Is it just us or do the people who post 20 times a day on every topic here drive everybody nuts? If others are interested they will find you. You don't need to consume the entire forum board with your face on every topic multiple times.
Nope not just you...We soooo agree!!!!
That can be maddening but it also makes us wonder...Why do these people have so much time on their hands?
On the other hand if your new to a site (like us) some shameless self-promotion never hurts.
What really drives us crazy, and its the reason we no longer attend many parties, are what we call "Lookie Lous". You know the type...They are curious about the lifestyle (and if its their first or second party we understand) OR the ones that really make us nuts stand on the walls of a group room and just watch or try to give directions but never join in the debauchery.
One other thing that used to drive us nuts when we lived in Ely, Nevada was driving 250 or 300 miles for a date, getting to our hotel room, calling the other couple to let them know we are there and our room number and that's when they back out. It happend on 3 different occasions (twice in Reno a 300 mile drive and once in Vegas 250 miles).
OK we are done ranting and thanks for letting us.

If there is an ongoing debate in the forum (it's usually called a discussion... The very point of a forum), then wouldn't you agree that the likelihood of someone involved in a conversation, posting more than one time, is pretty damn good? Ask yourselves, how many one sentence or one statement conversations have you had in life? People who enjoy or seek this in forums are called "conversationalists". It's not wrong to get to know others. That is, after all, the reason we are all here.
The poster puts their view out and the reader can decide whether they agree, disagree or desire to further discuss or elaborate on their side. It's like a dance of the minds. Some like the waltz, some like salsa, while others like a Mosh Pit. Just because you don't mosh doesn't mean that you should attempt to deny others of enjoying it. Tolerance is what I am getting at.
I am a self-proclaimed asshole, but I still have the right to express myself. I have differing views from lots of people here. That's what I find to be beautiful about people. We are all unique in some form or another. It's uncovering those uniquities, I find to be the "buried treasures" among the vast diversity of people that post here. It's a small window into their being. You don't always like what you see, but it's still there no matter how much you complain.
It's like those who had DJQ kicked off of here. I hated his views and all for which he stood, but in the end all he was guilty of was written expression of his view. Many wanted his head to roll and had him removed. Why? Because he didn't agree. Hell, he attacked my very service to this country. I hated his views. However, I still think he had the right to speak his heart. Admittedly, The forum became slightly less exciting after he left. The majority who read the forum remember what a prick he was, but they do remember him. He contributed to the conversation, no matter how skewed we felt his leftist position to be.
I'll close my post with this... We are swingers... Don't you think people would disagree with our lifestyle choices, our views on marriage and the morale implications (if you are religious)?
Furthermore, doesn't it all come down to personal choice. Just like you have the choice not to read this very post. :-) Just my thoughts, nothing more.
Respectfully,
-Mr TR-
P.S. I whole-heartedly invite you to tell me to fuck off for my differing view. :-)

I agree with you UTCPL.............
Thanks Thumper you are one of many who feel the same. There are some real winners out there.
I'm certain that if other people posted topics and discussions in the forum, then we'd not see the same "20" or so as you state. Perhaps the reason why we always see the same ones isn't necessarily because they have some innate desire to be spotlight hogs...but merely because they are the ONLY 20 regularly posting on the site? Let's encourage some of the quieter peeps/couples to share just as freely!

UTCPL, what is the point of this discussion. What is the ends? Do you derive some sort of gratification seperating people into social clicks? It seems rather sophomoric don't you think? Most people leave that mentality in highschool. Instead of making a blanket statement about those who post regularly to the forum. It seems to me that you are trying to point a finger at a group of people who use the forum as an enjoyable way to express themselves; to belittle them for the their willingness to open up and share their minds with others. If I am wrong, please elaborate on the purpose of this thread. I am curious as to the intent and don't want to get the wrong idea about you.

