Swingers Forum - Christain Swingers?

line
Previous Post Next Post
I have heard it on the internet though I have never heard a swinger that I have met personally say they are Christains. Maybe I am wrong in thinking this, but I do not believe that Christainity and swinging can mix. I just do not think it is possible. It seems morally impossible. I am no bible philosopher, but I know that there are things stated in the bible that do not point to swinging being accepted by God.

I don't know. That is why I am here. What are your opinions on it? Is it possible? Can you be a Christain and be a swinger? Enquiring minds want to know.
It depends on whether you take the scriptures literally, or, as in some faiths, a more objective and liberal view. Considering how it has been translated... as well as the group of men who decided which "books" would become the bible many centuries ago... there will always be disagreement. Try www.libchrist.com for info about this subject.

From an earlier post on the same subject...

I work in a church and know that most members here would frown upon the lifestyle. let me add that most of them are retired while I am in my late 20's.

But a young minister that we had here, who left to head up another chruch, and I had a number of discussions about sex and whatnot.

His opnion was that he didn't think God honestly cared what we did with our sex lives, that there were more important things to be concerned with. (as long as it doesn't negatively effect others)

I'm not sure if it's a generation thing?

My wife was rasied in a baptist church which seemed to be a "not talk about sex" kinda congregation, yet she and her family are very open in their discussions, some might say (me) a little too discriptive in their talks (like grandma and her new husband) but open none the less.

My basic theology is that Jesus doesn't want you to live a life of repentance or guilt but rather that you enjoy all that life has to offer, and most importantly be decent and caring towards others, not necessarily in a sexual way but in a friendship helping way.

The bottom line is that we all screw up from time to time, but don't dwell on it, learn from your mistakes, ask for forgivenness and move on to help others.

With all that said I'll step down from my soapbox now
Anyone have any links to research this beyond Libchrist? I believe you can be a christian and swing.
We have to say from our church background and understanding of scripture (and we were both unpaid ministry when we married...how things change lol!) that the answer is a big NO. Now we do not practice our faith at all and have totally fallen out due to some other reasons that we don't really want to get into.
Not trying to start a flame war or change anyone else mind, if you still have faith, more power to you!:D This is just our personal understanding of the Bible, for us being a Christain Swinger is the same as a Jewish Nazi, it's just not going to work. Of course the church thing has had us so screwed up anymore that we hope we are wrong. We are on here as well, so you know who our friends are.
Just two more people the church has shot in the back of the head and rolled into the ditch,

WOW CODA Always room for open minded discussion but that was pretty harsh comparison.

I was on Church Council, the Catholic School board (as president for several years), the Catholic Youth Organization, a room dad (that goodness for a great employer), and rarely if ever missed a field trip. So YES, they can mix and YES I think a fellow board member and her husband were also swingers.

We had gone to church for years with swinger friends and 1/3 of the people at the First Communion of their youngest child were swingers.

NOT MILDLY suggesting that our way was the only way but it CAN work.

GREAT Topic
We had a great house party one weekend and one of the couples, very good friends, got up early, showered and got dressed. They kissed everyone good-bye that had stayed the night and explained they had to get to church because they were
We believe that being christian and being in the lifestyle go hand and hand the bible teaches to love everyone, be kind to everyone have you ever stopped to think that just maybe the reason you meet each and every person thoughtout life is not by accident?

We have found since being in the lifestyle that there have been some profound reasons we have met certain people in this lifestyle here is a quick version of a actual event. While we were in europe working for a contractor a cpl contacted us on a swing site they were from Virgina.

Once we met(M&S) they admitted that they never really thought we would meet face to face but after returning from europe we had to travel through Richmond Virgina and we figured what the hell lets look them up so we did and had one hell of a time with them now here is the "divine part".

Another cpl (B&S) we had met who contacted us while in Germany (they were traveling through europe) and we manged to meet play and have some fun guess where they are from? Yep you guessed it ,Richmond Virgina!

While spending time with the first cpl (M&S) we contacted the other cpl (B&S) they invited us to a party but said "our friends could not come along until they had met them first" so, we did not go to thier party but we did put these two cpls in contact with one another guess what they are now the best of friends and go to each others parties now!

Go figure, they found each others through us thousands of miles away yet when they met each others they found out they only lived a block away from each other and they both belonged to the very same prestigeous BDSM society! in the D.C. area!

We have many many facts that has happended since we have been in the lifestyle and to us we could not have planned that it had to be divine intervention! Does the lifestyle and christianity go hand and hand you bet and won't convince us otherwise we have had too many of those types of situations happen since we have been in the lifestyle. Some will say its the devil at work we beg to differ it all depends how you interpet what the teachings tell you and who is to say that the bible has not been manipulated since the days of christ?

