We just wanted to let everyone know about some of the new forum features you can expect when we do the upgrades.
SELF-MODERATION
With all of the flaming, arguing, bashing, etc... that happens every once in a while and since we do not moderate the forums, we have come up with a system (based on something we found elsewhere but cannot remember the name to give credit) that allows the forums to be self-moderated by the users. It's a point based system where members can vote whether or not they find a posting abusive or 'not to topic.' After accumulating so many points, a post (or reply) will automatically be removed. There will be a few more factors involved in the automatic decision process but basically if the masses finds something inappropriate, it will self regulate.
CONTENT & MEDIA
We have blocked the ability to add code to the forums to prevent some type of attacks to the website and members browsers. However, we will have a system to allow you to add these things by using keywords in brackets as well as allow you to create your own 'personal' posting space by customizing the look of your posting as well as adding images and backgrounds, etc... as TequilaRose has done in the past with his postings. This will allow you to add things such as videos, YouTube videos, images, files and more.
QUOTES
As with other forums, you will be able to 'quote' another users posting.
FONTS & COLORS
You will be able to change fonts, font colors and font sizes to an extent. We don't want huge fonts taking over the forum but moderately sized fonts will be available.
That's a few of the things for now... If you have any other suggestions, please list them. We'll see about adding them but do not expect it.
Your feedback is also welcome....

It would also be nice if there were a way to "tag" a thread to make it easier to follow. That way if there is a particular topic you want to follow you don't have to remember exactly where it was posted to.
agree with tagging to make things easier to get back to
another feature well i guess this would be more of a moderation thing but here in the whats new for the site area there are all kinds of posts about get togethers and random stuff.
Maybe the ability for members to flag a mesage as in the wrong category and either the poster and or the admin can move it to the correct forum area.
Its hard to find features and feature requests when all the other posts are there especially if the site were to hit the numbers i bet its going to take on now days

would it be possible to have "the last 5 forum posts" on the home page changed to "last forum posts - one per category" in other words, 1 most recent general lifestyle talk, 1 most recent lifestyle question, etc. - that way as each weekend approaches the 5 most recent forum posts won't always concern dating attempts in Utah - I know site is Utah-based, but as the weekend approaches, the 5 most recent forum osts seem to resemble a Utah newspaper want ad section - great for Utah, just a little more difficult for the rest of us to find interesting stuff - no offens Utah! - obviously u guys rock - hope this made sense - still waking up!
Great idea CHRKE2. We fully agree with you. We would love to see this happen as well. It would also be cool to be able to see which category they are from and be able to click on the category to look at the additional posts for those categories. Have a great day all!