Man, all I have to say is if we were all really that in tune and that worried about what everyone else had to say, or the frequency of their comments, we'd all be in padded rooms. Turn the news on sometime, or open a newspaper. Isn
I think what happens (or at least in our case) is we get a little free time, read a bunch of forums (for us the best feature on swingular for us due to our location compared with others on the site), and post a bunch.
TR, as always enjoy your posts. We don't always agree but enjoy the view point anyway.
Thought, hats off to both people in your pictures. The ones in them and the talent behind the camera. Very nicely done. Not bad subjects either (wink)
HUGS all around today....

<< tips his hat to the blues man and the beauty that stands at his side. Thanks for the kind and thoughtful words Ken. You are one hell of a writer as well. I enjoy reading your eloquently conveyed thoughts that are often laced with wit, sarcasm and a "don't-give-a-fuck" attitude.
All I was saying is... Life is too short to focus on belittling others because they don't meet your standard. Move on to those that do. Does complaining to or about them change the circumstance? You can save both parties the trouble if you just... Move on.

Well, since we are on the subject of the forums, I have a gripe. It is not so much with the poster as with the set up itself. Often you see post about parties and events that are happening in one area such as Florida, Missouri or Utah, that fill the forum column from top to bottom for days and sometimes weeks. It is great to have this imfo on the site, but wouldn't it be better to have a seperate message board for such anouncements and leave this forum for topics and items that might interest everyone. So, I guess if anyone else agrees with me on this and the Addministrator sees this, he might consider having such an area on the home page just for events. I know that the forums has a category for announcements but that does not solve the situation I am talking about.
As to the matter that was being discussed, the answer is simple, if you don't like what is being posted or who is posting, you can take the time to post what you wish to replace those that are on the board. If you don't, you don't have much of an argument the way I look at it. That is what I do and plan on continuing to do when I have the time.
Mr. Lusty

LUSTYTWO4U,
There is a place to put annoncements in the forum. As you can see from the pic I've attached, there is a forum dedicated to such events. The shortcut to the 4-5 latest threads show up on the main page. So perhaps the admin should redo the script to show the latest thread from each catagory. I see where you are going and the idea has merit.
Great suggestion.

Exactly my point TR, no matter if it is picture fun, life style talk or announcements, any one could fill all 5 of the current home page slots. I don't think local or regional events should do that. The forums should be for things that might be of interest to anyone no matter where they live. I feel it is important to be able to post these events, and sometimes I read them anyway just to see what others are up to. It is a great way to get new ideas if nothing else. They just belong in an area dedicated only to announcements and nothing else.
I have noticed that there aren't a lot of people who post... Why is that? Isn't this supposed to be a place where like-minded adults get together and share experiences, make friends and learn from other people? Not to mention the physical aspect. If that isn't the case then this would just be another online meat market, would it not? There are quite a few outspoken people here, and though not everyone may agree with everything that is said, at least you can express those opinions in the company of others that can somehow relate. Nothing wrong with that...

