We usually tip $5 - $6 bucks as a flat...We are not that big of a family...so it usually is two pizza's and some breadsticks...E & K
We usually tip around $5-6 as well. When we order we usually get 2-3 pizzas. I am curious to see where this goes.
I will be honest. I know the price for delivery and pick up differ from the place we get it about 2-3 bucks..... so we know part of the tip is already in the cost so I usually tip between 2-3 bucks.
I will be patient if you cum over and help me Mr. TRIXIEE hehe
Man i got off topic again.....LOL

Man i got off topic again.....LOL
well, i usually tip about 5 bucks.....hey J i dont mind that ur doped up, i could cum over and scratch that itch, ever so gently..wink wink...A
well obviously people dont care..im still curious though....LOL
always about $5
Guess we were to late for this one. Glad to know we are average tippers.
Hope you don`t mind if I take this in a somewhat different direction. Does anyone tip your service people such as the mail carrier, trash collector, security guard if you live in a gated community, your banker, etc...
When we lived in Philadelphia it was a known fact that tips for the mail carrier would be in the mail box as outgoing mauil just before the holiday. Trash collectors knew to look under the lid before grabbing the bags of trash before the holidays as there would be a card with money in it.
When we moved to Florida and I told people this they thought I was kidding. Even the people we remember at the holiday time look surprised when we give them something. So what about everyone else, is this a tradition where you live?

I used to work at a ski resort as a snowboard instructor. And there was there was a general rule that locals don't tip. But if you were lucky you would get a lesson from back east and on average they would tip $20 for a 1hr lesson, if you were really lucky and had an all day they bought lunch and a $50-60 tip.
We tip 0-10 dollars depending on the size of the order, the quality and speed of service and how much dosch we have to spare. While I think gratuity is an unfortunate circumstance cheapskate businesses put on their customers by expecting them to compensate the employees for doing their job, I respect and appreciate the individual employees good service enough to compensate them. I have little respect for any business that makes their employees pan handle from the customer.
Why do I say this??? Because if we put the average tips into a raise from the employer, the employee makes a decent wage all the time an it wouldn't matter if you ran into unappreciative customers, because you'd be covered for your hard work regardless. Call me an asshole, but I think 60 dollars for a meal for at Applebees should cover the cost of food and service. There sure as fuck isn't 60 dollars worth of groceries on the plates. Why not make the employer ensure that the service staff are paid everytime, instead of sometimes.

Don, your ideas do not make you an asshole. It is just common sense especially when the server has to pass on the service they get from the cooks who may have make errors in one way or another. Then, we as the customer takes it out on the server in the way of their tip.
One thing I have to mention is that when we get very good service from someone in a non tipping situation we always make sure to notify their boss of the employees above average work. Most recently was a local police officer that went above and beyond what we felt was his job responsibilities to help us out. I wrote to the police chief, local papers, local news, and the state to show what our local police force does and why they deserve their fair portion of any state money.

NP, I remember my parents always tipping the mail man when I was growing up, and they were dirt poor. I have never personally done it and kinda feel like a dope for not thinking of it. I do wonder if it's a location thing, as I grew up in Nebraska and our mail carrier walked the neighborhood, rain or shine or sleet and hail, he deserved the Christmas bonuses.
I've never heard of anyone in Utah doing such a thing. I'm calling my folks and asking if they still do it!
about pizza, I'm a cheapskate, I always pick it up myself
when out to dinner, it's always 10% no matter what, but if the service is great it goes up accordingly. Hubby will go through 5+ refills on soda at a meal, and if a server can keep up with the empty glass, he rewards heavily. Bring him two at a time and he ends up tipping like a rock star. If they don't notice or he has to beg for more drinks, I end up slipping extra cash on the table cuz I feel cheap if he doesn't leave what I consider enough, where he feels they didn't work for it. btw, if we're out with the kids the tip gets higher since they have to clean up more, lol

My mom is mail man lady and the only time she has ever gotten any money from people is around christmas as a gift.
As far as the pizza thing goes, my little brother was a pizza delivery person for dominoes for awhile, he said his tips were around 2-3 i believe. I usually tip according to service.
But it is a good idea to tip people well. Especially when thats their main source of income. My wife used to dance and work for tips. I know she and other dancers hated when people thought they just got a free show.

Lets clear things up here, pizza delivery guys(and girls) do make minimum wage($5.00+an hour). well us in the major restaurants still are at $2.13 dollars an hour and I am a Server and a Certified trainer..and I will tell you this, I never get a paycheck..it goes right to the government and I end up owing at the end of the year. and yes, I do have good nights, but I wish every table was good, after putting on my makeup, dressing in slacks and a tie, and serving a table of four, a 4 course dinner they left me a $5.00 tip.
I do have to agree that sometimes the kitchen messes up and I have had some emberassing nights trying to explain to my guest how everything went wrong, but I also know if you ask to talk to a Manager, most of them, will some how make it up to you. Its not your servers fault, they depend on your tips to pay there bills, take care of there familys, and everything that you do when you get your paychecks every week.
Sometimes you will get a really bad server. I am one of the worst people to take out to dinner because I will critique the server, as I am a server, I know the kind of service you should have.
Service is service, tip according to your server:
Below average..0-5%
Average...10%
Above average...15+%
Excellent...20+%
Those that leave a $1.95 tip on a $26 .05 tab, after being waited on for an hour, your a jackass..lol
Hopefully, you can be cool to the pizza guys too!

