Question! I have a bachelorette party coming up for a (platonic) friend of mine. I'm not a big fan of the usual badly acted, no plotline porn. I wanted to get something for her that is a little better acted, has a good storyline and still has some graphic erotic content. Is artistic porn just a myth? Any ideas where I might find something like this that isn't completely soft-core?
One film that I find most women love is Zazel. It's very artistic yet erotic. They put some big bucks into the production and theres no acting, just a small storyline. It has won numerous awards and has received high praise from everyone in the industry. Here a description:

Woo hoo! I managed to find Zazel at a local shop. I haven't had a chance to watch any or it yet, but the cover sure looks interesting! I was also curious about the Andrew Blake films. Are they pretty much just girl/girl or is there some other content in them as well?
OK...Zazel is artistic, but there's no acting at all. It's pretty much just one sex scene after another with people painted like tigers, or who look like statues, etc. I'm looking for something that has content....where there is a storyline that is somewhat believable (as opposed to the pizza guy showing up and the first line being "Here's your pizza, wanna fuck?") Where the acting skills are more than just people reading at a 4th grade level. Maybe I'm just wishful thinking, but there HAS to be something out there that's better than the rest of the mindless junk out there.

You won't find a "porn" like that but you can find something like Wild Orchid this is a 1990 film that can still steam up a room

I guess it was wishful thinking. I had heard some good things about the Candida Royale films, but still probably not what I am looking for. Wild Orchid was OK....if it didn't have that sleazy Mikey Roarke in it.
You might try "Hearts and Minds" It is kind of an epic type film. Set in the WWI era, i believe. Multiple sex scenes set in different atmospheres of the time with a narrator. Sounds kind of weird the way I describe it I think, but it is actually a good one in my opinion and may at least be worth a shot for you! :!
For that matter - you might want to try anything directed by Red Ezra! LOL

There is more to it than hi sally and then they fuck for the next hour. If I recall right it is kind of a study of a couple that can trade places with each other. Torri Wells was at the top of her game in this one. If you do get it let me know how you liked it.

It was actually years ago and I can no longer remember the name of the film, the producers or the director, but it was porn with an actual storyline. Maybe by what I remember of the film someone else my have seen it and can remember something important. Commonly enough the film centered around a young woman that wanted more out of life than rural Iowa could offer. She hopped a bus and headed west to seek fame and fortune. She had some adventure on the bus trip, but believe it or not, no sex on the bus. The first sex scenes didnt occur until later in the film after she started developing friendships and was convinced by a producer that she was perfect for his movies. It's been almost 20 years since I rented this movie, so everthing is more than a little fuzzy.
You might also want to try "Snow Leapards" although most movies dont have very much if any good acting. This one is close it has a story line and great sex scenes in it.
The best idea we've been given is to try the local video store and look for NR movies. They usually have a story and some okay sex scenes.
