Wow 2 week old topic suddenly appears on top. Hmm. Anyway, the site's owner started it in Utah, then moved to FL and back or visa versa (who really cares, it's here, LOL!). It stands to reason that the "presence" would be larger in these areas. Hope that shed some light.

I found out about this site word of mouth, so really, anywhere you put swingers in a room talking they are gonna do some word of mouth advertising, I have even done my own since joining. If I knew any other real swingers I would tell them too!

Chris and Lara,
I wish that I knew what to tell you! I've been feeling the same thing! It must be great in Utah... Houston is dry as a bone (not THAT kind) on this site. I love reading the posts of other people, but I can't help but wish that they were somewhere closer. Even the Houston area groups are dead.
Best of luck to you! And if you find some really nice Houston area off-site places, send me a message here!
Understanding your frustration,
Seth

We've wondered the same thing as well.... so much that we're planning a trip to Utah soon.
I would suggest dropping some fliers, brochures or whatnot at any swinging event... or the easiest and the most effective, word of mouth.
The popularity of most websites happened from the word of mouth. Thats the major nature of the internet... There's way too many sites and webpages that lately - I've become dependant on the word of mouth for the real good stuff.
That's why I get real annoyed when someone suggests some sites to check out, some squawkers make some noise about "it probably could be SPAM."
-----
I do have another theory - In my past when I did raving, Each state seemed to have their own rave websites, each to their own local flavor. I think it caters to the close distance it has to other people and it makes it seem more real and alive.
Local state websites offers a form of "security." from spammers and fakes that seems to clog the national sites like yahoo.
(I refer to yahoo chat of yesteryear. I dont think their chatrooms exists anymore.)
Did you ask around with the couples you do know and see if there is an local website for texas?

Whether you are "annoyed" by it or not, it's true. If you allow one person to post unsolicited advertisements without permission from the site owner, you have to allow all of them. So, unless you're prepared to come to a site ridden with plugs for all manner of shit, I suggest you accept the inconvenience of not being able to use this venue as an means to advertise your service/product/paid event. Call me a "squawker" if it makes you feel better. I know you'd be singing a different tune if their were ads cluttering the site. I don't need to get to that point, to get the point. Use common sense and you won't either.

Good point... I still wonder about the utah dominated presence on swingular... Pretty soon, in about a year or two, There's a good chance we're going to move out of state and I want to help improve this site's dominance - or - at least find same number of couples as there is here...
Which makes me wonder, when TG moves, what do they do? I'd like to know just in case we do move.

I apologize if that was abrasive, you guys are definetly cool in my book and I don't doubt your good intention. I would just hate this site to become a big advertisment junkyard, like so many other sites do.
As far as pushing this site in other states, word-of-mouth works wonders. You can also open your own website locally and link to swingular. Get in with the local scene and show them the benefit of using the service to connect with others and it'll happen.
I think the issue with this site lies with the "one time fee" membership. It's good for us, but bad for business and expansion of the site. Hell, if you charged the current user base, lets say conservatively 2000 peeps, $10 a quarter, that's $40 per year, that's $80,000 a year total, which half of that could definetly pay someone to upgrade and monitor the site full-time. That's only $3.33 dollars per month for us. Now, you tell me, would you be willing to pay $5 dollars a month for a full-time staffed site with promising new features? I sure as hell would. Sorry I got off topic with that.

Having it cheap sounds good but I can definitely see some horny idiots willing to buck up five bucks to try to get some cheap porn. if only they can think the whole thing through.
