I have followed DJQ's threads through the various forums and read his "thoughts" that he expresses as convictions. Perhaps gospel truths more correctly expresses DJQ's opinion of his thoughts. But isn't it interesting that his position is against whatever positive position is expressed. I have tried to avoid responding simply because he clearly feeds upon the negative feedback.
The convictions he expresses are given as original thought, but they are not. They are simply the antithesis of whatever opinion is expressed. Anyone who does not agree with him is derided as "lacking the capacity for independent thought."
Since when does independent thought consist of a single thought expressed by a single person, that in itself is not original? When is simply being negative original?
(This is were DJQ would throw in a historical simile that makes the writer of the opinion contrary to his a fascist.)
I can forgive him his negative postions, it is simply the easiest one to take in all situations. It requires no action, no thought and no true convictions.
His constant use of weak, shallow history and analysis to support his gospel truths is to be expected. However, this is a common failing in our country and we can forgive him of that.
I don't think the members here begrudge him his position, it is simply that automatically his stance is negative. I suppose he could be forgiven all of that as well.
What cannot be forgiven is the way in which he talks down to everyone who disagrees with him. He uses a pseudo intellectual manner which annoys everyone but DJQ.
I suppose the truth of the man can be found in his nom de guerre. He has chosen to blend two characters from classical Spanish fiction.
Don Juan was a man who supposed himself to be a great lover. Yet Don Juan considered brutal rape an acceptable form of seduction. He considered murder a way to resolve any personal dispute. Don Juan seduced on a bet the innocent fiance of his best friend. Don Juan was a villain. Don Quixote was a harmless delusional figure. Don Quixote intended to do good but lacked the ability. Don Quixote confused tilting at windmills with fighting dragons. Don Quixote's delusion was being a knight in a fairly tale. Don Quixote could not separate his harmless and boring reality from his delusions.
Thus we have an evil man that is delusional.
But he does write well.

I was actually wondering how long it would take someone to post the meanings of his pseudonym, I was avoiding it because I just can't bring myself to point out how moronic it actually is! I have to say I agree a lot with most of the posts in this forum. First thanks to Fitsbelinda for such a wonderful logical presentation. Also Sexybiwife is to be commended for the comments presented. FIrst I do agree that this should not be a political forum but if others want to I don't believe in censorship. For those who commented that we slam just because we disagree with views. I have no problem with anyone having a different opinion, I do have a problem with someone who belittles anything positive and feels they have to drag it down as Don has. The problem is that he belittles, insults and general bullies those who happen to disagree with him and then expects his opinions to be considered. After 20 years in the service and working with veterans on a daily basis I will not respect nor have much tolerance if any with someone who reduces their service or refers to them as a welfare recipient.
My umbrage and anger is not to an opinion opposite of mine, or even slamming the President as each is entitled to their opinion. IT is the constant attacks, belittling and genergal slamming and negativism displayed by Don. I am also sure the others who express anger, and hostility feel the same.

Ok, I thought I would chime in quickly on this issue. I am a combat verteran of 11 years in the U.S. Army. I served in the Gulf War with the 101st ABN Division. I was in Iraq, I saw how these people suffered under the hand of Sadam. Now we may have gone in for reasons that seem to be hard to prove, or atleast the ones everyone seem to be talking about like "WMD's". Well I was in a fox hole as scud missles be flying over head, and I was lucky that the Patiot Missles were able to take them out. I saw what he had, and he had WMD's. Now when the US wanted freedom for England, did we do it alone? No we had help from other countries that saw that we needed help. Iraq is in the same boat, they needed help.
Another thing people do not understand. George W. Bush has two jobs, First he is the President of the United States, you do not have to respect the man, but respect the office. Second he is the Commander in Chief of the Unisted States Armed Forces, and as such he needs to do what is best for our country and our fighting men and women. They are heroes that volunteered to do a job that a vast majority of people in the country would not and could not do. They are there doing the mission that was assigned to them, so SUPPORT THEM! As Commander of the US Armed forces, there are things he cannot share with everyone in the country, there is classified material that is a matter of National Security. if you want to know them, the join the Armed forces and put yourself in a position that would allow you access to this information. Atleast then you would know why it is essitial that this information be kept classified for the safety of our men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect the freadom that we all enjoy every day.
The county that forget its fighting men and women will itself be forgotten. Keep all of our military men in women in your thoughts and prayers, and hope they all return safely when they have accomplished the mission that is so important to each and every one of them.
If you cannot support them, then just sit quiently as ungrateful little shits and enjoy the freedom that these heroes provide for you.
Now lets use this site for what it is meant for and meet people that what to have some fun!!!

OK, So the thread is about Iraq and a methodist peace protest movement. A peace protest being mearly a passive /agressive form of war when thought about, with the fortunate distinction of usually not resulting in casualties or being waged with weapons. The intent is the same, to force some sort of result from an advisary. Since humans have lived with war based economy for the last 4000 years it's no wonder every simple minded presidents(this one just tops the list) thinks it will help maters and once entangled , is stuck with the can of worms. But I think politics here, like all things in life should be in moderation,well, except for what this site is about..(grin)

Both have their good points and bad points.
Thinking either party has all the answers is really stupid.
The fact that they bicker back and forth is a good thing.
Its called checks and balances.
I just wish they and the news media would use a little common sense and remember that the rest of the world and our enemies are watching all this.

Politics should pretty much be approached with humor - it's that absurd.
You are so very right... anyone can take a quote. That leaves the context unknown. This guy is all about seeing how he can bash the country that harbors him. Less responses to idiots leaves less idiotic perfusions.