Having been a person who lived on tips...I always give 20% BUT if they are good...I will tip 100%...
As to Don's idea to pay the wait staff...Have you ever been anyplace that does include tips OR that adds them on automatic? The service SUCKS!!!! And that kills the business...
Go to South Beach (Miami) the tops are added automatically to everything...and the service is good until you get the order in, at that point the tip is set, and they stop serving you...Same in MANY (though not all) European restaurants...ONce the tip is in the til, they stop working...Just our experience...

I prefer tipping places to non-tipping places. Here you get to separate the men from the boys, so to speak. You want to earn more money? No problem. Make your service better. We go to TGIF and we always ask for our favorite waitress. We tip her well. Oh, what's that you say? You don't get good tips on the whole? Well maybe it is because your service sucks. If you are good, I tip more. If you suck, I tip a nickel just so you don't think I forgot your tip.
We generally tip the pizza delivery person as much as we do a server if we go out and have dinner. Generally 15%. Since its just the two of us and we usually spend around $25 the driver gets $5 for his time. Even if the place they work charges you a little more for delivery the driver doesnt get that money the greedy ass pizza place gets it. They usually have to supply thier own vehicle and fuel for said vehicle. They should get something for the wear and tear on it. After all they are also getting paid for being at work, and since minimum wage here in the state of Oregon is around $7.90 an hour id say they do pretty good. After all Oregon is a bit different than most places 7.90/Hr minimum wage, your NOT allowed to pump your own gas, No sales tax, and EVERY bottle is worth a nickle even if its plastic.
I usually spend about $20 and tip $2-$5.
In Key West most of the time it would be $4.00 to $5.00 for a normal order. At restaurants it would be 20% sometimes more or less depending on the service. If the service was poor and obviously caused by our server it would be less. We however have had a lot of times where orders were messed up, late, or not up to the quality we expected and if the server kept a smile on and did his or her best we
I usually tip at least the difference from delivered price and next $5 incriment up...if not enough will add to an average of $4 to $5.....is worth it to not have to go get it...
And Majestic....agreed, a world of difference in servers and delivery drivers....I have never stiffed a server, going usually 20% even for fair service....and have actually on smaller tabs, given a 100% tip, hoping to be remembered when I come back....*S*
i used to be a server at a restraunt and yes if the cooks made a mistake the customer would take it out on the server. but i always would do my best to please the customer that alot of times i would try to get the manager to comp a dessert or something depending on the situation. well if the customer was still not happy they would stiff me of the tip but what people don't realize that i had to tip 1.5% to bartender, 1.5% to bus boys, and then on busy nights we would have food runners and there went another 1 to 1.5% so if i got stiffed i actualy had to pay for them to come eat at the restraunt. so please if you have a problem with your food don't take it out on your server unless your server blows you off and doesn't care but if they do everything they can and your not satisfied ask for manager. the server can't comp anything with out the manager approval. now if your server is rude or gives you bad service then at least give the server 3 to 5% so this way it's not comming out of his pocket.
Have always tipped a minimum of 15% and good service goes up from there. Sometimes 20% doesn't seem fair ( like for one beer) so then we always do $2/ person.
Nice to see that we aren't to far off.

We try and tip about 10% They add a fee to bring it to us to cover gas. The only "service" they priovied is to bring it to us one time. Once with a couple at a motel the ladies were very horny so asked him if he wanted a a tip or a BJ he took the BJ! IT was fun to watch hiim choose which one to suck him off and fun to watch her go at it!

I also forgot to mention one thing, The tips I get as a server, 10%goes to bussers and bartenders, so 20% I have to pay out at the end of the night, alot of peeps dont know that.

Hi... i make it a rule to tip around 25% of the price for the pizza being delivered. Our usual order is around $30.00, and so our usual tip is $7.50
On a dare, I answered the door totally naked once when the pizza delivery boy showed up. It helped to be pretty drunk. His mouth was on the floor and I acted like nothing was out of the ordinary. Do you think that was a fair tip?

well at the restraunt i was at they didn't go by how much in tips you made to pay out to the bartender and the bus boys but they went by total sale of all of your food and drink items. so you have to tip out 5% of your food and drink sales at the end of the night. so it really hurts the server that way when you short change the tip. but believe me i have seen some bad servers who didn't deserve a tip but at least tip 5% so that way the bartender and the bus boys get there share and you leave the server with 0. i would say the average tip would be 15% and if the server went out of his way 20%.
Ok, so how do I figure 20% ? Open the door 3 times?

as once a pizza boy 20% is good. the way to figure out 20% is move decimal point over to the left one place and double it. example $10.00 would now be $1.00 then double would be $2.00 not bad but where the gas is so high for this example $3.00 is what it takes to cover the gas.
