We’re very interested as well.
We love Lava Hot Springs. We go several times a year and highly recommend it.
Always a good time in lava!! What’s not to love.
Wild in lava is a 2 night event we(sinful Saturday's) host yearly in January, This is a private event that sinful Saturday group has host for 10 plus years. Traditional it's been an invite only event for couples and select singles.
Sounds like fun!! Can we come??
Where are the best places to stay?
Well I guess we need to be educated. I have drove thru many times. Didn’t look so great to me. What are we missing

We’ve been to Lava a lot through the years. You’re better off finding an Airbnb for yourselves or a few other couples in our opinion.

The hotels there are not great, and are typically in need of renovations, and the ones that are renovated have different issues. The nicest place we’ve stayed in so far was right next to the Blue Moon Bar called “The Suites of Lava Hot Springs”. It was recently renovated and had a kitchen, but for heating it had what looked like a space heater inset in the wall. It did not heat the space well enough in the winter and it was freezing in that room.
Wild in Lava sounds like a fun event, perfect size. DM us if you think we may make the cut to get the exclusive invitation! 😘

Best advice about Lava!

Worst advise I can think of... It defeats one of the biggest attractions of Lava, which is once you park your car for the weekend it doesn't move until you go home.

I can think of few things less fun than driving 35 minutes on mountain roads after a couple of drinks at the Blue Moon or visiting Lava and being tagged the designated driver. Everyone that parties goes to the Blue Moon as that is where the fun is at in the evening.

For those who have never done Lava the main attractions in the summer are tubing the river and the Blue Moon, while the main attractions in the winter are the hot springs and the Blue Moon. There are other things to do and you can mix and match, but we've found that is how our time breaks out when we're not fucking.

We visit Lava 5 or 6 times a year, of those maybe two are for LS Events, two for romantic getaways and two for friends and family.

Lava is known as a local Idaho and Utah swingers destination and there are many there every weekend. The problem is you need to have your meet ups scheduled before arriving as it's almost impossible to sort the LS from the vanilla on site.

Risqué Soiree held an event in Lava last spring that was very fun and well attended, we hope they do it again this year. It was a great event for those new to the LS or anyone wanting to meet friends. Also because it involved both Idaho and Utah there was a lot more interaction than many meet ups where people have a tendency to group up with those they already know.

Lava is one of those places you will either fall in love with and visit often, or visit once to say you have been there and done that and never return. But one thing I can promise, and that is if your room is in Pocatello you'll never understand the nuances that make Lava so charming to many. If you want big fancy hotels and everything about your visit orchestrated you would be much better advised to spend your vacation in Vegas as you will not be happy in Lava.

Anyhoo... that's our two cents, your mileage may vary.
We would like more info also
Never been there always wanted to go

And where do you stay? Is drinking necessary to enjoy lava?

Yep and they are all shitholes so trying to figure out which one isn’t. You never recommend one which is interesting. It’s great but we can’t tell you where a good spot is! You are also are saying in order to enjoy it you have to be drunk. Makes sense because judgement is distorted.

Those are your words and not mine. I never said such a thing. Please don't try to put your words in my mouth. But for the record, I believe in free agency.

As for where the best places are to stay why in the hell would I tell you? You obviously despise the place and I respect that, but many appreciate Lava, which is probably why it's such a popular weekend destination.
We love lava and try to go atleast once a year
We have actually never been. Even after around 8 years of being here!
We may or may not have an attachment to Lava 🤣

Don't have to tell us, tell others on here. Wait there aren't any, so you can't. You talk on every post how great it is but have yet to recommend a place. Put up or shut up about it.

BTW...the hot springs portion is great.
I'm a lover of Lava! The motels, hotels, the restaurants, the town and the residents! Not the most elaborate, of course, it doesn't take a lot to please me. I know several or more of the business owners and residents and love staying there, eating there and especially financially supporting the town and people of Lava! They are great, down to earth people!!! I also, love parking my car upon arrival and not staring it back up until my departure ... which is typically several days ~ "Nothing is enough to the person for whom enough is too little"
We love lava only live hour and half away love to head there with others.

