Previous Post Next Post
We are curious what your favorite bands are or what kind of music do you listen to :)

I have been a Metallica fan for many years- and I also love Linkin Park, Godsmack, Korn- mostly heavy stuff but I do listen to all other types of music-even classical.

Kelli loves the "popular" music but her favorite band is Zebra Head.
We have very diverse musical tastes. We like older music we are big Genesis fans, Eric Clapton, James Taylor, and also love swing music, Cherry Poppin Daddies, Big Bad Voodoo Daddys. For some of the more modern bands, we are into the Killers, Yellowcard, John Mayer.

C&K
Ok kids, we are old school classic rock and country. The Allman Brothers is one of my all time favorites. Others include Led Zeppelin, Clapton, Dire Straits, Lynrd Skynrd, The Doors, Marshall Tucker Band, Little Feat, The Eagles, etc.. We listen to a lot of country now, both old and new. Rascal Flats rocks! Brooks and Dunn, Alan Jackson, Keith Urban, George Strait, etc, etc.. Lots of hot, hot women country singers. It's all good. Don't get rap though. Of course my parents didn't get the Beatles, so to each his own.
Blues...especially BB KING!
Old school here, Love Steely Dan, Clapton, some Bonnie Rait and just about any of the classic rock bands.
We also love Old Chicago, Atlanta Rythm Section, Peter Frampton, 70s and early 80s springsteen, Peter Gabriel, and The Stones.
Thumper loves Metallica...she even has a metallica tattoo..lol.... we both like heavy stuff...system of the down, godsmack....ect.... we also love the "Hair Bands "... but we do leason to all kinds of music... and try to stay away from country.....lol

All things Jazz and Blues. Especially, Ray Charles, T-Bone Walker, Big Joe Turner, Willie Dixon, Freddy King, Albert King, Jimmy Witherspoon, John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Lightin' Hopkins, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Otis Rush, Jimmy Rogers, Pinetop Perkins, James Cotton, Bobby Blue Bland, B.B. King, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Tina Turner, Ike Turner, Albert Collins, Etta James, Jonny Lang and the list keeps going...

I also like Big Band, Boogie, Classical, 50's Doowop, Motown, 60's & 70's rock, Hated most 80's, I like a lot of 90's alternative rock, Much of the alternative rock today (Slipknot, Marlyn Manson, etc). Love harmonized acappella, LadySmith Black Mambazo, Celtic/Gaelic music. This can go on forever. I am eclectic for the most part. Rap is my least favorite, though I've heard a few catchy collaberations that have stayed with me for awhile. Let me end with this... Tenacious D kicks ass. I'll have Tami post her favorites if she feels like it. She's not a big fan of the forum. LOL.

Here is a little Muddy Waters singin' "Mannish Boy":

Great topic. I like different types of music.....everything from classic country and western to metal. Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, George Jones to name a few country to Metallica, Megadeth, Disturbed, Type O Negative. I also love 60's- Doors, The Hollies. Damn I could go on for hours. Then there's the 70's- Fleetwood Mac, Lynard Skynard, Pink Floyd. I can't really get into rap that much; although there are a few songs that catch my ear.
Swolen Members??? Do they play skin flutes and bonaphones?
We like all kinds of music between the two of us. Scottie is more classic rock with a little country thrown in when bored. My current playlist has queen, hinder, pink, gwen, brian adams, josh stone, dell shannon, eagles, fergie, styx, big and rich, trans siberian orchestra, linken park. I also have a few that I just like the tune, but i haven't a clue who they are.

m

Valance.....loreena is awesome.....I only discovered her last fall...
Don...You forgot Blind Melon Chittlin'

He likes all sorts...but gravitates towards "classic" country...Whatever the hell that is...BUT thats what the station says...LOL

She likes odd stuff...Mostly European...But then again...She IS from Switzerland...
That information is in our profile because i feel it is a very stronge part of "who you are".

Bella likes to listent to Ella Fitzgerald and Oingo Boingo and has an affenity for Lezbian Bands
Hunter loves MeatLoaf and any thing writen by Jim Steinman as well as Show Tunes and 80s Rock.
Was there any good music from the 90's? its just a question, so relax everybody in Seattle.
The 80's kicked ass!!! The music, the movies, and the chicks with puffed up hair, and mini skirts.... Hair Band Music, and Modern Music were born...
Personally I'm a Metallica and Godsmack fan!! But I also know where my roots lay you can't go wrong with Led Zepplin or Black Sabath. A little down and dirty rock and roll is great to I really groove on George Thorogood.

Even further back is the Blues I love a little Muddy Waters, Johny Lee Hooker, etc. The blues is probably the sexiest music there is. Slow melodic with a good beat.

I didn't forget him, I just didn't want to spend hours writing blues musicians' names down LOL. Oh and it's funny that you mentioned Chicago Symphony's recording of Orff's 'O Fortuna. That piece is the background music to my private video on my profile. I love that piece it kicked ass in Excalibur, though I think it would fit any war movie. It's not unlike Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries".

Here is another good war movie song:

I myself like everything from Led Zepplin- Pink Floyd, to Metallica-Godsmack, to new stuff from Sevendust, Stone Sour, & Crossfade to name a few.
Older Metallica was better then the new stuff, up until "And justice for all", after that it wasn't that good at all, what we call sell out music.