Just look at Solomon. David and others that are cincidered to be like God. hen look at history itself and who wrote most of the bible and in what era. Do the research and come too your own conclusions.

We personally believe that many (most) veiw pionts are made throughh the eyes of the generations of the present. i.e. Gay used to mean happy. Now it means your homosexual. Words have their orginal meaning change over time just what is perceived to be right or wrong changes with the times.

Yes you can be a christian. That statement only me believe in christ nothing else.

We are both born again and read our bibles Regularly nad believe the marriage bed is sacred and what we do with it is our bussiness as long as we follow the guidlines. No animals, children, or relatives.
Juat wanted to add my 2 since worth
We just wanted to add what we wrote was our personal feelings and yes it's a open wound in our lives. If you can have peace with the two that's a great thing, the last thing we want to do is take you away from it or plant doubts.
Swinging and being In Christ just will not fit with our back ground and how we were taught. We both really wish we could let that go, but we can't as it's too ingrained. Despite the fact that we now know we were taught man twisted lies and distortions of scripture, the whole thing has left such a bad taste in our mouths that we could not even attend more "moderate" churches with out the wounds being opened.
What mostly wanted to say is this is our expeirence and we didn't mean to offend any one. It's just how we feel.
It is a very interesting topic and we have enjoyed reading all the posts.
Thanks

If your interpretation of the scriptures is very literal, then the answer is of course that swinging and christianity can not co exsist.

I am not a believer in the INSTITUTION of Christianity as a whole, I do not beleive that ANYBODY who has taken the time to educate themselves about the origins of Christianity (particularly the Roman Catholic Church) and organized religeon (sp?) could be a true believer, however that in no way means that I do not believe in GOD.

In both of our opinions, swinging is morally fine as long as both partners agree on the context, the rules, and always respect one another. If you do not keep these very sacred simple truths in any relationship, let alone a swinging relationship, it is doomed to fail.

Thats our .02 cents.

Politics!?! Okay we are out of here!;)
That's one thing that we don't get enough of in this town (grin.)
We really are enjoying reading the different views on here..it's hard to think of not being on these forums.
Have a great saturday night!

Who are spending thier 3rd saturday night sick or injured...oh well, we will have lots of making up to do in the coming months!:D
I believe that a person can be both a good Christian and a swinger.

First you have to remember that anyone can use the Bible to prove any point. Many people do this by pointing to a single verse or even part of a verse. This in itself is wrong. You have to take the entire Book into account. Most of what is preached today has no reference in the bible or there are words from God forbidding it. The Bible teaches us not to worship idols but everywhere you look you see crosses and crufixes. The list goes on and on. Today's organized religion is based more on tradition than anything else.

The Ten Commandments do teach us to not commit adultry but here is where interpretation is important. The common synonym for adultery is infidelity as well as unfaithfulness or in colloquial speech, cheating. We always know what the other is doing so we are not commiting adultery.
I think overall Religion has a poor track record when it comes to morallity. That is one of the reasons there are so many divisions in christianity. Often, when someone wants to justify their veiw on an issue they use religious interpitation to back it, some have even started new religions or branches of their previos religion to accomidate their position. Wars have been fought , people persecuted, tortured and put to death in the name of religion, and it still occurs on this very day.

I remember a statement, said to be made by Jesus Christ: "He who has not sinned cast the first stone". I think the person about to be stoned was accused of adultry. One of his close followers and friends was a prostitute. He went to the temple to tell the holier than thou, they were missing the point, and if I recall he was said to have given his sermons in the streets, and roads to anyone who wanted to listen.

Karl Marx (I do not believe in Communism) refered to religion as the "opium of the people". I think he may have been on to something. I had 12yrs of religious study in Catholic grade & high school and I think rather than brain washing me it opened my eyes up to the contradictions in religion. I think you have to step away from religion to be really objective, when looking at the morality of any issue. I feel a persons faith and beliefs are a personal and individual thing. Organized religion can often pollute your judgement, if you let it. If you can step away from it and look objectively at your choices in life, you may also find there is still room for you to step back in, and find a place for yourself in its boundries, also.

