I'm sure as most of you have seen, the forums have become a place of flaming and hatred. This is starting to affect Swingular as a whole from members leaving to new members not wanting to join because of it. We've always felt that the forums were an open space for our members to express themselves and their opinions and we would never censor or ban anyone from doing so.
However, when it gets to the point that it is no longer opinion but becomes a battle with members flaming or degrading each other, that's where we have to step in. We will still keep to our original principles in that we will not censor or ban any posts. However, we are creating a few simple rules to help regulate the content posted.
FORUM POLICY:
1. If you can't seperate the messenger from the message, you don't belong here.
2. If you can't debate a point and you have to turn it into an argument, you don't belong here.
3. If you can't seperate attacks on the subject from attacks on you, you don't belong here.
4. If you can't defend your opinion without resorting to name calling and personal insults, you don't belong here.
5. Anyone posting attacks, insults, or threats against another member will not be tolerated.
6. Posts in a particular forum need to stay on topic.
Any member found in violation of this new policy will be warned once. After that, their account will be deleted without refund.
Now, we're not trying to make this a forum that's devoid of all humor & fun. So a final point:
If you're so sensitive that you can't take a little ribbing from others, you shouldn't post. There's a difference between flaming (abusive, mean-spirited comments) and good natured smack talk.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but there are ways to express them without offending others. We hope these basic guidelines keeps things civil but also allows anyone to speak freely. This is a place for adults, not children and I hope you all can represent yourselves this way.

Very good move. Most popular public forums on the web have moderators that keep it above the belt. I am a "levels of force" kinda person. I usually keep it in the "smack talk" region until someone pulls out the big guns and says something that totally insults me, my service to the country, my way of life etc. Then I think it's fair to defend myself. I was never one to tolerate bullies
Forum moderation is a good think as long as you are not dinged on everything you say. If done in moderation itself, I think it's key in a happy community. After all, not all of us will agree all of the time. Any good community has a police system in place.
Some of us do not hold themselves to a moral believe system (dogma). What it "proper etiquette" to some, may not be to others. We are a culturally & sexually diverse, multi-faceted, large gamut of unique individuals. Each of us even differ from our spouses/significant others (if that applies). Can you you say you never argue with your spouse? Can you say you have never said anything brash to anyone? Were you apologetic to those you did not like? I think most reasonable individuals would say yes to most of those and no to the last one. What is more likely, is that they chose to avoid contact with that person.
Everyone here has a choice to involve themselves in the conversations that happen here. For instance, if you were to post in a "GAY MARRIAGE" thread and post your opinion as to why an adult of clear mind and total consent, should not be allowed to enter into legal marriage with another adult of any sex, they so chose because of your own personal moral system. You are then adamant about holding to you view no matter how many time you are told that there is a seperation of church and state and that the "sanctity of marriage, between a man and a woman" is that of religious code and does not apply to the legal system, as it is unconstitutional. Yet you still wish to force your law on the rest of society because your upbringing told you that homosexuality is wrong and that marriage is not meant for gays. If this applies to you, then you are not reasonable and the only way I wish to deal with unreasonable people is to tell them to fuck off. I am saying you don't have the right to avoid homosexual marriage for youself? NO! I am saying you don't have the right to choose for others.
I guess what I am saying is that many of you don't want to hear anyone say anything that differs from your own little world, yet you are swingers. Many of you think one -way and don't want to hear something that turns your belief system on it's head. If you can not respect or tolerate diversity I have no respect for you. I will not respect your beliefs, rights or opinions if you will not afford everyone else the same. YOU REAP WHAT YOU SEW.

I believe any subject is "relevant to swinging". I think a persons interests says a lot about them, as you suggested. I think diversity will continue to happen, no matter how much people try and make others conform to their idea of the world. Fear of the unknown and ignorance to others' cultures drives many to commit social segregation and injustices to those that differ. Some people here need to do some inner reflection or self evaluation. I know I do. LOL!

Let me be the first to say how sorry I am that one thread that has now vanished! Got WAY out of hand and some of it was MY fault....I never intended for it to go that far. I Agree it was a good move. I especially like the part where banter is allowed. I think some people have thin skins here. I think in addition to the rules some people should avoid topics they do not like. Since there is a freedom of speech and expression on this site, some should try not to prevent others from writing about what they want to. Instead they should be more converned with themselves. Since English is comprised of a primary mixture of German, Greek, French and Latin, the match up is pretty good. Verb and noun placement are the key in most translations. German has Masculine, Feminine and Neuter like Spanish. Japanese is a scarey one, let's not go there hehehe.

I wasn't trying to <i>"impress"</i> anyone. I was only having fun with my friend. Which is why I posted the babelfish link. My best friend speaks fluent German and is currently teaching English in Japan.
It is surprising what one understands when given the verbs and nouns in a sentence. If I say to you,<font color="#4e6dab"> "HELP ME GO HOSPITAL."</font> The only retard would be the person that didn't understand what was being asked. Language is meant to communicate thought to others. If you effectively convey what you mean... the rest is just formality, <i>icing</i> if you will.
I also know that 4 semesters of a language in college is equivalent of a grade/middle school level native speaker. Limited in vocabulary, but effective enough to survive. I commend you on the undertaking. Do you still use it? I know to retain it, you have to keep using it.
I plan to learn spanish. It seems, anymore, that it is a necessity. I also like the sound of it. Any language that requires one to roll their tongue is intriguing. I would also like to learn Greek, Latin and Gaelic, but I am not that dedicated to language. LOL.

What's funny is that Castellain Spanish, which is what most schools teach, isn't spoken in the states... Mexican's think it sounds silly when white boys go to Mexico and speak it. While most can understand it, their dialect is so full of it's own slang and euphemisms, that it's still presents a barrier and loyalty to academia is lost in dialect. I think I'll do the Rosetta Stone thing to get the basics and talk to my Mexican friends to learn what's used here for the meat and potatoes of it. LOL. It's cheaper and closer to the language spoke in these parts. Although... A trip to Spain would be cool.

I am big enough to admit when I mess up, and it was partly my falut Rob and Admin had to step in, just to bad others cant step up and admit there part into it, but hey that shows me they arent worth it..I had a hand in there as well as several ppl...Not talking about you Don, just others and they know whom I mean!
Yes I do have a postive side as do we all, just a matter of whos big enough to show it!
