JUST WANTED YOU GUYS TO KNOW THAT WE HAD A PARTY THIS PAST WEEKEND, HOWEVER, SOMEONE HAD TIPPED OFF OUR LANDLORD, OUR NEIGHBORS BY SENDING A LETTER IN THE MAIL ABOUT IT. WE DONT APPRECIATE THIS AT ALL, AND JUST WANTED TO BRING EVERYONE'S ATTENTION TO IT. THERE IS A MOLE OUT THERE, IF ANYONE HEARS ANYTHING PLEASE LET US KNOW. THANKS.

PS-WHOEVER IT IS I WISH THEY HAD THE BALLS TO SAY IT TO OUR FACE, BUT WHY WOULD THEY ADMIT TO IT, THEY ARE JUST PUSSIES! GOD HELP THEM IF WE DO FIND OUT.
We host house partys alot and have even rented banquet rooms in the local hotels for partys.Haveing someone findout whats going on can be nerve racking and make you mad to say the least, but what can you do about it?...really nothing. If one guy doesnt tell, it will be the next.Just a chance your takeing.Im sorry though it happened that way...id just die if my landlord knew what we did with his property sometimes lol.
Just goes to show you really cant trust anyone now days to keep their mouths shut.
who cares what the landlord knows,it is not a lease breaking deal.you just have to hope he/she renews.just because you are rewnting does not mean you can't have a party.if the landlord is upset and decides to try to kick you out sue them as you are doing nothing wrong
People that can't mind their own business should die in a fire. Snitches, informants, and "the gossipy types" all fit into the catagory I'm speaking of.
they didnt just send a letter to our landlord, they sent one to ALL the neighbors in our neighborhood. so I could deal with my landlord, its the neighbors, feeling VERY violated. And also the police department was notified 3 days before the party.
Such under the table stuff is a pain be it somebody messing with someone having a party at home or between clubs.

However I would assume you were not asking for donations at the door, having guests using illegal drugs, all guests were of age? All that being true I'm not sure how what you had planned was anything more than a Superbowl Party or any other gathering of people. Even here in Florida the days of the "Blue Laws" are for the most part gone when it comes to your home (heck even the top court in the land has ruled anal sex in the privacy of your home is protected - you have to love our founding fathers!) The people we lived next door to in Melbourne had a lot of church meetings with a lot of "Praise the Lord." I did not complain about their meetings and they never said a word about all the "Oh God Oh God I'm Cumming!" drifting from our home when we had a party ;-)

However having the "right" to do something can still be a hard path to take if the people that live next door are having a protest march in front of your place on the night of the party! Good luck finding the mole and hope your next party turns out better.
I do not mean to be offensive but pardon me for playing devils advocate but OHOHBIGBIG what were you thinking?? having a party in an apartment complex or a rented home in a tightly built area like yours? NOT A GOOD IDEA!! Especially in Orlando area. Most apartment complexes have thin walls between the units and most newer homes in the area are on smaller than what I would tolerate lots (I know this because in order to put myself and my brothers through college I worked construction) plus both will most likely have children and the last thing the swinging community needs is to be branded a bunch of child molesting perverts. Did you think for even a second what would have happened if little Johhny's parents or a neighbor called the cops because of the noise and the commotion that would have been made at your party or at what little Johhny may have seen? Orlando's police chief have stated publicly and repeatedly that lifestyle parties will be held to very high scrutiny. I would be very surprised if you aren't asked to move very soon.

Look I am all for parties and having a ton of fun but I am also for doing it responsibly. here are my tips:

1. Have your party in a private house thats a little out of the way with a minimum of children in the area.
2. Never allow drugs on the premisis or money to change hands.
3. Make sure that you can keep the noise level down.

Again I do not mean to offend but people need to think and plan very carefully when having a lifestyle party.

The Cheif of Police can do NOTHING about lifestyle parties...

The landlord can do NOTHING about lifestyle parties...

The neighbors can do NOTHING about lifestyle parties...

If you are not breaking any laws (noise, public nudity, etc) then there is NOTHING any of these people can do...

YES, they can threaten, I tend to smile at them and say, "Well, you have a good time with that, I am glad you like to waste MY money as I am a tax payer"

It is NOT illegal to have a party....Whether lifestyle related or not...

Play the Devil's advocate all you want...

I would suggest that you look at your lease, does it say anything about lifestyle parties? parties in general? Then you are fine.

If you rent the house, not a biggie, move...Do you really want to be around closed minded people on a daily basis? I would not...
With all due respect you are obviously misinformed. In the great state of Florida a lanlord can begin eviction notices for violations of the lease both literal (actual documented) and implied. An example would be when my uncle asked his tenant to move after he found out the man was gay (ok I had a huge argument with him about this) my uncle's stance was that as a landlord he had the right to remove those he found who were living a lifestyle that was against his beliefs. the courts backed him up.

As far as the police go thats an interesting matter in and of itself. they may not be able to arrest you out right but they can watch you and those you associate with very closely. They also can give out parking tickets and under what they might consider "emergency" circumstances they can enter your home and run the names of all of your guests. Got kids? you might not be arrested but FDCF will get a call. Oh and Sovereign Immunity would prevent you from going after them in civil court.

I know that these might sound impossible to occur but I have read countless stories of people being harrassed simply because they chose to piss someone off instead of being discrete.