This is our feelings exactly. We love spending the weekend in Lava.
I love the Hot pools, Blue Moon and the people! That being said the Hotels and food are below standards. Is it enough to keep us away...no...would we stay in pocatello...no...I like skinny dipping after the Blue Moon. There is my two cents
In addition to the hot springs tubing the Portneuf River is also a day well spent.

Where do you like to stay when there?
Normally we stay at a KOA and just take the trailer there that way we can do whatever we want for the most part.
We are going. We stay at the Lava Hotel and spa. They have adorable tiny houses out back that we rent.
Freakin looooove Lava! Sadly, I’ve only ever been with vanilla friends though!
This is a good place, But you have to call early because this place fills up fast!
Having grown up in I.F. , lava was a common attraction and so fun. We stop every time we head to, or from Idaho Falls. Never stayed over, heard it’s not the best but that’s hearsay.

As for the Blue Moon, we are not heavy drinkers, but I would think that so long as we tip at least the equivalent of our bill, and pay in cash, and are mostly drinking diet cokes, that the owners won't mind. We're not taking up space without providing compensation.

The Blue Moon is friendly to non drinkers. They actually have good food if you like bar food. They have a really good cook and he usually has a special that varies each day. They also have free ice water at the end of the bar, which is help yourself. In the summer they have a really nice patio out back that has horseshoes, corn hole and Foosball. Saturday and Sunday night they have a live band and dancing.
We love Lava. Not far from home here in IF.
There is another bar. Wagon Wheel. More locally. We love it

There is also the Roof Top Bar, which was new last year. It just depends on what you're looking for.

The Roof Top Bar is brand new and modern. It's housed on the top floor of a just opened condominium development just off Main Street. Really the only downside of the Roof Top is their drinks are expensive compared to the other bars in town and you have to climb a lot of stairs to get there. Those that bitch about everything in Lava being old and run down will probably like the Roof Top.

The Wagon Wheel is located right on Main Street. Is easy to find, and because of that draws many of the new Lava tourists. The bar is part of a family owned restaurant and motel that was built in 1950 something. It's our least favorite of the Lava bars, but that's just us. If you're looking for the bar with the more casual atmosphere this might be your bar.

If you're looking for the happening place on Friday and Saturday night the Blue Moon is really the only option. This is the party bar with patrons of all ages. It's usually loud, crowded, live music, dancing, pool and lots going on. There is usually a $5 cover on nights with live music. Perhaps best of all food and drinks are cheap. The biggest surprise for Utah patrons is they fill their shot glasses to the brim and not that whimpy 1 oz line. The building that houses the bar is at least 100 years old and "rustic" best describes it. The bar is located up a side road about one block off Main Street.

I hope that helps some... It just depends on what you're looking for.
I live 10 minutes away from the Meadow hot springs.
For the Lava Hot Springs fans in the group. They finally began tearing down the old Blue Moon Bar that had the roof cave in last February. I know the reason it took so long was the multiple insurance companies involved were at war with each other. I'm not sure if it will be rebuilt or replaced. But New Years in Lava won't be nearly as fun without the Blue Moon and Red Moon bars being open.

That sucks! A lot of people enjoyed that bar. Hopefully they will be able to rebuild something! Hope you guys can find a place to celebrate this year that will at least come close!
I didn't see it mentioned ... so, there is a new bar that recently opened. It's located where the pancake house used to be ~
Big swingers party this coming weekend!
Lava is one of our favorite places!
Where??

The new bar you mention is a brewery and is more of a restaurant and nothing much happens there. If you want to party the crowd has all moved to the Wagon Wheel. The only real downside to the Wagon Wheel is they allow smoking inside so you walk out smelling like an ash tray.
Where do people stay when going to the hot springs? Is there a LS friendly hotel?
