to get a CWP, you need only fire ONE round down range, you do not have to hit the target, use the weapon you will carry, nothing.

I don't know where you took your cwp class but thats not so in volusia county.
You have to sit in an 8 hour class and hit the target 25 out of 50.and you had to shoot from 20
50, 100, and 200 ft. and hit the target each time or you will fail.
and get finger printed ,go through the background screening, and this is not
guess work this is from experience, we both have one.
And as for citizens owning firearms we can carry them in our cars, and as long as we have them, we can protect ourselves regardless of the circumstances, and we own 4.
And a shot guns the best for home defense, it makes a distinctive sound when a shell is being chambered ........
