Moderacy. Americans are so black or white, fat or annorexic, left or right, gay or straight, etc, that we loose who we are. We are so busy trying to impose our personal preferences, beliefs, morals, dogma etc, on everyone else, that we are slowly squeezing out democracy.

We'll have totally honest leaders, when we ourselves can be totally honest. They are human and as such, they are blessed and afflicted by the same traits we are. We seem to think that anyone on the magic talking picture box, must themselves, be magic and capable of superhuman power. If it wasn't the case, then why do we have paparazzi and seek to defame celebrities? Why do we give a fuck that Paris Hilton went to jail? She's just a capable of a fuckin crime as the rest of us.

In our heart and soul as a country we want leaders who will give us what we want, not necessarily what is good for us or our country. Crooked leaders promise us the moon and don't get us off the ground, but we vote for them anyway. Bush is a fairly honest president who tried to do something right. When it started to go wrong, lots of folks turned on him. The democrats tried to destroy him, mostly for revenge for Clinton. Nothing I see on the horizon will change that unless it is an atomic bomb on LA or SF or NYC from Osama's crowd. Them maybe we will do what is best for all.
I have to agree with Rose on this one. We ll have done things that we aren't proud of. Everyone is only human, but to find a politician that is honest and not out to line his or her pocket is rare. Use to be you voted for the person who best quailified to do the job. Now we vote for the lesser of two evils. Is my opinion. Mr Sexstarved
Honest political leaders. That is an oxymoron, right? I couldn't even type it without laughing. Heck, big business owns the Republicans, the unions own the Democrats and none of them give a F*** about you and me.
Honest politician...
No such thing, that aminal doesnt exist, it really never has.
They spew the same crap, but they coat it differently.
I havent voted since 1980 when I voted Regan into office.
I felt at the time it was my first chance to vote, and he would
be better than Mr Peanut Jimmy Carter.
If you want to vote for someone, do it for their accomplishments.
It doesnt make them honest, but it may make them the best liars...

Valance only good to stand on their heads if they are in 7' of water!!!!!
An honest political leader? I think this state had ONE about 35 years ago. Nationaly I don't think there's been one in the last 100 years.
Jimmy Carter is a good man,he way to honest to be in politics.
There are currently no honest political types anywhere to be had. So as long as money/big business is backing politics and getting who they want on both sides we will get what we allow.
Thomas Jefferson said :
"I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not to enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them but to inform their discretion"
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them"
"My reading of history convinces me that the most bad government results from too much government"
"Rightful liberty is un obstructed action according to our own will within limits drawn around us by equal rights of others. I do not add, within the limits of the law, because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual"
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not"
I think every American should be taught about the person who wrote the Constitution and his views on and of government. He had some poigent thoughts about business and commerace as to the facts that they are friends of no country and no government but to the almighty dollar. As I said business has corupted government and until the people realize that they should be the only reason for government we will continue to get averest and greed and dishonest government. Jefferson had many thought about that as well. The computer makes it quite easy to find this info and should bring it to the attention of all politicians....

Government has to be made smaller and laws which inhibit individual freedom or that allow interference with other countries or governments of those or any countries must be repealed... Congress needs to understand that government is not to inhibit but to allow free thought and free interchange and that peace should be one of the only interests of government. The people also have responsibilities. To defend this country and the society that we are but not try to impose our will on any one internal or external to this country...
Probably will take some bloody noses for this but I do understand what and why this country and this republic were formed and we aren't doing it any more...
Nuff for now
