I think you are totally over reacting. You have the power to secure your images. What's the big deal man? Just because you didn't read the small print, doesn't mean you can't fix the situation.

Oh and swingular has been in business for over 5+ years and they haven't folded yet due to this matter. Why? Because it is easy for one to put their photos in a private album. Just as simple as a "few lines of code".

It sound like you should move to those "better" sites then. I worked in marketing for almost 5 years and I see this site's approach as a good one. Just because it does not fit <i>your</i> idea of privacy, doesn't mean that it isn't secure. You were told how to gain the best security.

If you are so good at business, then you should know that reading the fine print is a good practice. Never assume anything. I wish you luck in the new and better sites. I will stay here and continue to be successful meeting tons of couples all around here. There are parties all over Utah man. I don't think I'll suffer staying with a site that's already proven itself. Look us up if you ever make it this way and we can show you where all the good parties are. There are some great couples here.

Mr. Hunt...

Hate to see you go...Mrs. Hunt is one of the bright spots of my day...Sorry guy...Not into dudes!!!

BUT the reality is that 2 things are going on here:

1.) you get what you pay for. When you got a $20 for life membership, did you expect to get all the bells and whistles? Did you expect encrypted everything? Did you expect that everything you said or did in here was safe? Personally, I did not. but I am one who does not care about somone knowing what I do on the weekends.

2.) Do you think that your friends, family, co-workers do not know what you do on your weekends? Come on...I am sure you display all the characteristics of other swingers. You have friends who come to visit wearing alluring clothing. You go to clubs, yet no one outside of the swinging community sees you in the clubs. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS AS AN ATTACK ON MRS HUNT...but who typically gets breast augmentations, ESPECIALLY when they are the vision of perfection? AGAIN...Do not take that as an attack on Mrs. Hunt...thought she was a goddess without change...but she has her reasons...so I support her decision...

Do I think you are over-reacting? I do indeed. but that is your decision. Hate to see you go, but if you feel you must, then you must.
I'm not going to answer the poll because I find it rather strange to expect any modicum of privacy when one is on the internet.

If you had my IRL name, you could use google and find a wealth of information about me. You'd find pictures as well. If you had my online screen names, you could google up every single thing I have ever written on the net.

There is no privacy when you are online. It's an illusion. Given enough time and the right google queries, you can find some very obscure information on just about anyone.

If you are concerned about privacy, don't put pictures of your face on your profile. Don't post them in the forums.

I'm very active in two major non-profits. For that reason, you will never see my face on here.

I suppose I'm not understanding the fuss when it should be plain as day that the internet is not a place to be hanging out if you expect what you do online to remain private. For hell's sake, just look how neighborhood gossip mills are- no privacy there. The net is just a far bigger neighborhood and anyone with a connection can log on and find most anything about you.

So for me, there are two choices, suck it up and be as careful about protecting your identity as you feel you need to be or log off and cancel your internet. You (general you) cannot expect others to be diligent about protecting you. That's not their job. It's yours.
WELL SAID!!!!!

I goggle my rln oh about every 3 months or so just to see what comes up and whom I have the pleasure shareing my name with as its not a common name. I did my wifes maiden name this am and came across our wedding invite that was put into a news letter from our old shire. (Shire being called that in the medevil times as a village). I have always known nothing on the web was private, I just didnt stop to think that Swinglur site was private from the outside, now that I do. We have taken nessary actions to ensure we are safe.

I wont take the poll either as it is just useless and if you didnt know all this info before then you didnt read the WHOLE statement word for word like me and oh probley half of everyone in here..Besides no site is complete safe as the hackers are able to get whatever info on you they can get. We dont shop online due to this fact and we never will. Date Line NBC had a really good show on tv last night. Think your safe, go to www.nbc.com and look up to catch a internet theif.

Peace
~D~
Ok, I'm going to skip most of the poll and get to the meat of what I have to say on this topic. When we signed up primary pics, profiles and forum posts were not available on the login page to the best of our knowledge. If they had been we probably never would have become paying members, posted pics or contributed to the forums.

I would expect a swinger site to behave in the same manner towards the privacy of its members as a swinger club would. You don't see signs hanging outside swinger clubs with your pics, stats and preferences on them telling people to come in if they want to meet you, do you? Same rules apply here, or should. This site is the equivalent of renting a ballroom at a hotel for a swinger event and leaving the doors wide open for any passerby to see.

