We are considering a trip to Hedo II in Negril sometime next spring. For those that have traveled there over the last few months, did you feel safe and would you consider it a safe trip? Thank you for your help/advise.
Absolutely we felt safe. Just book a reputable transportation company for your transfers. The violence in Jamaica is in the central to eastern side of the island (closer to Kingston). We go every summer and there has been a "warning" every time we go. Absolutely no issues.
I have gone every January with a group for the last 6 years, and it's always felt safe. Is there something in particular that happened recently that would make it less safe? I am booked for January 2025.
No, nothing in particular recently. We had read a travel advisory that stated to reconsider travel to the country due to crime but I think that advisory has been out there for quite a while.

Oh, yeah I have never experienced anything negative there, and it would have to be something really negative to keep me from going back.
Totally safe if you stay in the resort area. We’ve been to Hedo 16 times & always good.

We were in Jamaica over 10 years ago and the word caution was used then and probably still applies. We were at an all inclusive next to Hedo at the far end of the island. We carefully picked transportation to the resort as stated in a previous note. When we left the resort we were always in a group. We were warned about buying drugs and souvenirs from the beach vendors. Great trip, but the vast poverty that existed there at the time still sticks in my mind. Have a great time.