I think like COTA has experienced, religion has let a lot of us down in one way or another. It is up to each of us to make up our own minds, when it comes to matters of faith and morality. Personally I don't think religion should cast stones.
Respecting what Karl Marx said doesn't make you a communist.....he was right. It all boils down to fear, the Christian religion uses it, and so does the republican party. Why you ask? Because it's easier to control people when they are afraid.I don't understand how anyone who is free with their sexualitty can be either a Christian, or a republican....but that's just me. I mean it's not liberals that wanna ban pornography, or ban a womans right to do what she wants with her body. In my humble opinion, if you don't like abortion, don't fucking have one, period, end of discussion. Btw, If you disagree, I'm a liberal, I think you have a right to do so, I don't think you should have to stand in "free speech zones" , or be a registered republican to address your president. But this is my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
Umm are Mormons Christians? I do not pretend to know, but have personally met MANY, MANY a Mormon couple (online in chat anyway) in the "lifestyle".....We have wondered how this relates to them religiously and personally.....Of course, we do not judge and will never judge someone's motives for swinging, just were curious how they justify swinging with their religion. I will watch this thread for more input :)
No judgement intended,

Me, male half, am a born again, spirit filled child of god. I grew up Penticostal(sp?), but I have since learned to think for myself. I do beleave that Adultry in the bible refeared to cheating. Going behind your husband/wifes back & sleeping with someone else. It is all in how you look at it & its true translation. Look at "Thou shalt not kill". This is NOT you will not kill someone like everyone says. If so David, who killed Golith would have not made it into heaven. God himself helped David kill Golith & he himself killed others. This in itself would mean God committed a sin. The correct, in my eyes & other preachers I have talked with about this, is "Thou shalt not Kill' Means you shall not committ cold blooded murder. It is all in how you take the meaning. So I do beleave you can be a Christain, go to church & still swing. I could get more indepth but will not :).
Great to see this thread going on and not causing anyone to get defensive. That goes to show there are a lot of open minds on this site. I guess it is a part of what it takes to be in this lifestyle.

It is a shame that our society as a whole is not this open minded. I would say, that most people would accept cheating before they would swinging, only because they are used to the double standards in our culture. I find it odd that dishonesty would prevail over the feeling of freedom that truthfulness brings.
Bravo! Lovebug
My religion is GOD, and I don't believe that GOD cares if you swing. He/she just experiences it and evolves. Can you imagine we are all small individuations of the One Spirit that is everything; experiencing life in the physical realm? Whew!
Greetings all,

we just wanted to make a quick comment on what a great bunch of people there are in this site. We've seen forums about this subject b4 and it never was pretty. This is nice to see.

Our only comment on this subject is... perspective, its all about your personal perspective. If you read the bible and take it word for word then no, you can't be a Christian and be in the lifestyle. For us (and we both have a very deep religious up bringing) we believe that if Christ taught us one thing, He taught us that our relationship with God, whatever, whoever that may be, is a very personal one. Each one of us is like no other, and so goes our relationship with God. If Christ came back and walked the streets today, He would get the same reaction that He did over 2000 years ago, and that
We got up and looked back at this thread today and we have to say we agree that this is a great group of people here. Man, with everyone expressing thier thoughts on this (Including our minority opinion) and not having a flame war or having things get personal is a very cool thing. We are impressed !!
We still will not touch the politics though!
Art and Dawn:D
We also have to agree what a great group who has responded to this post normally you talk religion or politics and the flames are so high you can't even see the trees its a pleasure to participate in this forum.
COOL THREAD!
Guess our only comment would be what is the definition of being a Christian? If you believe in GOD and in Christ, but you do things that are contrary to the moral beliefs... doesnt that just make you a sinner ? We believe strongly in the teachings of our religion... attend church on a regular basis and maintain a fairly good standing in our area. However, we do have our other life which is contrary to our beliefs and we accept there will be consequiences we will have to pay some day for that lifestyle. We just accept it. We need both sides in our lives and we have found a good balance that is very satisfying.
We are both of the mind that being a christian, or following any organized religeon, usually means that you would try to live your life to the best of your ability. Respect your body, your mind, and others. Treat them the way you yourself wish to be treated, right?

Swinging should not have any bearing on these things. In fact, if more swingers treated each other in this way, we would not see threads titled, "Rude or disprespectful people." or "Interracial swinging" etc etc. I agree with the person who said that you can be a good "christian" and also be a swinger.

Its all about the way you conduct yourself. Its all about moderation and balance. You can drink but you shouldnt drink to excess. You can have fun, but not at the expense of others. I think that it should be a no brainer for all of us.

But it is harder for some than others. LoL.

HEY... got a great idea... Lets start the Church of the Christian Swingers.

Oh come on now.... you all know I was just kidding... and I take it back, (especially since that bolt of lightning split the tree out front). Guess now I need to be concerned about someone burning the male/female symbols in my front yard?

On a more serious note, and Dr. Phil could never explain this.... Some of the most Christian like people we have met have been in lifestyles. We wont try to explain why, we really dont know ourselves... but we believe the comments so far in this forum bare it out. We dont feel the hostility here.