hehe...very observant linear...that thought crossed my mind as well!
Here goes with my thoughts on this whole discussion. As some here know I have been quite vocal and active on another site where questions were put on the forum from people who had questions about the lifestyle or about STD's about how to get momma more involved or how to get her hubby or SO more involved in swinging. Some of the questions were about issues that came up by couples who had been swinging for some time and they were just starting to really deal with the implications. Linear you are one very astute individual... talk about an oxymoron..... and then everyone jumps on the band wagon about how things are or should be. People like Mr TR present logical arguments about why people post and asks, in effect, why shouldn't they...
Miosha asks "why don't a lot more people post?" Not a direct quote but I think I've gotten the essence of their post. And here goes my diatribe. (I use the word diatribe in the sense of; ironical or satirical criticism. If people don't wish to hear what I have to say, then go to another page, PLEASE!
If people were to come into this FORUM and found questions like those stated above and more, instead of area info, pictures, bitching and generally mundane topics, maybe more people would post. There has to be a spark generated by a small circle of people who can and will try to answer serious questions. Some discussions are, while distastful or considered to abrasive are the stuff that can get that poster involved and become a spark to the end that might make this FORUM a really useful place for people to come to get questions answered, generate answers to those questions and a meeting place where people can meet and learn about the lifestyle. DJQ was starting to mellow but even when I challenged him I found him quite lucid. I didn't agree with him on all subjects and I didn't think that some were appropriate for this format but he had a right to voice his opinions and some thought that was abusive to them....Maybe I'm next.....
I'm a retired (and I call myself retarded, the past tense of retired) and have much time on my hands. I also have been in the lifestyle for some 11 or 12 years now and have met many people. I'm also a bit older, and while that doesn't confer wisdom it does mean that I have acquired a bit of experience. I don't know everythig but if I can even open a slight bit of enlightment by telling of an experience that I feel is pertenant, then I do try to put my 2 cents in. I may even try to interject a bit of humor in some posts....
I sometimes have questions that are about my experiences and will put it out there to see what the concensus is, on that question.
I think too many in here are too confrontational and think that a forum is a place to take offence and go on the offence. Whatever happened to people understanding that a discussion is not about one view or opinion. It's about people voicing their opinions without rancor or emnity. That means no flaming, no taking potshots at the original poster or anyone who replies and stating your opinion in non threatening ways or maybe I should say without telling someone that they are dead wrong. There is always some truths to almost anything that is said by anyone.... The lifestyle is about fun and RESPECT. Let's learn how to respect others in this forum....

I agree MOISHA. I will admit that I am usually very colorful in presentation, often offending others with the conveyance of my thoughts, but if you read past my shock humor style, you'll find a foundation of good intention. I like to shock others from the mundane world of their own narrow view to help facilitate an open-minded conversation.
I post because I enjoy controversy and difference in perspective. I find that other's views can be intriguing and sometime absolutely enlightening to me. I have a unquenchable thirst for knowledge and understanding of my fellow humans and the environment we all share. I see this forum as a rich opportunity to better understand the many facets of this underground lifestyle and the culturally diverse people who partake of it's "forbidden" fruits.
So, with that being said, I will close my contribution to the subject with this. I will post as long as I feel I have something to say... I hope that you will do the same.
Sincerely,
-Mr. TR-

UTCPL (U-TAW COUPLE)
We have been posting in this forum since this website had a whole different name. (Longer than June 2, 2002) We don't post here much because I'm usually greeted with "Post Hung Dicks Here" / "Post Vagina pics that bare the likeness of Jesus" / "Post photos of your asshole so close we can see what you had for dinner/ and the list goes on.
So we post regulary on "another lifestyle forum" that's more geared to what I find interesting. Although I don't find these type posts interesting I DO UNDERSTAND in other forums about 20-30 posters are the life blood of the forum. Everyone else (Like us and YOU here)) are just drive by posters, strictly hit and miss.
So UTCPL you drove by, you took a shot and you MISSED. (Got any William Hung dic picks) :S

FL4FUN.. ya damn FORUM hoe!! LMAO
To us it is simply a little too much look at me, here I am again look at me, look at me, look at me, here I am again look at me me me me. It is a sign of insecurity & is a complete & total turn off.
We agree with you , some people post just for the purpose of "hearing themseves speak" . It is not a constructive conversation...its just to draw attention to themselves, and not in a way that would make them attractive to those they are talking to.
So, what do you call this thread??? (drawing attention to yourself) Just curious!!! We actually enjoy seeing ppl's views, and educated opinions on subject matter. Obviously, you must pay attention yourself, if you know who is posting alot and who isnt.......so, you must have alot of time on your hands as well. IT shouldn't matter how many times one posts, its all about being able to voice your own opinions so who cares. If you dont like it, or you dont like the answers, or opinions then dont read them, its a choice.
HOT4U_INUT2,
Some people gain "attention" by posting explicit photos in their profile, some people write extensive profiles while others feel a paragraph covers all one needs to know.
And some people post a lot in forums.
Normally the idea here is in fact to draw attention, only the methods differ.
Personally if it were me I'd rent a sign.

