Hello all! Here's a question I havn't found an answer to. Do most people in the lifestyle use their real names or an alias? I came to know a couple from another site, chatting with them for months online. When we finally met they told me their real names. I was unsure what to think. I see on one side the need to be discreet, and on the other, being honest with those you are working to gain the trust of. I must say I wasn't mad... just unsure of the "standard practice." So... 1) do you use your real names? 2) would you be mad if the person you met was using an alias?

At least with Voltar and Keldra you would have the beginings of conversation that might begin. So why on "Gods Green Earth" Would your Parents Lay those kind of Monikers on Ya? Hell! They must of been some kind Of Ill Eagle Aliens or some Damn Thing! My Favorite ones through are Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice. If you don't understand why people want to protect their identity you haven't yet had the need yourself. There are some very weird, sometimes sick, people lurking about. We have had stalkers and guys who cannot seem to understand "no thanks". We are careful to protect our idenity now. If the people are nice and fun we don't care if their names are Fred and Wilma Flinstone. We understand why they do it. Ever been walking through the mall and had some guy yell out your name? You might someday.

That's interesting, I gotta say I would feel pretty uncomfortable having known a couple by certain names which they gave us and then meet them and find out their names are totally different. I mean I have no problem with chatting with people and only knowing them by their login name. We use our login names online most of the time. We don't toss our real names out in chat and the people who know us don't refer to us by them when we're chatting, that's just a courtesy for those who'd rather not have their name out there for all and sundry. We prefer not to have complete strangers knowing our real names, but once we've gotten to know someone pretty well we will give our real names. That's from an online perspective anyway. Local parties, we give our real first names and have never really had an issue with people knowing them.
Though we, unlike a lot of people, don't give our phone numbers out to very many people. Had some awkward situations from that. I mean friends with benefits is one thing and bestest, bestest friends who you call anytime of the day or night and talk to for hours on end is a VERY different thing and we haven't had time for that since high school, sorry. Not that certain people (you know who you are) should be thinking that they shouldn't call as often as they do. You aren't the people who couldn't take a hint.

The need to be discreet sometimes forces ppl to use another name other then their real names. I know for us in the begininng I was so paranoid that someone we knew would see us online or something. We were extremely careful who we gave info too. We had to see them first, to make sure they didnt know us, or know someone that knew us.....now I am a bit more relaxed about it. However, we still only give info to ppl that we plan on meeting up with, because we only meet up with ppl that we have talked to quite a bit online. As far as if someone told us wrong names what would we think of it??? We wouldnt think anything of it. It isnt like they are telling a huge lie .....and its for good intentions it isnt to be vindictive or hurtful!! I say, NO BIG DEAL.....there are much worse things to be lied to about then someone's name because they havent met you b4, and know nothing about you (other then a few chats and exchanges online) I mean, cut them some slack, you have to be careful these days!!!

When we first started on the internet we were also quite shy about giving out real info. As we learned more we realized that those who would see us were also either in the lifestyle of trying to learn about it to get into it. So now the only thing that is not real in our profile is the Pg about the priest and the card game... we will always give our names and area but not our address until we get to know people. I really don't know the last names of many of the people we know in the lifestyle and they don't know ours... So be as honest as you feel you can be, is our policy..
