Right is right and wrong is wrong, and this is the wrong site for this kind of stuff.

TR was just trying to make a tribute to our troops, something posistive. Whether ppl agree or disagree with them being there, I am with Don.....THEY ARE THERE either way!!! I do believe that this site isn't the place to be debating that point. In either case, there are fellow swingers on this site that are military couples/ppl so what is so wrong with showing some tribute and thanks to them. Why turn it into a negative battle........Thanks TR for starting a thread and showing some thanks and appreciation for those serving our country. Ignore those that turn it into negativity. Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying that I agree with anything in this thread or that the post is convincing or even coherent. However, people have a right to say what they want as long as it isn't slanderous.
On the flip-side, one should also be prepared for others to form opinions about what is said and about the poster. If a poster can't handle that without whining then maybe they shouldn't post in the first place. This country is amazing and somewhat unique in the open discourse afforded our society. It's almost guaranteed that there will be someone who disagrees with you.
Another point - it's probably a gross generalization to assume that all military personnel reading this or watching the videos will appreciate it. A majority of them might, but I've never been big on majority opinions.
If it makes someone feel good to post this sort of thread then great, but most actions in life will generate a reaction - good, bad or both. Deal with it.

I personally see no problem with supporting or providing a tribute to the men and women who are serving. This forum is clearly not a right or wrong about the war but the men and women who are doing their duty and a damn good job of it.

It is just a shame others have to hijack it with rehtoric for either party. As for the clips, there is no way I could pick out where they were shot.

Why not just post a tribute to the men and women of the military, without comment on policy or administration, or shut the hell up. If you see fit to make comment on policy or the administration instead of make a tribute one could deduce that you don't think they deserve it. The facts are that they do. As do those of the Vietnam era. They too served in a war that was not popular but they did their duty. They also deserve tribute.

Personally I say God bless the military men and women. You are awesome and we support you 200 percent.

I am glad we are taking a moment to think of those who are in harms way for whatever reason, right, wrong, blue, or eighteen. Who cares why. SWINGTIDE, none of the videos posted are a LIVE FEED, nor are they subject to investigation by C.I.D. or being disciplined under U.C.M.J. The problems you are mentioning have to do with the network media's broadcasting live feeds of troop movements and tactics. Video of battles after the fact pose no threat to security. BE REAL! If that were the case we wouldn't be showing video from the first Gulf War even now.

The same public affairs designees from these units release an almost daily video regarding there actions. No one has stopped them because of security violations yet. If you follow these, as I do, you will find that a lot of these soldiers want the story told through their own eyes and words. They don't want propaganda to interfere with reality. When the "liberal friendly" leftwing media gets ahold of things they paint an uglier picture of our troops. They seem to aid in demoralizing and killing the morale of our troops as do some of the people on this forum. They media also sway's the weak-minded people like GOODGENES and their lefty buddies. Propaganda is powerful stuff.

Posting these video allows people like you and others at home to see the strife our brothers and sisters overseas are dealing with. It shows us the nitty gritty. I don't need to volunteer at the V.A. or the USO. I volunteered by enlisting 14 years ago. I feel these video pay homage to the sacrifice by helping the troops tell the truth to us in their own words and media, not the liberally biased media that pump shit into your house via that magic picture box the sheople like GoodGenes and his buddy gobble up like zombies.

Furthermore your suggestion that these videos somehow give away our tactics it absurd. These videos are past tense and show action with an already engaged and savvy enemy force. The videos show battles that have already happened. The enemy uses two tactics against us. different forms of IED 's and ambushes (snipers, small arms and RPG's). Oh sorry and the daily mortar attacks. So it seems 3 primary ways. Guerilla warfare is older than the Native Americans who taught the white boys that came from England.

