To be allowed to legally immigrate, you actually have to prove (in so many words) that you are not going to be a burden on society. IOW, If you are a criminal, no education, etc, etc, you are rejected. Also, you are going to have to study enough of the country's civics lessons to pass the test. AFAIK, it is sometimes more knowledge than some US Born Citizens have. Does it bother me? Not really. Why? Because those that come in, could be an asset. You come into my house with a suitcase full of money? Welcome Friend. You come knocking on my door smelling of garbage with no money and job and want me to feed you? Step up and see the door slam on your face.
On the southern border part. I say kick em all out, lock down the border and let the revolt start. I would be happy to watch from the side line and keep it from spilling over to our country. I have spent the last 13 + years in the military defending it. I will spend at least 7 more doing the same. I hate to see it go to hell cause of the liberals and the illegals. I am not sure what more to do than vote and try to get people to see it through my eyes. I may not have all the answers but I bet my way would work.. I am sure a lot of people would be un happy with my methods but I would be more would love to join me in the efforts.

Write to your congressman. You can do this online and tell them you will fire them if they don't stand up and do what you want. I write mine all the time and I write the others in my state. They get back east and do what they want if no one complains. Locking down the border is the first step. There needs to be a system put in place to clear new and old hires for employers. Then big fines for every illegal they hire. Also remember this. Just because you are born here in the United States. You are not a "legal citizen" of this country if your parents are not legal to begin with. NO ONE will tell you this. Just ask your attorney general of your state.

I really didn`t want to reply here but have to let some of you hear what I have heard and see how you feel. I work with four immigrants, all here legally. Two have no interest in learning our language and only speak enough to get by. Another one reads my dictionary during breaks and we exchange language lesson to help each other learn the others language. He is interested in learning about this entire country and seems like a very decent person.
Now, immigrant number four is from Ireland. The following, maybe not word for word is what I have to hear most days of the week.

Femos, we did try to lure him to the park where he would have been bound and gagged and held over the waiting gators but unfortunitely my lack of a poker face gave it away and he knew something was up. He was smart enough to apologize but that is only because we were threatening either bodily harm or deportation. He claimed his remarks were meant against the war and not the girl specifically.
He remains still a loner because nobody likes him but he enjoys it that way. His own wife makes fun of him and I think she would leave him if not for the kids. He and I get into it several times a year but that has calmed down the past two years since I told him that I fantasize about all the different ways there are to make him suffer in pain. I think I have gotten inside his head because he always keeps one eye open around me.

That was very interesting and scary. He did not mention tha Legal Aliens pay taxes and are not allowed to receive a tax refund on the taxes they pay.

I am going to throw a few things out there and wish I could remember the details but maybe someone here will.
I knew a guy who won a lottery in Cuba and the prize was to leave Cuba legally to come to the USA and he had one year to use his "winnings" or he lost it. He waited to the last minute to leave because his wife became pregnant and he wanted to be there for the baby but had to leave before she was born. Roughly five years later he was able to get his wife and daughter here and in that time he was allowed short visits back in Cuba with them and if he overstayed his visit then he would have to remain in Cuba. Has anyone else heard of this lottery or the rules he spoke of.
Some of this I remember seeing on the television was the immigrants getting to USA shores and before they got on DRY land if they were caught they had to be sent back but if they got to land then they were able to stay here. We actually had people on the beach trying to run in the water to catch these immigrants before they made land.
In a seperate story on Dateline I think it was they did a story about how the immigrants come here and suddenly get headaches and are granted disability. This especially pisses me off because my sister was born with two handicaps and still worked her entire life before her passing.
Finally from television those with health problems come here because we have to treat them in our hospitals. They must have to pay for medical in their country so they come here and stiff us for the bill then.
On the radio I heard a few of the laws we have to abide by if we want to become citizens of Mexico. We have to learn the national language there which is spanish. We can not oppose anything the president says in public. Those are the two that stick out in my mind but there were others.

Bust the people hiring illegals and you'll take away the problem. Fine the people and businesses hiring and harboring them so severely that they will think twice about it and you'll stop the problem.
