Blues is for wussies! LOL. Don knows I like the blues. Although, I don't think there are many that are as passionate and crazy about the blues as Tequila. It shows in his kids too. His daughter has some pipes!!

I like old Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Ry Cooder, and current artist like Stevie Ray, Robben Ford, and Gary Moore.

Love the blues, bo diddley, lighting hopkins, Etta James, muddy waters, howling wolf, just to name a few, the newer bands that show the blues influence are great but to me nothing beats that old delta blues

Perhaps boogie piano is more your taste. I love this shit too. This guy is a fuckin god at boogie. Does anyone know who Eugene Carrier is? He played with B.B. King back in the early 80's when he did a show live at Austin City Limits. I know this guy isn't him. I was just curious if anyone else has heard of him.

Don Carol composed a really good one called CQ boogie. I also like Pinetop Perkins and some of the other old shit. I also like Blue Note Boogie on the movie "The Majestic" with Jim Carey. I especially like the clarinet solo in that one.

I would like to mention that Steve Vai played both parts. He is an outstanding guitarist.

Jonny Lang is a good blues guitartist. I like the song "Rack 'em Up" and "Match Box". The latter was written by Ike Turner. Anyway, this one is more for the ladies and not really traditional blues, but blue none-the-less.

I can say we like the blues along with a lot of other music but my brother loves the blues and played in a small local band back home. My neice is in her third year of college on a music scholarship at a major university and plays several instruments but loves the piano and dubs herself a blues and jazz band geek. She is playing this summer on a major cruise line. The nice thing is the love for this music is not dead in the younger crowd becaue all of her friends share the love for the same music. It is always entertaining to see her friends over the house and watch my brother jump in and jam with them.

Love the Blues, Been listening and playing them for years...Stevie is always a fav with his Texas Blues love BB I have seen him twice in concert, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Guy Davis,Big John Dickerson, Buddy Guy and his Brother, Have seen them at Buddy's place in Chicago.Yes and Eric Clapton, and way to many unknowns to mention. Nothing better. The Blues is truely an American orignal.

Yes, i have been reading what some of you are saying, that claim to be real blues fans. Although rye coutier and steve vye are o.k., but to a real blues fan they're rock n roll artist. I see all the videoes of so called blues players, get real people. If you want to be a blues fan you need to get some Muddy Waters, Fred Mcdowel, or Easy Malone. Those are blue artists. You really should explore the musical jandra before you post some bullshit, i love the blues. Of course everyone has their right to their own opinion, right, wrong or indifferent. But, if you are going to be a blues fan, then be a blues fan. Not rockabilly, not 1950 Chuck Berry and or Little Richard. The Average White Band has got better blues than the videos that you have posted in your threads. And iffin you really want to go hang with some blues, I will be more than happy to take you to New Orleans, for a weekend or so, and show you what the blues are all about. You all have a good day.

btw, I am one of a small percentage of people who can say they've seen Dwayne Allman live.
And he was absolutely fantastic.

M&S, the guy is good. Though he's more rock and blues rock than Delta. I prefer the Delta sound. I will not deny he has talent though.

If you like the blues, you will love the Telluride Blues & Brews festival every year in the middle of September. It is is Telluride, Colorado, (about 2 hrs out of moab). It is AWESOME!!! I've been going for 6 years in a row. They start at noon on Friday and goes to Sunday night at ten pm. During the day they have a bunch of vendors, foods, & activities for kids & stuff. Never seen one fight! Then Saturday from noon to 3pm, there is 50 breweries. It is FREE beer until 3pm. Then the bands play in the local clubs at night. It's amazing!! I've seen James Brown, ratdog, black crows, John Mayor, just to name a few.
Anyway, I think everyone should try it! I didn't even know I liked blues until then.

Saturday, July 7th would have been Willie Dixon's 92nd Birthday. There's a celebration at Willie Dixon' Blues Garden (2120 S. Michigan; Chicago, IL), formerly call Chess Records. The Blues Garden ( www.bluesheaven.com ) is a little Jewel in the neighborhood.
