We are looking for a couple with the sophistication to understand what legs on a bottle of wine are. That is preferably no less than 3 years younger or 15 years older than us! We seem to be the only ones, disconcerning!!! Fine wine is a lost art some parents forgot to teach!
sweet you guys look hot as hell we would like to get to know ya

Legs are usually more noticed on the glass than on the bottle. They can be seen by tilting a glass of wine and then tilting it back. The (leggs) are the streaks that cling to the glass for a moment before running back down into the wine. Yes, they are an indication of the alcohol (body) of the wine. I think we've had a bottle or two. Welcome young enophile!
Ya know...
I never really have had more than a glass of wine in my life.
It's a shame.
But hey! We we would love to learn.
WHO WANTS TO TEACH US!?!?!?!??!

All I know about Legs on Wine is this. . .I'm sure at times that bottle of wine for sure has legs on it, because it walks away and starts flirting with others, every time I get her back, its all gone damn it ! ! !

Okay, I had to respond to this one. First of all it is very sad that you live so far away.
However, the true answer to your challenge is the legs tells you how sweet the wine is. It is the sugars that slow down the wine to make legs and the more sweetness equals longer legs.
Your legs tells us you are a very sweet wine to the taste buds. A dessert wine I am sure!
Good luck.

I have a good vintage of Boons Farm. Was yesterday a good year?
I used to work with the wine steward at the Kuilumia hotel in Hawaii.
I found that I enjoyed the Reds better then the white. However there are a few realy good white wines. With that being said I know a few friends that enjoyed Whites better than reds.
wished i could find a bottle that brigham young made.

The term legs comes from when you swirl the wine in your glass. It is the streaks that line the side of the glass as it runs back towards the pool in the bottom of the glass. It is generally accepted that the more legs the wine has the better the quality of wine.
Hehe,
I think they were just looking for people they had something in common with.
HOTFORSEX622 - I love a good wine, Ms. K_T has been gaining a great appreciation of wine over the last year or so. We're in your friend's list. Let's go wine shopping, teach us something, we'll teach you something.

Anyone been to Bacchus in Park City?
Any other suggestions in Utah that have a large wine collection to sample from? I miss living in California where you could get 1,000s of different bottles from all over the world.
I'm a Shiraz kinda guy. No, not Syrah, although I'll drink that too. And a good Muscat for after dinner.

oh yah no boxes!!! Thats not wine!!!
We host two or three large parties a year (50 people or more). We try to keep to a single theme and plan on a bottle per person. Count us in. Troy and Cyndy.
If you hold a bottle of wine up and look at the bottle in some sun you will see the natural sugar crystals in white wine at least thats what we mainly drink "Spatelese" to be exact at least that is what we were told by German wine growers when we were in Germany.

Ah, we presume you are referring to the Gibbs-Marangoni effect.
And no, you wouldn't see that with boxed wine.

Legs are a product of the simple fact that alcohol evaporates more quickly than water. The alcohol crawls up the glass as it evaporates, but since there is a film of water on top, it is pushed up in an arch. Eventually gravity wins, the water's surface tension is broken, and down runs the water, hence legs! This is called the Marangoni effect.
Frenchmen (and women) however call them tears. Alcohol content(legs or tears)is a good indicator of body, but not a full indicator of taste or quality, simply one component of the wine. Personally, I like european and south american as well as a few south african and australian wines and find the californian wines a bit off of my taste, now if someone could explain that one too me!
Personally, I am picky to what i like, but it has not much to do with the price or supposed quality of the wine and more to region.
Draper wine store...a secret....have you been there on a friday night? looks like half of the state knows that little secret. My favorite secret wine store and I am not shitting you....Costco in Las Vegas, half the price and three times the selection. hooooorah.

OMG, I love going shopping at the WalMart in Vegas. Now I'll have to bring my CostCo card with me!
OK, let me open a can of worms here... Someone mentioned that box wine can not be included. Well, I am a very good judge of wine. I love Shiraz mainly but know Cabs very well.
I have to say, there are some very good boxed wines. They are not the wines of yesteryears. Growers who supply the big boys out there sell their surplus to the boxed companies. In several years (1998, 2002), there was such a surplus in California, that some of the best vineyards were selling their surpluses to box companies. So, you never know what you are getting! Now, I'm not saying box is better over say, a Jacob's Creek or Opus One.
This is sort of like the screwcap vs. cork debate. I prefer cork for ceremonial reasons and screwcap when I want to be assured there is no taint in the bottle.
Happy V-Day!
