So my question is if you have 2 couples. Couple A's wife joins couple B for a threesome. Then in return couple B's wife joins couple A for a threesome. Is that called wife swapping? Or is there another term for it? My wife and i are looking for a third and she is willing to return the favor.

We don't know what term anybody else would give it. But, we would consider it as wife swapping and sounds fun as hell with the right couple for us. For that couple, we would also do husband swapping for mfm fun too.

Why not try for the foursome and everyone gets to it in that moment with breaks for whoever therefore exploring the MFM, FFM scenarios. Granted, I've only had a couple good with that twice since they were straight or just wanted to swap. Your mileage may vary.
We were hoping to find another couple for something like this, foursomes threesomes etc. but havent had any luck or like any one else mentioned when it becomes time to return the favor the other way they flake out. We just havent had any luck since moving here at all.

So....in our experience it comes down to the confidence in your relationship.
That scenario has worked for us because we can take the fun to the next level because it only makes our relationship stronger.

Although the term "wife swapping" is a little bit abhorrent to us (It seems to denote a bit of ownership or at least a shade of patriarchy, no?) we think that this particular scenario might possibly be better-termed wife (or husband) borrowing. But 'taking turns' with another compatible couple, in our opinion, is the best way to do this. ymmv

If you try this arrangement with a couple you haven't met before, you do take that chance that they may not reciprocate after your wife has played with them. However, if you play as a foursome with a couple first and become good friends, the likelihood of them not returning the favor has to be much lower. We believe that there are many couples who would allow hall passes with good friends for wife and husband borrowing.
We have tried this in the past too, and have run into the same problem where the wife goes and plays with the couple, but they start to all of a sudden get cold feet when it's their wife's turn to play with us.
We ended up just giving up on this scenario, but would love to try again since we're both fine with the scenario and find it hot.

We have done this with a couple we dated for a while. I wouldn’t do it with people we didn’t both like or get to know first though. It is really tough to find people that you click with like that. We all moved to different areas of the country and have yet to find another couple like that!
This is a scenario where you need to already have common ground with another couple and plenty of experience with them first. If anyone suggests this right away then I would be wary.
It can work if you agree to set calendar dates ahead of time that are not too far apart with couples you already know.