Stephanie likes the hair bands from the 80's: Def leppard, Bon Jovi, Ratt, Poison, Cinderalla, & Slaughter.
She aslo like the new women bands like: Poe, Saraha Mclachlan, Hole, 4 non-blonds, & Jewel.

The one type of music we do not like at all is "COUNTRY", I guess it is due to it being force fed down our throat since we were children here in Utah.
I think we have 500 country stations here and maybe 3 soft rock stations, where is the hard stuff! LOL

Just thought I would add my 2 cents worth.

Peace!

Wayne & Stephanie
Jane's Addiction, American Minor, R.E.M., Faster Pussycat, Slayer, The Small Faces, The Damned, Ministry, Depeche Mode, The Cure, General Public, The Killers, Twisted Sister, Venom, Elton John, Black Sabbath, Sponge, Thin Lizzy, T. Rex, The Ramones, Gargamel!, Genitorturers, The Meatmen, Judas Priest, Rancid, Iron Maiden, Early Def Leppard, Metallica (pre black album), The Byrds, Graham Parsons, Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, The Who, Gordon Lightfoot, System of a Down, Junkyard, Camper Van Beethoven, Cracker, Belly, Adam Ant, Sparks, The Hefners, The Jam, Neil Young, Townes Van Zant, Pulp, Cheap Trick, Talking Heads, Chuck Berry, Nine Inch Nails, Sublime, Peter Tosh, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, Marilyn Manson, Erasure, Black Mountain, Elvis Costello, Van Halen (DLR Era), Queen, The Rusty Nails, The Pogues, Fatboy Slim ( If this is Techno, we like it regardless), Kyuss/Queens of the Stone Age, Danzig, Black Flag, Yes, The Kinks, The Yardbirds, Blind Faith, Rob Zombie/White Zombie, The Runaways, Procol Harum, Green Day, The Cars, Black Eyed Peas, Gorillaz, Bloodhound Gang, The Beatles, Jethro Tull, All 3 generations of the Hank Williams family, Otis Redding, MC5, The Woggles, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Misfits, Bob Dylan, Motorhead, Muddy Waters, Sam Cooke, The White Stripes, Hanoi Rocks, Iggy Pop, Sisters of Mercy, Graham Parker,The Rolling Stones, Gwar, Sly and the family stone, Cat Stevens, The Band, The Clash, KMFDM, Bare Naked Ladies, Dead Kennedys/Jello Biafra, Johnny Cash, Madness, Bob Marley, The Beastie Boys, and The Sweet.

As you can see I'm all over the place, and this is a tiny list of what I like. What neither of us can stand is Electronica ( and all the little bastard sub-genres, except darkwave), most new RnB and Hip-Hop, Jazz (I respect guys like Miles Davis, and John Coltrane, and Jaco Pastorius, but you can't make me listen to them).

Last but certainly least is New fucking Country. There is a special place in hell for these bastards.

Here is another song I enjoy. I am not sure what it is. It's so simplistic, yet it compells me to listen to it. I am not a religious person. Yet, I really like this song. I also love the Folk and Blues Grass like that portrayed in O' brother where art thou? the movie starring George Clooney, that was loosely based on Homer's "Oddessy".

Anyway, I like the feel of this song. This is Tom Waits singing "Jesus gonna be here".

Or perhaps the ladies might like Jonny Lang's acoustic version of "Breakin Me":

Call us crazy but Jimmy Buffett rules ROFL. Any other ParrotHeads out there? After him there is the oldies like classic rock Aerosmith Jethro Tull Pink Floyd and many others
Hey Goodgenes,

If you like Dethklok, check out local bands Cryptobiotic and Maimcorps. They're both on Myspace and play at Club Vegas a lot.
I like stuff like Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, Ratt, Poison.
Wow!!!! No Tool or NIN on anyone's list. 2 bands that all should enjoy.
I can't believe no one said AC/DC guess I am out of the LOOP :)

Well ya know I have to say my band N-U-endo. But growing up in the Bay Area, I was introduced to all kids of music from Parliament/Funkadelic to Vicious Rumors Who by the way will be playing at Club Vegas on March 31st and my band is one of the openers!
BT, Fluke, Tiesto, PVD, Oakenfold...

For those that aren't into Electronic...the smooth sounds of some Tool, Disturbed, Papa Roach...

Then we have classics: BOC, Styx, LZ, etc, etc.

Heavy Metal and the various New Wave goodness (Depeche Mode!)

And of course more music than I could possibly throw out (Type-O-, HIM, etc, etc...LOA!)

We like most of it!

Most anything political and/or against the "geopolitical machine" and religion.
Like Rage against the machine, Pink Floyd, Godsmack, etc.
His two favorites not in that realm are The Black Crowes and Candlebox.
And of course we cant leave out the mighty Zepplin and the EVH.

We always listen and sing along to this Marylin Manson song ("This is the new shit") when going to clubs and parties:

"Bubble bubble, bitch bitch, part party, rebel rebel, sex sex sex and dont forget the violence.
Bla bla bla, got your lovey dovey, sad and lonely, stick your stupid slogan in and everybody sing
along!"

Are you mother fuckin ready for the new shit?

I got the you know what, stick it you know where, you know why - you dont care.
Let us entertain you"

Oh, and we like classical too, as in Mozart!
I enjoy a wide variety of music. I have to say that thrash metal is my overall preference. My least being most country, disco and jazz.

~T~
Mostly new age rock and some of the big hair bands of the 80's. But we also enjoy jazz, classical, and big band ....depending on the mood.