So before you go on this long winded lecture about security... Think about this. If the videos were detrimental to our mission, why are the very same troops still sending the videos home??? All the cameramen in this documentary were troops with cameras. They were all selected prior to deployment and continued that secondary mission throughout their deployment. Much of the video shows locations, IED's, Ambushes, dealings with corrupt Iraqi Police etc. So don't even try to go there brutha man. Your stance doesn't hold water my friend. Get it into your heads, everyone has there own opinions. The thread was not opened to argue it was opened to support and pay tribute too. I somehow dont think argueing with TR is tribute to our troops. THey want to know they are thought of and are missed and are supported. Putting TR down somehow just doesnt feel like support. Some of you feel he is misguided in the vids he posted to show support, well then post your own POSITIVE vid to counteract it then. Ya know, my favorite part of Gibson's movie "The Patriot" is when the debate is on in Charleston as to whether to raise a conscript army in support of General Washington. Gibson's character is put on the spot, being a decorated veteran of the French-Indian wars, and he tells them all -- eloquently -- that he has seen war in ways that few of them had. He tells them that he is a single father, and that he is not willing to leave his children without a parent. And because he won't fight, he will not vote to send anyone else to fight.

Was that cowardice? No. Was it hypocrisy? Most assuredly not, just the opposite. You might say "it's just a movie," but that is avoiding the point.

I am a former Marine, enlisted. My grandfather was in Europe, WWII. My father served in the Navy in Vietnam. My uncle brought metal back from the Nam, and a cousin came back under the flag. My brothers were in the Army and Air Force. We have EARNED the right to agree or disagree, as has every mother, father, brother, sister or child of a fallen serviceman or woman. If I disagree with this war, that does not make me a "leftist," whatever that is believed to mean.

I had not posted to this thread before because that is not why we're on this site. I do not have any trouble with paying tribute to the troops, regardless of my feelings about this war. I'm just relieved to see the rhetoric toning down. Please, folks, let's keep it going in that direction.

I feel we should show the that the sacrifices we've made, in the end will do some damn good. Allow me to pay tribute how I see fit. I agree with you Classy :-) I just want this thread to be about positively commending the troops for their sacrifices. Not a platform to have an anti-war debate. I do not want to squabble here. My view of "positive", is showing them in action actually kickin ass on those Haji prick bastards. Others may wanna show pics of praying soldiers etc. I just wanna do it in my own way. Feel free to do it yours. Again my condolences as to your loss. My wife and I salute you and your family for it's sacrifice. I too lost 3 good friends in my old Infantry Unit there. Let's ensure that the sacrifices weren't in vain. We can do this by not falling victim to the liberal mainstream medias propaganda, nor the propaganda that our goverment is trying to put out. Since there are two extremes here with our troops in the middle, I say we trust what the men & women on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan are saying. Just a thought.

WOW, although I know that was the enemy the ones that kill innocent people (referring to the last vid clip that TR posted)....it is still a bit upsetting to me to see death. I guess it makes it real. I am glad that no US Soldier was killed during that mission (or maybe some were, I don't know). I am not sure I can watch video clips that show death up close like that. I haven't watched all of your clips a few have been really awesome, This last one just got to me. Like I said, I haven't ever seen death up close and real such as that was.

I recently have been told that my brother tom (Gunnery Sgt Spalding USMC) will be going back over there for the 3rd time. I ask for your prayers for both he and his family. Oh and silly string too. To whom it may concern,


This is a must see for any person concerned with the Iraq situation. I would like to thank GOODGENES for turning me onto this site in another thread. I never realized PBS had full versions of their programming available for stream on their website. This video is a documentary following the 8th Cav during the month of November. This video shows that a great deal of Muslims there act in extreme manner toward anything they do not agree with. For example, They bomb a christian church for no reason other than hatred and intolerance. Additionally the family of a casualty of was vows to suicide bomb a company commander, blaming him because the haji retard was caught in a crossfire between insurgents and American troops. It's not some, but all people in that region are born and raised in this retchid environment, brainwashed like fuckin' sheep. If we leave now, we will be feeding these sheep to the wolves, that will in turn become wolves that will just commit other terrorist acts here on our own soil. Many say there is a similarity between Iraq and Vietnam. I agree there is a similarity. It's called Lefist sympathy toward our enemy causing decension amongst our people and causing us to lose hearts and minds, underminding our mission.
