Is anything going on at Lava this weekend ? We are thinking about going if there is
We are heading there looking for fun...maybe we could get a drink at the blue moon?
We are looking at room availability right now!
Easter weekend makes it tough to get away this weekend!
We will be up there next weekend.
We will be up there next weekend also looking for fun.
Next weekend for us as well!
I am thinking of a surprise trip up with my girlfriend
Will be her first time up.
Just going to check out the sites. Not sure if we will be looking for fun.
We are here for another night, blue moon hot pools just relaxing
Let us know
So how was it , we haven’t been in years.
We are going to be in Pocatello April 30st, May 1st and part of May 2nd. We are going to make a trip to Lava while we are there. Not sure of our schedule just yet. We are following the wife’s druthers as far as what we do and where and when we go while up there.
We are going may 20-22nd 😊
Well whenever anyone comes up let us know if you’d like to meet for dinner or drinks. We are only 30 min away.
We will also be there May 20-22. We have our cabin rented and we are excited to meet everyone.

Yessss!
So we are going this weekend , where does everyone stay
[quote=FUNCOUPLE400]So we are going this weekend , where does everyone stay
I think we are going to be at the Lava Hot Springs Inn and Spa
We'll also be in Lava May 20-22 and staying at the Lava Hot Springs Inn. The advantage of staying their is they have multiple private pools two steps out your rooms door.

Pro Tip - Check the events to see why that weekend is getting popular ;-)

We will have to look you two up.
We will be in Lava May 20-22 for the bash.. Staying at the city center KOA in our motorhome.
We'll be at Lava May 20-22nd.
We'll be there too for the Risquesoiree LAVA event in May. Looking forward to seeing everyone!!
We are staying at the Lava Spa Motel & RV Park this weekend.

We’ve stayed at a handful of places, and everything in Lava is pretty dumpy to be honest. The best place we’ve stayed so far is probably “Suites of Lava” next to the Blue Moon Bar. We stayed in a room that was more like a small apartment. It doesn’t have great reviews on Trip Advisor for some reason, but our room was good.

Home Hotel has high ratings on Trip Advisor, but when we stayed there we were not impressed, and would not stay there again for a handful of reasons.
I’d also be careful when booking. A lot of hotels say Lava, but they may actually be 10 or 15 minutes away from the town itself. Lava Hot Springs is TINY… you can basically walk anywhere you’re wanting to go in 5 minutes.

We are planning to be there the same weekend. Should be fun!

One of these days a major corporation will build a large hotel and/or resort in Lava and ruin everything that is good and fun about the place.

If shit hole hotels are your version of fun than you are probably right. Starlight is right the quality of the hotels (if that’s what you want to call them) are terrible. Airbnb or bring an RV are better options. The springs themselves are decent.

There are actually some really nice Airbnb's in Lava. There are also several other nice clean options if you know where to look. If your candyass can't handle Lava might I suggest you stay in Vegas where everything is overpriced, choreographed and commercialized, which appears to be more to your liking?
The Harkness hotel is about 10 mins outside of lava and is gorgeous. It's a little less convenient but worth it.

We might be able to meet you guys maybe Saturday
I might get a room if there is anything available
Let us know quick

Sorry we don’t like roaches. If that makes us candy asses than yes! Speaking of candy asses, you may want to step away from the candy a little! Read what I wrote use an Airbnb, 🛎 🛎! If we were the only that felt this way it would be different, but even you say to stay at an Airbnb 😂!
We rented an Airbnb in Pocatello for our April 31st through May second trip. We like having a full kitchen and a bedroom separate from some living space. We can make a nice meal, have a drink, really relax. If we are entertaining, space facilitates less guarded conversation etc., than we might enjoy in a restaurant, a loud bar or club. Easier to get to know someone. We are going to Lava, as well as a few other places around Pocatello. Our trip isn't really Lava or swing specific, but swinging could happen.

This is how we would recommend to do lava as well. Or a hotel in Pocatello.

Staying in Pocatello kind of defeats one of the major advantages of staying in Lava. Perhaps our favorite part of Lava after the hot springs is the fact that once we arrive and park our car it doesn't move until the day we leave, so how hard we party is not an issue.

