I think this function would be great… for an assigned Moderator to use. If you give the OP the ability to do this it will most likely be abused by the OP to censor comments they don’t like or agree with and that kills friendly debate.

I can understand removing abusive, racist, and threatening comments, but I also believe there should be unbiased, active, assigned Moderators to do this… and ones that show that they will not abuse that power over others comments.

Debate and abusive/obnoxious are very different. Not sure what the balance is but need something. Active moderation is definitely needed but so is consistency. One moderators view may be different than another's, applying equality is a difficult balance that we aren't sure what the exact balance is but know something needs to be different.