FLCPL4FUN0920, don't get me going, you know I'd scare these folks to death. :-)

Wait a minute here! Are we not all on this site for some kind of attention from others who might be interested in meeting or making friends with us, even if it is just in a cyber capacity in many instances. Well, I guess we should all ignore the forums, stay out of the chatroom and not look at anyones profiles. HUH!? What is left of the site? Oh, I know the sexy photo contest. Hmmm, better forget about that too, that could draw me or give someone else attention. See how silly this is. The site would be dead.
Very good point...LUSTY!!! Well said! We are in essence advertising ourselves to other potential fun friends....RIGHT??, so if answering the forums, emailing potential friends, posting pic's is drawing attention to oneself, then .........thats bad, WHY?
Good point Lusty? Excuse me?
Did I NOT make the point FIRST. :S
Let me READ MY RESPONSE AGAIN.

I don't think attention has anything to do with one's regular posting at all. Personal interest in the subject does. One's desire to better understand an opposing view is often the motivator. To say that you are trying to draw attention to yourself by regularly posting to the forum is ridiculous. How does that get you anymore attention than chatting on the vid chat? When a discussion comes up the participants give their input until they feel they've gained closure to the subject. Sometimes the subject has many facets and with a variety of people, come a variety of perspectives and views on the subject. This can often lead to quite lengthy discussions, not unlike the current thread.
I am unsure as to how the "attention" could extend any further than the participants involved in the discussion. This allows all parties involved to receive equal "attention". I know for myself, that "attention" from others is not the goal when I post. Often, my plan is to get to know more about the people who come in to type their thoughts or to type my own. I compare it to a daily ritual, kinda like drinking coffee and reading the newspaper; only this is interactive, I can voice my opinion and get feedback... I guess you could call that attention. Is that a bad thing? I thought that was the point of a forum.
Mr. TR

Our post was ment to be a self serving "look at me". After all this is a sight were you want people to look at you!

Look at me here i am again!...LOL I'll be honest my posts we ment to help fan the flames! I see it as comedy that a topic about too many posts...has gotten 5 pages worth of posts! I am assuming that we are all here to meet people...? Then does it really matter how that person or couple attempts to gain notice from others? It just seemed sophmoric to have so many people , so strongly devided on such a petty topic, that i could not help meself! If everyone on this site gets what they want out of it (meet new people, just chat, find an outlet for their rants...whatever it is they are looking for) then ,why make a fuss about posts or some one's self esteem? So now some or most of you will think I am an ass....but thats ok . I just think everyone should just try to get what they want out of this site, for what ever reason they joined . Some people need to post alot, some don't. thats life!
Mr. hot4u

Sorry FL4FUN, I didn't mean to steal your post or slight it in anyway, it was simply my way of showing that I agree with that line of thinking that you and some others have made a point of. I like pictures (as they say, a picture is worth a 1000 words), and since you can't take one of this subject I just figured I would draw one as visually as I could with words, and show how rediculess the arguement for the other pole of this topic is.
I have to agree that someone who post to fill all five of the slots is a little on the over zealous side, but the simple solution to that is to post something yourself to push them out of at least one of the slots. If you don't, just live with it and go on doing your own thing, I know I will.
SORRY AGAIN FL4FUN, hope you except my apology, but also see that I was only meaning to compliment and add my agreement to those who made a point similar to yours.

I was of the opinion that we all were looking for things that stayed hard for as long as possible. Or was that we try to hard? So in an attempt to get My Fat Ass looked at( I dearly need the attention and total recogntion from My Peers) and just to piss off the original Poster, Or whom else is absolutly inthrawled in this post, fourm, thread, Boot Scoot and kidd and kaboodle.