Who wants to drive 40 minutes to Pocatello late at night after the meet and greet at the Blue Moon? Not to mention Lava is a big LS hangout most weekends. So if you hook up with a couple you like how's that go? "Hey, you want to drive 40 minutes away?" Because obviously you're to good to go play in their (your words) roach infested room.

To be expected response! If lava is your thing by all means you do you. Might want to read above as Delicious is recommending that and we agree. What you view as the best part of the hot springs isn’t what everyone else views. We know when you are a boomer/narcissist you don’t see others viewpoints and make fun of them. And yes we are above staying at a roach hotel just to have LS play. You might have problems getting someone to drive to play with you, we don’t. Just keep trolling it’s what you do best. Obviously you sense of humor is lacking. Can’t wait to see you guys at the springs, it’ll be lit.
Well, we aren’t going the weekend that the Risqué Soirée event is happening. So really parting after an event isn’t an issue. We aren’t heavy drinkers, really a drink when the days events wind down is about it for us. So parking the car just once isn’t a big deal. Our trip isn’t Lava centric. So base camping in Lava isn’t advantageous. The whole of our comings and goings during our trip aren’t at all inconvenient with the two of us staying in Pocatello. We looked at lodging in Lava and Pocatello, and we just chose what we chose because that’s what the two of us prefer. So really we weren’t at all trying to disrespect lodging in Lava, or anyone who chooses to stay in Lava. It is true, that as we read forum content, we may discover that we share more in common with some posting in the forums, than others. It isn’t a competition in our minds. Just an expression of preference.
We actually do think it’d be nice if a bigger corporation bought some land and made a nicer hotel… we’ve talked about that before. There are probably historic rules against it though, as most of the hotels in town always undergo shoddy renovations, and are never bought out and bulldozed.

An in town option that is mid level to upscale would be nice. I don’t think we’d ever want to stay anywhere outside of town. Being able to enjoy the small town charm of Lava without driving back to our hotel is a major plus, and neither of us even drink. We just have to deal with subpar accommodations until someone can recommend something better than what we’ve experienced so far. We’re also open to suggestions that are in town if anyone has found a diamond in the rough.

As someone mentioned above, there are some relatively nice Airbnbs in town if you want a home experience with kitchens and all that. You’d just have to pay more for that experience.

If people that are headed up in May know each other, splitting an Airbnb with two or three (or more) couples is also an option. When we attended Wild in Lava in January lots of couples did this. The downside is you may not have privacy if you want it, the upside COULD be you have an orgy type scenario in the house… you know… if that’s your jam 🤭
I and We have stayed in Lava a ton of times, yes a bit outdated, and had no issues while there. I enjoy parking my car at the Motel and not starting it again until departure time :)
We have a house and property there so don't worry about any of that.
Lava is old, its dated, its sorta rustic and that is its charm. I have partied in motels, rental houses or campers there and every time it was fun. But I agree lets raze the town to the ground, and rebuild with pretentious motels designed to trick people in to thinking they're ballin; replace main street with a few factory outlet stores an olive garden, gotta have that authentic Italian food, and maybe even a Ruby River steak house and a Red Lobster, Yum.
Bingo Lava is now just like every other corporate tourist destination.

We see what you are suggesting, and we agree it would be better to just leave Lava, pretty much like it is. Pocatello has hotels, motels, Holiday Inns and it's not far away, and can facilitate the need for overflow lodging. With nearby Utah and a lot of Idaho's exploding populations, just like so much of the recreational sites in Utah, unfortunately the day may come when overcrowding will changing the experience regardless of the rustic nature of Lava.

Like the saying goes one man's trash is another man's treasure. To each his own.
Nice accommodations that have both working hot water and working heating and air conditioning isn’t much to ask for as paying guests in our opinion. The last two places we stayed had those issues (one had both issues), but we dealt with them. We wouldn’t say that’s Lava charm. That’s poor accommodations. The people running the hospitality industry in town know they can get away with subpar rooms because they’re the only options in town. Family owned or not, basic guest needs should be met. Raze the whole town? Nah… but get at least one nice hotel in there to help raise the quality of the others.

