The Splash Party got moved a week later at the last minute, it was going to be at the Vortex, a venue many don't prefer, there was confusion about tickets not being available at the door, everyone we emailed said they weren't going, and on and on - we were REALLY tempted to use our night w/o the kids to just have some sexy friends over and do our own thing. (Even when we arrived an hour into it there was only about a dozen people, the pool was needing attention and the music was techno - not our favorite to dance too!) BUT, knowing how much effort, often thankless, goes into planning, promoting, preparing and hosting a large party, we chose to support Rob & Jen (the hosts) and anticipated grabbing some friends and heading back to our condo after a couple of hours.
Well, we couldn't have been more wrong about what lay in store for us. First off the owner of the Vortex took personal interest in making sure that those who arrived early were taken care of by making several drinks on the house, he also asked around as to what type of music people would like to hear, second Rob went around to as many people as possible that he didn't know, introduced himself and thanked them for coming. With the smaller group we were able to do the same and got a chance to talk to some great folks.
Then as darkness fell on this outdoor venue the dozen turned into two, then three, then four and pretty soon the place was filled. By this time the DJ had gotten the gist of the crowd (hip hop and danceable rock & rap) and was playing the most danceable music we've experienced at a club in a long time - as a result the dance floor became a ocean of georgeous women in bikini's, many men with their shirts off and EVERY BODY IN THE MOOD for sensual dancing, partner swapping and just plain ol' fun. It reminded me of a scene from one of my favorite films - the adaptation of Anais Nin's Delta of Venus!
Needless to say, we ended up having the time of our life and stayed til the end! We want to again thank Rob & Jen, the owners & operators of the Vortex, Jim for grillin' it up Bobby Flay style, and all of the AMAZINGLY SEXY men and women who not only attended, but came to party, meet new people and reveal their sensual side!
We have to say again that the bikini clad women were FUCKING HOT! Perpetual eye candy would be an understatement.
We will definately be at another Spice Party soon!

PS Brigham Young took a lot of shit from the Mormon's he lead because he wanted to prevent SLC from becoming a stodgy community. He wanted theaters, dance halls and other public gathering places built so the early Mormon's could socialize, dance and make merry. These activities at the time were thought vulgar and unholy (think Footloose 100 years earlier). I think Brigham slept well last night!

yeah, we didn't make it last night. Instead we had some drunken, naked hot tubbing, running through the sprinklers naked, and a few whip its. We will be to the next one most likely. Love hearing the stories though
