First saturday of the month meet & greet at Emeralds in Gainesville. May 3rd. This event is open to all for a nice no pressure get together to get to know others in our area.
Hope to see you there... Remember if it is your first time look for the big "Plush" red rose it is usually there by 9:30. Don't be shy pick it up and some one will ask if you were looking for the rose.
Emeralds is located at 2441 NW 43rd Street.
This is a public bar and the employees are unaware of our group or meetings.
Emeralds is a really nice place. It's two stories with the second story being a large loft-like area with a second bar, tables, a TV area with couches and a decent amount of room. The bottom floor has plenty of tables, a dance floor, bandstand and, of course, another bar. The atmosphere is quite good and the bands tend to be good! The music tends to be classic rock, popular and much more mixed. There's plenty of parking and food is not far away.
You have to be at least 21 to get into Emeralds.
Starting time will be 8:30pm. There is NO cover charge for all those who get there BEFORE 9:00pm, after that there is a $3 cover charge.
***Directions***
Coming north to Gainesville from Orlando or Tampa areas: Take I-75 to the third Gainesville exit (Newberry Road), get off and then turn right onto Newberry road. Go straight thru 8 lights (I think, it's about 4 miles) until you get to the 9th light which is NW 43rd Street and turn left. After the second light (about 2 miles or so) there is a small mall, Thornbrook Village, quick turn right there. Emeralds is toward the middle of Thornbrook Village.
Coming south to Gainesville from Georgia, Lake City or Jacksonville areas: Take I-75 South to the second Gainesville exit (Newberry Road) and then follow the same directions as listed above.
Coming north via 441 from Ocala: Take 441 north. Gainesville is about 36 miles. When you get into Gainesville (441 becomes 13th Street) go straight. When you get to University Avenue (which is also Newberry Road) turn left and go about 5 miles or so until you get to NW 43rd Street. Turn right on 43rd Street, go about 2 miles, quickly after second light turn right into small mall, Thornbrook Village -- OR -- Stay on 441 (13th Street) until you get to NW 16th Avenue (maybe 4-5 miles) and then turn left. Go straight until you get to the 5th light which is NW 43rd Street and then turn right. Quick turn right again into a small mall, Thornbrook Village. You're there!
Coming South via 301 from Jacksonville or Lake City: Take I-10 (west from Jacksonville or east from Lake City) to the Baldwin / Starke exit which is 301. Take 301 South. Be very careful traveling thru Lawtey and Waldo they are notorious speed traps! In Waldo 301 splits , DO NOT take the overpass! Veer to the right at the sign that says Gainesville, this is Waldo Road. Take Waldo Road into Gainesville (approximately 13 miles or so) until you get to NE 16th Avenue and then turn right. Go straight thru, I think, it's 8 lights and then turn right on NW 43rd Street which I think is the 9th light. Then another quick right turn into a small mall, Thornbrook Village. You're there! --
There are other ways to go you might try google or mapquest with the address for kicks...