We like the town and have gone up for a night or two to get away just the the two of us, or for LS meet ups. We always have fun regardless of the issues with the hotels.

People can get so touchy on the internet 🤷🏽‍♂️

Well said, for some reason it's very personal for someone to not agree with them!
For all those wishing for corporate hotels, clone bars and chain restaurants to transform Lava you already have Glenwood Springs. We visit Lava 4 or 5 times a year and we visit Glenwood Springs once a year. Both are nice and with their charm, but we prefer Lava. I would hate to see Lava become another Glenwood Springs.

Pro Tip - if you visit Glenwood Springs from most places in Utah take Amtrak, the train ride is a big part of the adventure and a round trip ticket is only $85. Everything in Glenwood is within walking distance of the train station.

Okay, where in town do you stay? The OP asked for suggestions on lodging, which has only been recommended by a couple of people so far by my count.

This isn’t an attempt to provoke a fight, it’s a valid question for someone like you that visits often.

I really hate to give up the best places in Lava as they than become popular and I can't book a room. This has already been a big issue this year with the increased travel. Our preferred place to stay the 24th and Labor Day was booked back in February and we had to resort to second choice. So you're on your own for finding the hidden treasures.

So you are saying they need more options that are better?
I think they’re saying they really don’t have any hidden hotel gems, and they probably stay in Airbnbs.

I should start a petition to have the place across the street from their “#1 choice” bulldozed so a beautiful modern hotel can be built in its place blocking out his sunshine and view 😛

Note to self… FunCouple84020 is a stingy old coot that doesn’t like to share his (made up) secrets 🧐

More options bring more people, so pick your poison. Some of you would really be much happier at Glenwood Springs, it's bigger, modern, with a nice selection of fancy chain hotels, or better yet the Hotel Colorado. Glenwood Springs is everything Some of you want to turn Lava into, including twice as expensive. Personally I'd hate to see Lava turn into Glenwood Springs, but I can't fault those who feel the opposite as Glenwood is really nice.

The deluxe hotel at a nice hot springs you are looking for is the Hotel Colorado. You'll love it there.

We will be there just to raze your ass. And look for some property to build the biggest hotel possible 😂, hopefully the roaches and bed bugs stay within the hidden gems or where you are 😂!
We just arrived. We have an Airbnb private residence.
We are looking for cool things to do and cool people to meet.
We are going to be at the Chuck wagon for the band and if we don't like the vibe, going to the Blue Moon
We are here now
Sorry we got bored and went to the Wagon Wheel Lounge.
Going to bed now

We've heard little ducks fart underwater before... make sure you bring your A-Game. 👍

We sure you have from you trying to fuck them in the water, you should seek help. Oh Funcouple had a farm…poor little farm animals. Don’t flatter yourself, for us to bring any game would mean competition, that you are not. You know the best part is you can’t resist responding! Go cry about it somewhere else!
Well this thread went to shit...
We are in Pocatello until tomorrow. We went to Lava yesterday and we relaxed and soaked. It was nice. We got into some nice conversations with some locals and a few tourists. We may go back today. Town is small and charming. We took a couple of new photos back at the Airbnb in Pocatello that we have posted to our profile too.
So, our Pocatello, Lava travel food review. We really enjoyed Jakers for dinner. The best prime rib French dip sandwich we’ve ever found. Asked for medium rare and got it. Probably more than 10 ounces of tender prime rib on the sandwich. Great bread. Excellent horseradish sauce. Broccoli was perfect on the side. Excellent beer selection. Butterburr’s for breakfast was really small town dinner good and way too much food. Nothing else impressed, nor appalled us but those two meals were excellent. We had quite a few conversations with the locals. Relaxing trip. Didn’t run into any swingers other than seeing a couple of pineapple tattoos in the hot springs. Which might just be tattoos. Our Airbnb was great too. We will venture out that way from time to time.

Jakers is good!
Lava is one our favorite places to go during the fall/winter. If a group plans to go in the next few months we would love to meet.