"No Parties" would have to be mentioned in the lease. Your comments regarding police are another misuderstanding. They can give you tickets if the parking violates city ordinates. Everything the police does has to hold up in court. They can not do anything about you children if the are not present during said party. Minors should not be at any party, let alone a swinger party anyway. I think if executed properly, any party can work. Police have no jurisdiction inside your house if you do not violate city ordinances. PERIOD. As long as you watch the noise, disallow minors, govern keys, you are good. Controlling drunks is where most people have issues. Cutting people off that step overboard is the key as the host. Good security at the party helps. Controlling capacity is another problem as you can break the fire code. If you plan to have a huge one, lease a bigger venue. Regarding the neighbors, they can't stop you if you are within the law. Fuck em.

having been a landlord in the past in the great state of florida,if you want to evict someone it is usually about a three month process with this hearing and that hearing this notice and that notice.oh and you better make sure every thing is correct in court papers or start all over.as far as the police coming into your home because they suspect an emergency that to is a lot of hogwash.they would have to think there is a felony in progress and be able to prove their suspicion, other wise i welcome any law enforcment agency in florida to enter my home and i will be rich.it is called civil rights and yes you are partly correct about suing but you can sue it's just florida has a 100,000 dollar liability limit.but if the jury awards more it then goes to the state legislature to see if they will pay.there is two cases that just recently got millions awarded by them.i could go on but whats the use.party on
Phil
FDCF can and will get into your business. do not doubt that for a minute. any reports forwarded to them by the police are followed up on as a matter of law (see chapter 39 of the florida statutes). All I am saying is that all it takes is for one neighbor to get pissed off enough that with one call they can put you into a world of heartache.
Yes....DCF can cause a world of heartache...BUT they also drop shit when they know it is just that, bullshit...

as to your uncle...I really doubt a court has upheld his eviction based on homosexuality...he had another reason...AND...If your uncle is that anti-gay, perhaps he needs to check himself out...seems to me he is gay and does not like it that he would waste all that money to go to court to evict someone who is paying rent, especially when there are those who dont...

I am not a lawyer, but I know how the system works...I work in the system....As to law...Law is only as good as theaper it is written on...Did you know it is illegal to have a mustache in Boston without a permit from the mayor? How many tickets have been issued for that? Yes...they can give parking tickets....HOWEVER, as TR said, you have to brak law for this to happen.....

Orlando is no different than any other town...the police have no special powers, the landlord has no special powers....It is the same as anywhere else in this country....

PARTY ON MAN!!!!!

FDCF can't do shit if children are not there. That is common sense. When you wanna party, send your kids to the sitter. The FDCF has to have reasons and proof. The justice system still applies. They have to hold hearings and prove that children are in harms way. They can be sued just like any other governmental agency. If they violate your civil rights, you can sue the shit out of them. If they step in without just cause, you can sue. The neighbor can be sued for defamation if you can prove they were lying as well.

Don, I agree with you...

Bt being a Floridian, IF someone calls DCF, they MUST do a visit to the home, wether they think it is an unwarranted call or not...Just the way it is here due to the DCF losing and allowing children to stay in unfit homes AFTER being called numerous times....

It is a fucked up place in a lot of ways...We are ranked 50 for education....YIPPEEEE....FLorida IS the stereotypical southern state...IGNORANCE IS BLISS...WHere else do you have PIGS...YES...PIGS in the state's constitution? FLORIDA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway...

Party On People...FUCK THEM ALL BUT ONE...YOU NEED SOMEONE TO STRIKE THE MATCH...BUT I HOPE THAT PRICK LIGHTS HIS SHIRT ON FIRE WHILE DOING IT!!!!!!

Calling child protective services and them taking your kids are two seperate issues. They still have to have reason to take the kids. So if your neighbors call and they come out, you have nothing to worry about as you were acting within the law.

Not living in FL or in UT I may be at a slight disadvantage. Here in the "Great" state of NC ( as the old Junk Yard Dog called it North Cak a lak a) and I've heard that FL is as bad, that Child welfare or Family services or whatever else your state calls it.. by in NC it doesn't matter if the children are present. If parents are found to live in a lifestyle that is not "Normal" by community standards... children can be taken away from the parents and placed in foster care. Now this does seem to break the law re: your civil rights but is is done to "protect the children". In this state living, even, a poly lifestyle with 3 or more parents is open to child welfare. So while you are not breaking any laws....... CHild welfare may take the position that you are unfit to raise children and if they do.... you will, not may, have trouble getting your children back, if at all. So do beware of who knows what and how you invite and control parties.

Based on what you say about Orlando's Chief of Police, he could cause you, and your guests, more grief than you know. Wish I were in FL so as to facilitate finding out from child protective services or whatever they call it there... under what circumstances can children be taken from their parents. ... As far as leases.... The landlord has the right to do nothing about the parties unless it violates the lease.. i.e., loud.... bothering other tennants, congregating outside in public areas... etc.. However, that landlord may decide NOT to renew a lease by giving notice, since most standard leases are month to month after the initial peeriod of the lease and the landlord must give written notice of intent not to renew and when you must vacate... In some states that means that the iviction laws take over and typically that means 90 days...

So before one starts to have house parties, if they or their guests have kids, make sure that it is strictly on the QT. If aranging a party via this venue... do it via email to those you trust... That way it is not common knowledge....

THIMK

I say next time invite the landlord and neighbors. LOL....never know get more couples involved might make your party more fun. In my experience most parties are just that, with the exception that ours are more "adult" oriented. Just my thought, who knows they might be "closet" lifestylers and you wouldn't know till you invited them.
Just an FYI note. in florida the average is two years from the moment DCF comes into your life before they get out of it. A good site to check out is Justice for families dot com. there you will find all kinds of information.