What's funny is that the privacy statement was last updated in 2003 and you were not a member until 2004. So, it appears you were another person that failed to read the fine print. I find your analogy to be flawed for this very reason. It all depends on the agreement you have with the proprietor of the ballroom. Whether an of you believe it or not, the biggest weapon you have to protect your privacy on the internet is you. Your habits are what keep you secure. You CIDDNSG, like the rest of us, have the power to fix this issue.

I would also like to ask a question to all of you. If we were to take all interaction from the site, away from guest members, what would attract them to upgrade? What would make you spend money on Swingular? Be honest! Seriously, would you spend money on a website, with no pictures of members, no way to see anything they've written, or any other means to see what's inside? COME ON! If have you spent your money on any such site as that, I have a car I wanna sell ya.

My point is that many of you paid a flat rate to join (CIDDNSG & HUNT4U88), and you are referring to yourselves as "paying members". You are not "paying members", and therefore not a liberty to make demands as such. I see this more of an "as is" purchase. I took the time to size up the buy and I think I am getting a great deal. So I gotta put my pics in a private album to keep them safe... BIG FUCKIN DEAL! You people that have been members for over two years on less than $100 kill me. Just what in the hell do you expect for your money. You were told in the privacy statement how to gain "full" privacy and you are bitching that the site doesn't hurt it's business to give it to you. I think you are wrong and I see nothing valid in your argument. You have the power to fix the issue. If you want to <b>demand</b> change from swingular, <b>pay a monthly fee.</b> Make-up the difference when they close their doors on marketing.

Hunt,

I'm pretty sure if you go to settings and click hide profile on login page it will remove your face from all the forums on google. Then the only thing you'll have to be concerned with is what you attach to a message in the forum.

See if it works.

I have read the privacy act again to ensure I knew what I had agreed too. Nothing has changed. I know what is visible on this site and what isn
This not the only site on which this situation exists. We are on 3 different swinger sites, and a google search pulls them all up. One showed our profile and main pic. As much as I dislike it, I just changed the main pic. I think it comes with the territory. At least on this site, you can disable personal web page and your pic won't show to the public.
Mrs. Hunt,

I hope you can find a way to deal with this site, because I for one have been entertained for a long while by many of your posts. I'm sure it was quite a shock to find out your posts were being seen all over the world, but even with this knowledge(even if unforgivable in your mind)you can make the best of a pretty damn good deal.

I paid $20 for a lifetime membership and received my second lifetime for free, because swingular had a huge outage some time ago. Adapting to this sites policies can't be that difficult, can it?

Hunt has a way to deal with it. He just wants to bitch about something he can fix. The forums have always been open to the public. The fact that he is saying nothing is safe on the site is proof that he is being ridiculously melodramatic. Hey Hunt, show me a private profile on google and I will jump on the "Nothing is Safe" train. Until then, you should refrain from using disinformation as a tactic to gain support for you stance.

The facts are as such... This site provides you with a means to keep your images safe. It makes no claims that it's forums are private. In fact it shows on it's front page the opposite.
Hunt and those that share is misguided view are under the impression that they we some how lured into joining the site under a false sense of security. I am not buying it. Everthing is written in plain English and the forums are right their on the frontpage. If you want something more secure than what this site offers, then maybe you should go elsewhere. Just stop trying to convince others that this site is lying to people. You need to convince yourself to read the small print.<br>

Did you know your profile picture was allowed to be seen in a google search by the non member public?

NO, Do we care, NO. We realize that its the Net, If anyone wants to find anything about anyone they will be able to if its out there somewhere. No matter how secure any site claims to be there are always ways. And if anyone is looking for us, that must mean they are into it.. So we will want to meet them anyway.

Did you read the privacy statement? No, Its the net there is no privacy

Did you think the info was for just inside the swingular community? No, See above statement

Did you know that any forum posts were published on the login page for everyone to read / view pics without signing up for the site?No but always assume the worst on the net and hope for the best. Same as all other answers

Did you know that any forum posts / pics were available to anyone who searched you handle? Same as above

Did you view the tutorial showing the security features of this site? No

Many thanks, Mr Hunt

I understand your concerns and if we were in a similar situation we would be upset as well. But It would take a lot to make us leave. There is no site out there that has as many "real" locals as swingular. No matter how secure other sites are we would still come back here if we wanted to meet locals in our state. When we travel we rely on SDC and SLS and LL and Cafe Desire. It seems all areas have their local crowd.

Good luck and it would be sad to see you guys leave :(
I agree...it would be sad!
