Okay, here's the deal. This is our first add and I'm not a great linguist.
Finding interesting and appealing stuff to say about ourselves does not come
easy to us.
As we read profiles we are always saying to each other "that sounds like us, but it's
better than what we've written.
Here's the question. Is it taboo to take bits and pieces of other profiles
and use them in yours, or does that make you fake, or does everybody do
it and just keeps their mouths shut about it.

Thats a good question and we have to admit that we've seen profiles and wished we had said the same thing! I guess for us we wouldn't take offense to it unless it was identical, word for word as ours but then again we don't have a copyright on it either. I think if you're unsure it would be a good idea to mail that person and ask if it's ok just out of common courtesy.
Just our thoughts on the subject :!

Borrow what you want, the polite thing to do is to tell the people you are borrowing and what a great profile they have...LOL
After 3 years we still find great material, if it fits we use it!! Feel free if our profile has anything you like, we consider it flattery! Frank and Diana

Call it what you want, profile block, profile cramp, whatever.....no matter how much you try, someone will come up with a better way of saying what you really wanted to say. Unless you are taking the profile, or large chunks of it as your own, we see no problem with taking a phrase or two and personalizing them for use in your own profile...and letting the source know you thought theirs was good enough to paraphrase (this or that) into yours. We've gone looking for better profiles to improve our's, not always borrowing from them so much as using the way they described something as a guide, writing in our own words about us.
As an aside, the nice thing about profiles is they're dynamic, changing/improving them every so often makes them more who you are and what you are looking for as your lifestyle comfort and discovery levels change. We'd all hate to find a perfect match, only to discover their profile inaccurate or outdated
Or they haven't been on since Aug 28th :@

We agree with them! LOL Adopting lines or phrases from someone's profile is cool. Just don't copy and paste the whole darn thing. But yes, we've adopted some of our lines from what others have said, such as not being "ken and barbie". We use that a lot in a many of our profiles. I think it's a good idea to read what others write in their profiles. Maybe consider writing down all the good lines you think fit you and combine them from that into your own words. But yes, adopting words from other's is ok! :h
If something in someones else's profile says exactly what you feel, we see no problem in borrowing it, as long as it's not word for word through the whole thing. It would be nice to write to the other people, and let them know that you enjoyed what they wrote, and that you've used their thoughts to apply to yourselves, too.
Please feel free to use anything we have in our profile. Next time you're in San Diego, you can give us a call, and thank us personally. LOL

We agree with the comments above. The entire point of writing the profile is to tell potential mated who you really are so as to allow them to make an educated decision. While it is true that a few of the actual words may be those of someone else, in total they are about YOU!
Don't copy word for word, but definitely use what you find in other profiles as the basis for your own ideas and cultivate them.
