I just want to let all of you know that some of our friends informed us that all of our pictures are out there for the world to see. Not just ours, all of yours too. Do a google search on yourself or anyone you know. You will find all kinds of pictures, one's that are on your profile now or long ago deleted. And most of the links lead right to the swingular site or myspace. As a lot of you know we cancelled our profile, but wow, I can still log on and all our info is still there for the world to see. So yes I have deleted or changed most of our info. Well good luck.
just did a search for our profile name and it's on like 10 different sites that we didn't sign up for.
here's a link as an example http://swingers.letsmeetup.com/profile.aspx?user=ripbecki
Does this mean swingular is selling our profiles to other sites or what? If not can we a expalantion or what's going on?

It's not just the agreement part. You type in your handle and most the links are to swingular. You can click on them and it opens up your profile. So yes anyone can see them, not just those on swingular.
This was brought up before, about 8 months to a yr ago....
Well, we were not aware that it came up before. So sorry. Anyway, this is irritating, but was just posting it to let everyone know. Thanks for those of you who were trying to help. And yes not everyone in this world is a computer geek, so thanks for asking. I was not trying to cause a pissing contest either. So anyway, Hope you all can take it with a grain of salt and get off your high horse.

I know...that sounds harsh, but it's the truth.
Fact is, Cross Marketing is a great way to make money for these sites.

And Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I guess am an e-hoe... my handle cums up on 2 pages... lol including flickr... Oh well the kids are going to find out one of these days... at least they don't have to wait till we die and find all our pics and videos...lmao
You can help yourself by "watermarking" your pics. Sites will be less likely to risk stealing watermarked photos under risk of them being actually copyrighted.
Or have them copyrighted and display that copyright on the photo (creative commons, or actual copyright).
Of course...good luck filing a suit, but taking some preventative measures helps.
That and some creative coding on your posts in the forum helps too. There's a simple way to make the posts not appear in search engines, but not your pics.

Do not keep simular nicknames and passwords for all the sites on the internet...
That's what happened to one of the companies, MediaDefender... they had to pay $880,000 out of pocket for fines and civil suits because one of the programmers kept the same user/pass to his yahoo mail and his work login. (and that's so far, they're still dealing with the damage.)
I generally keep two sites per nickname... usually, unrelated.
To keep it sane for me, I have an document that keeps track of which user/pass to which site... (the document is also password protected.) so far, it references to over 20 different sites.
Also, if they do google on your nick, it limits to who goes to what. Oh, one more thing - YOU control what info goes on the net. after all, it's whats typed in that goes in. It would be quite easy for me to have anyone searching for me to assume I'm an 13 year old girl that moved into US from canada... Computers are literal, they usually take entries at face value, hence the programming phrase "GIGO" (Garbage in, garbage out.)
